  1. Josh for Javale McGee and Corey Brewer
  2. I don't believe that report is 100% truthful. I don't think that a single owner actually loses money on a team. What I think is that they "lose" money compared to projected earnings/profits. This is the reason that owners will not open their books up to the NBAPA. The bottom line is that ASG should've never owned the team,.The NBA allowed for backdoor dealings, and this City is paying for it. If anyone should be happy, it's David McDavid. He made millions through lawsuits after the fact.
  3. Offer Fratello the house. He watches this team enough to know how to remedy the real issues. If not Fratello, Brian Shaw. He'll bring the traingle, and he's coached under quite a few championship regimes in LA. He understands superstar attitiudes.
  4. Great explanation. I didn't realize that we could not use the buffer between the cap and LT to sign additional players. That does put another spin on things.
  5. Use amnesty on Marvin Sign Tyson Chandler for 5 years 10mil/per (Marvin's salary plus a few mil) Use MLE on Tayshaun or Battier Resign Crawford for 2 years 7mil/per or sign Jrich for 2year 5mil/per Roster: PG: Teague, Hinrich SG: JJ, Craw or JRich SF: Smith, Battier or Prince PF: Horford, Zaza C: Chandler, Collins, Rookie That team is better than any team we've put on the floor in a while, and it's feasible. We still have about 5 mil under the luxury tax threshold, and it would allow us to add a few mil to Marvin's salary to afford Chandler. MLE doesn't count against the cap. Craw or JRich sign for less than or equal to what Craw made last year.
  6. Refs are swallowing the whistle on the Hawks' end of the floor. I guess the guys will have to play through it.
  7. JJ is more atheletic, but Smitty was smarter and much more efficient. He was arguably a better shooter as well.
  8. The Bad: Way too many jumpers by the entire team. We've got to get to the line. Joe Johnson guarding Lebron. The Good: Gritty defense by all. Smoove's on-the-ball defense against LBJ

    Hawks vs Mavs

Who's watching? Josh looks pretty good so far. Our guards need to attack the zone with the dribble drive a little more.
  10. Compared to what other teams are offering, I'd give them JC, Marvin, and a first rounder for Melo and a filler (or Cash). That's better than what the Nets are offering.
  11. Add: Brandon Roy, Rajon Rondo, Luol Deng, Rudy Gay, Rodrique Beaubois, Danny Granger, Kendrick Perkins, Josh Howard, trading Pau Gasol, etc.
  12. Keep them both. I guarantee you that chemistry issues with Josh Smith aren't what Horford was talking about. You guys seem to forget that Joe was pressing during the playoffs. He didn't share the ball, and he took a lot of bad shots. He single-handedly stopped the ball from moving. That's what caused problems. Joe was playing for a contract. BTW, once he gets his money, he'll be more of a team player.
  13. Not sure if this is posted or not. The kid has the "killer instinct. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XejLyk3kJZg
  14. If we can't resign him, I hope we can deal him for a good pick and some young talent. Sund's gotta earn his money with this one.
  15. I do understand what you guys are saying, but you have to remember that Josh's move to the 3 is contingent upon getting a shot, blocking 5. Defensively, the dynamic will change if that type of player is acquired by the Hawks. Yes Josh is better at the basket, but there have been a number of 3's in the league who made their living in the paint.. I never once heard anyone complain about James Worthy not being able to knock down 3-pointers. He could run and slash with the best of them, and play great help defense. Sound familiar?
  16. Not a fair question. the nature of the hawk's switching defense often forced Josh to guard 3's, and he still finished 2nd for DPOY. Dwight was never asked to do that. We've even seen Josh do a decent job of checking Steve Nash this year. He's capable.
  17. I think that some of you are reaching a bit on Smith's perimeter defense. He may not be the best on the ball defender, but I think that he defends better than the average 3 in the league. We are talking about a guy who finished 2nd for DPY this year. He could definitely play the three if he didn't have to help so much. Put a young, shot-blocking 7-footer behind him (like McGee or Alabi) and watch what happens.
  18. If we get JaVale McGee out of it, I'll consider it a great deal. He's a young, 7-foot, super-athletic big who can block shots, rebound, and finish at the rim.
  19. What I want to know is what type of loss was the $30 million? From my private sector days, I know that "loosing" money is subjective. Is the $30 mil loss from their planned profit? Did it only affect the profit margin? Did it actually affect ASG's overhead numbers? If they have really lost as much money as they claim to have lost against their overhead, then they would sell this team to the first thing buying. Businesses must make at least enough to cover their overhead, or they can't exist. I know plenty of businesses who are bidding jobs with little to no profit in them just so they can pay their overhead costs. I'd be willing to guarantee you that ASG's not going broke; their just not making what they projected. There is a huge difference. To support this thought, you haven't heard of a single article cutting ASG staff salaries, laying off employees, or decreasing ownership take. When that happens, then you know that they are loosing money.
  20. I keep hearing this. While it is true, the Hawks are not a cash-strapped team. They still have the full MLE. They are not paying luxury tax. There's a little latitude to make a move. We also could trade the rights to Childress. Sund has options.
  21. How about Marvin Williams for Al Harrington. he's not the greatest defensive player, but you get a very effective offensive player on the block and in the face up game.

    56 in the paint!

Think of what could happen if we actually fed the post regularly. We got most of those numbers off of the offensive glass.
  23. The bottom line on this game is that it became too perimeter oriented in the 2nd half. We had too many possessions where only 1 or 2 guys even touched the ball. Could our bigs have played a better game? Yes. Did they get nearly enough touches on the block? Not even close. Against a team like the Lakers who have great balance, you have to move the ball to create mismatches. Guards are responsible for ball distribution and tempo. Our guards did not step up and settle their respective teammates down when the tempo of the game changed., This is where Bibby's biggest fault is (and where our rookie shined last night). When the tempo gets high and Bibby's on the floor, Joe actually plays point. This is the first mistake. Last night, all Joe wanted to do was shoot. No distribution. It the point guards responsiblilty to come and get the ball and direct traffic. You can't blame that on Josh, Marvin, or Al. When Teague came in, he got the team into it's sets, distributed the ball, and attacked the rim. That's how good teams win. We need to learn that there can only be one florr general on the floor at a time, and that the general's responsibility is to control tempo and to put his teammates in the position to make plays. Floor generals cannot have a score-first mentality.
  24. I think Petro, Obetro, and/or Wilcox would be great fits. I like Petro's game. I think he fits in well with an athletic team like we have.
