  1. I don't wanna see any more idiotic threads about trading Josh Smith. That boy is a big time player, and he's only going to get better. A GM would be a fool to trade Josh Smith.
  2. That pick is classic! Spot on, too. Pierce is a b!tch.
  3. You gotta love Horford. He ain't gettin' punked by those cry-baby Celtics.
  4. Yeah. That's Roger from "What's Happening."
  5. Quote: though I thought Horford was a little out of line with the taunting..i dont know what was said or what triggered it so I wont get involved in it. And even though Boston(KG) trash talks alot, they dont point and yell in other players faces but I mean this is the playoffs so who cares lol i still love Horfords emotions! Man, F#ck the Celtics!!!!! Especially that b!tch, Paul Pierce! They wanna talk trash all the time, but when somebody dishes it back out to them, he wants to cry like a b!tch and throw up gang signs like somebody is supposed to scared of his punk azz or something. If I'm Mike Woodson, I'm sending Solo on a personal mission to knock Pierce's punk azz out when he's driving to the basket and then throw some mocking gang gestures back in his face as he's lying on the floor. Pierce is a b!tch. If he really wanted to fight Horford, he would have sprinted down the court instead of walking in slow motion. All he was doing was fronting. He was basically trying to act hard, but then begging for one of his teammates to stop him before he actually got close to Horford. Pierce needs to grow up. He's 30 years old and throwing up gang signs. How lame can you be?
  6. Quote: Kincade's comments are self self-fulfulling. For the past two weeks they have had a parade of NFL prospects, draft gurus, and agents. With that sort of gues line-up its not surprising that people are talking about the draft. 680 set it up so that the Hawks would NOT be talked about because Kincade and Buck know nothing about the Hawks or the NBA in general. When people do call into 680 about the Hawks all they get is ridicule or the cold sholder. As I have said before, I like John as a person. He is really nice when our kids play together, but his media persona is grating. I really whish ATL sports radio had a sports knowlegable host that was born and raised on Atlanta sports. Home Team is close, but his personality isn't strong enough to carry him through debates on 790. Buck is good for football and baseball, but he's awful on basketball and hockey. The Northern transplant hosts I am sure bring in all the immagrent Northerners, but us Southerners really need a host. Yes, that is what bugs the heck out of me. We need a southern host. These clowns come down here from up north and then act as if they're not in the South. It's just disrespectful. Half of those clowns think they're 10 times smarter than they really are. One guy that really grates on my nerves is that Jerry Ellinger guy. He's a true idiot. I've never heard anyone with a more idiotic take on sports on a consistent basis.
  7. Quote: Quote: Quote: If you're a real coach you sure as hell can, are you kidding me? You demand respect and if you don't get it you bench his ass and make him run laps. Be real, every contract year I hear Tim Thomas and Larry Hughes will play like this for good and have finally learned and what happen after the big payday. Not a g-- damn thing! I don't see it, improvement with a different coach is one thing but listening and doing what your suppose to do is another. Josh hasn't shown that he capable of playing ball without doing stupid s*i* at least 5 times in a game. He overall impact is minimal, and he doesn't play team defense, just plays for himself, enough said. That is what I said in a post a few weeks back. It is a contract year and he can't even pretend like he wants to play under control. He can't even fake it. I really don't see him getting any better. Don't get it twisted and think that I want him traded or don't think that he is good player but sometimes you got to look past the stats (which can be padded) and ask the hard questions: If we get a center: 1. Can Smoove play PF better than Horford? 2. Can Smoove play SF better than Marvin? Sometimes the popular decision isn't always the right one? He is a tweener that wants to be a guard. When he gets the ball and takes it down court he gets a crazed look in his eyes and I tell myself he is about to turn it over. But with a new coach I think that our current lineup with the right offense/defense can win 50 games next season. WE NEED A NEW COACH PEOPLE BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE DECISION ON SMOOVE HAS TO BE MADE THIS SUMMER!!! Dude, you can slice it and look at it any way you want. However, any GM with common sense is picking Josh Smith over Marvin Williams every time. Smith has the potential to be special. Marvin just has the potential to be above average.
