  1. Quote: Salim? I'd be shocked if someone gives up a big man for Salim. Zo is in his last year in the league, and Miami is going nowhere. Would only be a temporary fix, but Miami might do it, and Zo might agree, since Atlanta is in the playoff hunt.
  2. I'm enjoying the debate on this thread. One is basically arguing that Woodson is bad, but BK is totally incompetent. The other is arguing that BK is poor but Woody is ridiculously awful. To repeat my last post about 25 threads ago, we should give everyone their pink slip, and then hire the most able assistant GM in San Antonio as our new GM, and turn the entire organization over to the new man.
  3. Quote: What has Billy Knight done to deserve to stay? He has made terrible draft picks and he hired Woody in the first place? Oh, and he probably has the worst win/loss record of any GM. Why should he not be fired? It makes no sense. Most of this stuff is his fault. I like what Blank has done. He hired an assistant GM, the one in charge of scouting, from the most successful franchise in the NFL. The Hawks owners collectively should look for a similar person at San Antonio, hire him, fire BK and Woody, get out of the way and turn the entire organization over to the new man.
  4. Quote: And it makes me think the Suns were very much interested in getting KG, but froze up. Oh! The angst of it!
  5. Requiring Nash to win a ring,to prove his greatness, kind of comes full circle back to the point of the thread - this trade looks like a stretch to me. I don't think it will happen. I had the same feeling when Denver traded for AI last year. Denver had been a hot team, but went bust. Which end do you leave Shaq on? The defensive end? I have been wrong before. I didn't think Riles would get anywhere with all those geezers he brought in, but he pulled it off.
  6. Absolutely right about the owner. Trade poposal amended. But we need the owner AND the GM.
  7. Quote: They didn't win the championship yet. I don't think they're going to.
  8. I rank Nash above Stockton though, you are right, it's irrelevant to the mistake, assuming KG was theirs.
  9. Quote: Oscar Robertson. Hall of Famer, no doubt. Great, great player. I'm no expert on him.. Just saw him at the tail end of his career, when he was in Milwaukee with Kareem. He was fantastic. A great passer, but I would put him more at the 2. He was at the stage of his career then, that Nash is now. O was one of the greatest players of all time. Better point guard than Nash? No way. Nash is spectacular at what he does. He sees everyone. Everyone on the court is ten times better than they would be without him. Even now, he can virtually always beat his man, penetrate, find anyone who is open, or pull up and drain it. I've only seen one other in his league. Just my opinion.
  10. Hawks give: 1. They get as many players on our roster as they want. 2. We will take any lousy contracts they want to give up. Hawks get: 1. Their first round pick in '08. 2. Their GM.
  11. Quote: Steve Nash is not the second best PG of all time. Your opinion. Mine differs.
  12. I believed him. He was the first to break the news of the Wolves/Suns/Hawks proposal. If Sothron's version was true, which I tend to believe, Sarver and his rookie GM froze in the headlights instead of pulling off the trade of a lifetime. This latest trade for O'Neill looks like a desperation attempt to make up for an unimaginable blunder - declining the opportunity to unite the second best point guard of all time, with the second best power forward in history.
  13. Quote: Does this amount to a replay of the game without Shaq - in other words an exact replay of what already happened? Good point. The whole thing should be declared moot.
  14. Quote: I like the idea of Zaza/Lue -for- Wilcox/West. In a NY minute.
  15. Quote: I rethought it out and I can't edit my post so I will just say it I changed it by picking up Joe Flacco with our second second round pick, dropped Rice a round, and swapped T. Blake with D. Jackson. Thanks for the work man. I don't pay much attention to f'ball and don't know half the players you named. For some reason, though, the Vick situation has got me back mildly interested in the Falcons - and I'd like to see them play some real football. This gives me a little more of a framework to view the situation, with precisely the amount of effort that I'm willing to expend. Only gridiron I see much of is the SEC, until the bowl games. I'm not a Vol fan, but my kid goes there so I see a lot of their games. Ainge has the skills and the arm, but he seems to have a synaptic gap somewhere a la Ryan Leaf. A real knack for throwing a boneheaded pick at the worst possible moment. Sorta like Quincy Carter, only Q had coke as an excuse.
  16. Quote: Why doesn't Woody give his "PG of the future" (Acie) some responsibility and make him your starting PG and give him 35-40 mins per game for a stretch and see what happens? We know what we have with AJ/Lue...lets find out what Acie can do. Woody has no future, if the Hawks don't win immediately. He knows it, everyone knows it.
  17. Quote: This game would seem to be the best chance at a win on this roadtrip. If the Hawks do lose this game. I think that will be the breaking point for those who are trying their best to stay optimistic. Who is it that is trying to stay optimistic? Even Mule has mailed it in.
  18. Quote: Quote: "rumer"?? It's like new math for spelling. LEARN TO USE YOUR SPELLCHECKER!!!!! It's Roomer
  19. It didn't seem like Bernie did much. He was a sort of public "spokesman," but he didn't talk much, and when he did he had no clue what he was talking about, at least as far as the Hawks is concerned. Best case scenario is that this signals progress in ownership resolution talks, and housecleaning is starting.
  20. I would love to get the man in here to coach our bigs. No offense to the guy we just hired, but Zo would make a great coach if he can teach what he knows.
  21. Quote: I like the Hayes call. Me too. Someone on this board suggested this past summer that we sign him, when he was actually available. I don't know how he has played overall this year, but if the way he played against us is typical, Joe D. aint going to give him up.
  22. Quote: .... when this team competes consistently at a high level. As real Hawk fans, we have to hope that the owners allow this team to stay together long enough for that to happen (Coaching Staff Not Included). The best thing might be that the owners have crippled themselves with their legal Chinese knot.
  23. Quote: Quote: What bugged me was it looked like Jameer undercut him on purpose, to try to prevent the layup. P*ssed me off bigtime. Tell me I'm wrong. I thought that too at first... But when I looked at it again, Jameer got tangled up with Acie and he stumbled into Shell.. Thanks, man. I'll give him the benefit. Makes me feel better. I can't believe how well Shell was playing. I didn't expect that from him until next year. Magic seems to bring out the best in us.
  24. What bugged me was it looked like Jameer undercut him on purpose, to try to prevent the layup. P*ssed me off bigtime. Tell me I'm wrong.
  25. I don't like Brett Favre. His jean commercials are lame. And as someone else said, he doesn't even know how to pronounce his own last name. I don't like Chris Paul either. I'm hoping Hodge gets revenge on him at some opportune moment.