  8. I've got a way better solution.... Buy a Delorean, build yourself a flux capacitor, make sure you've got enough room to get your car up to 88 miles per hour, and go back in time and draft Chris Paul and Make Byron Scott the Head Coach.
  9. I'd trade Marvin all day long. That's an easy decision.
  10. Quote: I actually think that if we go with a vet coach like Fratello or Brown, they would have more of a problem with Smoove. I don't. Based upon the comment that Fratello made the other, I'd say that Fratello would love to work with him and coach him up. Fratello said during game 1 that Smith was a very good athlete that is just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. Based on that comment, it doesn't seem as if he'd not want to be bothered with Smoove. Rather, it seems as if he'd like to coach him and turn him into a very good player.
  11. Quote: Quote: Of course they won't boo him as much as they did in Boston and I am hoping they dont boo him at all in ATL. Booing your own players is pretty lame, IMO. I don't even boo Zaza, although I think he's horrible. I hope Bibby realizes how stupid he now looks after he ran his mouth and then layed another egg on the court. Even my wife said "Why would he say something about the other team's crowd"? My only reply was "Who knows"? No... I'm not saying ATL fans will boo him. I'm saying will BOS bring more fans to the Phil than ATL does and Bibby gets booed? I'm afraid so. I was thinking about this last night. It's going to be really embarrassing when Bibby gets booed loudly on his own home court by opposing fans.
  12. Quote: Quote: Joe Johnson is too soft to be a great player. When his jump shot is off, he's useless and actually turns into a liability because he's soft mentally. Wow, soft mentally because he's not a loud person? Actually when his shot is off, he actually puts up great assist numbers. Noone plays exceptional when their shot is off. Look at Kobe the other night. Only players like Lebron/Wade or Jordan in his prime who are absolutely dominant driving to the lane can make up for this. Sure, I do agree that he could drive more to get some fouls, but that doesn't mean he's soft. Quote: His idea of being aggressive is driving to the hole and shooting that weak floater he loves to put up. You mean that "weak floater" that is money almost every time? Quote: He always fakes his shot, gets the defender up in the air, and he never draws a foul to get to the freethrow line.. I agree with this, I wish he'd learn that tactic. Wow, you really put some words in my mouth, didn't you? First off, I said that he's soft. I didn't say he was soft because he's not loud. That's just silly. You can be quiet and still not be soft. Joe is not. He's soft because he avoids contact when he knows that he can't buy a bucket. And yes, when his shot is off, then that weak floater is off. Just like in game 1. His jumpshot was off, so he approached the rim, but stopped short of going all the way in order to put up that weak floater, that was also as off as his jumpshot. If he's on, then I have no problem with it. When we need points, I have a problem with the so-called star of our team missing shot after shot without trying to get to the free throw line.
  13. Quote: the difference between jj and other stars is that they are aggressive and show intensity. He needs to go to the hole jam it down and scream like hell. If joe had the same intensity as al or smoove he would be one helluva player. Exactly. Joe Johnson is too soft to be a great player. When his jump shot is off, he's useless and actually turns into a liability because he's soft mentally. His idea of being aggressive is driving to the hole and shooting that weak floater he loves to put up. When his shot is off, his mentality should be that he's going to take it to the basket and either make a layup or get fouled. Another thing that bugs the heck out of me about Johnson is that he's just not a smart player. He always fakes his shot, gets the defender up in the air, and he never draws a foul to get to the freethrow line.. He goes around the defender all of the time just to take a jumpshot, and when his shot is off, he passes up easy freethrows just to miss a jumpshot. It's as if he's never seen Reggie Miller or any of the other smart veterans play. Heck, he should have at least learned from Sam Cassell the other week. Yet, he still didn't learn.
  14. A freakin' 40-point lead should be good enough to last you for two quarters. Those clowns found a way to squander it within minutes, and I'm convinced that if they would have remained in the game that we would have lost. They have shown why they deserve as little playing time as possible. Even scrubs should be able to play well with a huge lead in the 4th quarter, but not our guys. Those guys are absolutely atrocious.
  15. I think we just saw why Woody was reluctant to empty the bench. Those scrubs came in and let Memphis run through them like a hot knife through butter. Just disgraceful.
  16. Quote: Quote: Bibby hasn't really wowed me since coming here... not saying he isn't a big improvement, because he is... but I have my doubts about his future as our PG. Bibby makes too many dumb passes for me. Some of the worst passes i have seen from any Hawks pg this year have been from Bibby. That's because our other point guards before Bibby didn't really pass at all. All they did was walk the ball up the court and hand it off or make the simplest passes imaginable.
  17. I agree. Towards the end of the movie, I thought something was wrong with my DVD and that it skipped a section or something. The movie started off pretty good, but it got really lame after the main character got killed.
  18. Quote: Quote: Billy Knight is not going to fire his friend. You're probably right. But there is one scenario that could possibly go down. Both Woodson and Knight are fired by the ASG. And Larry Brown gets TOTAL CONTROL of the Hawks, by being both the coach and the GM. Of course, that's usually a recipe for disaster in sports. But if the Hawks really want Brown, that's what they might have to do. I don't want anyone as the GM and coach of the team that thought it was a good idea to trade for Keith VanHorn and who also thought that his team would be better by trading Allen Iverson.
  19. Quote: he was 790 5 minutes ago and he sound black. is he? im black and i really dont care but is he. With a name like "Sekou," he has to be Black. You ain't gonna find any White guys named Sekou.
  20. Well, I never said that I thought that Woody would change. It's obvious that he's a slow learner - if he ever learns at all. I just said that it's time for a change in philosophy. I'm sick of him acting as if Joe Johnson is the only player we have on the team and acting like he's Michael Jordan or something.
  21. Yeah, that can't really sit well with Chillz. Marvin is just so danged goofy and uncoordinated. It seems as if the only thing he can do without losing the ball is shoot jumpshots. Marvin is weak, awkward, goofy, uncoordinated, has not heart, and lacks fire. To top it all off, he probably has a 20-inch vertical too. Man, Billy Knight really blew it with that pick. Being that he passed over two franchise point guards, he could have at least gotten a 6-10 guy that was an athletic specimen. Instead, he got a goofy, 6-10 cornball that plays smaller than his height would indicate. He has pretty nice form on his shot, but that form does him no good if he doesn't hit it with regularity and if he's not really a threat from the 3-point line.
  22. I believe a change in philosophy would do this team a world of good. As it stands right now, Woodson's philosophy is to get the ball to Joe Johnson in crunch time - no matter what. We live and die by Joe Johnson. I think that Joe has proven that if we live and die by him, we're going to die an agonizing death. Joe Johnson just don't have it in him to be a consistent go-to guy. Instead of drawing up plays at the end of the game for Joe Johnson almost exclusively, Woody needs to spread the responsibility around to several players. He should let J Smoove take a few cracks at it. Let Marvin start earning his pay checks and see if we can pull some fire and confidence out of him by letting him take some big shots. Heck, let Salim suit up again and see if he can regain his college swagger. Whatever we do, we can't continue to let Joe Johnson shoot us out of games in the closing minutes and we can't continue to let him fail on a consistent basis to make big shots at the end of games. Somebody needs to tell Woodson and Joe Johnson that he IS NOT "The Man" and that he DOES NOT have carte blanche' to keep shooting when he is ice cold. Whoever the hot man or hot men are, those are the people that need to keep getting the ball. During tonight's game, Smoove, AJ, and Horford got us back into the game, and they were rewarded with the privilege of seeing Joe Johnson throw up brick after brick. This trend cannot continue. Woodson needs to realize that Joe Johnson and Lue are not the only two people on the team who can shoot the ball within the last few minutes of the game. I, for one, am getting sick of seeing this unbalanced/unfair philosophy, and I'm sure that some of the players on the team (especially Smoove) have to be getting sick of this philosophy too.
  23. I also think it's obvious that we need to stop thinking of Joe Johnson as the exclusive go-to guy at the end of games. Joe Johnson just doesn't have it in him.
