  1. agree. But I think we take Boston in 6 if we played them in the playoffs. But everyone does have a right to their opinion
  2. I dont think any team other than the Cavs and Magic can beat the Hawks in a 7 game series in the East. Boston is still a good team no matter how many times we beat them..playoffs is a different ball game but if we have homecourt advantage, I think we win in 6. Hawks are contenders IMO and I think we beat Raptors, Bulls, Heat, and Bucks all in 5 maybe 6 with homecourt advantage. But if I had to choose one team I didnt want to play that would be the Raptors..with Bosh and Turkoglu I think they can be a tough team in the playoffs..there is a reason they are number 5 in the East and were winning when Bosh was healthy
  3. I think Brandon Roy is up there with JJ and Pierce IMO..that guy can play ball and doesnt have a real weakness either And we all know JJ can play, I just wish he would get to the line more which means he should go strong to the rim more often like LeBron, Kobe, Wade, ect.
  4. yea maybe right before the playoffs start..only thing i would do different down the stretch is rest guys like Bibby and Joe Johnson maybe, and give the younger guys some more PT..that is unless we still have a chance to win the division then there should be no resting the starters because we should try to win the division. I wouldnt mind him giving Bibby a few games off down the stretch and increasing Teague's minutes..I can see that happening actually. Would be good for Bibby and Teague
  5. Bibby should start but Teague should get more minutes than he does..maybe 10-15 a night especially against the quicker guards. Bibby has been in a shooting slump for a while but I think he's starting to get it back now..I see him knocking down some more shots than before..hopefully he gets it going in time for the playoffs when the team will really need it. As for Teague, its tough because he knows he would probably be playing more on other teams but I think he should be happy that he will be going to the playoffs and has an opportunity to be on a contending team. Also he gets to learn from the veterans in front of him as well. Maybe next year he could probably start and move Bibby to the bench but now is not the time..he hasnt gotten starter minutes all season and is still learning the NBA game..his defense has been surprising..i didnt know he can steal and especially block this well..he's definitely been a defensive spark for the team
  6. relax. He could of called a TO but he didnt..Im cool with not calling a TO when a team is on a run..we still should of executed better down the stretch. We are a veteran group and we didnt know what to do at the end..we looked lost. Phil Jackson does that with the Lakers all the time and so does Greg Popovich..but the difference is, they come through, we didnt. My point is dont just blame Woody, blame the players and the captains for rushing shots and not getting good possessions as well..he believed in them and they didnt do a good job of getting quality shots
  7. I see what you mean about Jamal..he is probably having his best season even though his numbers arent his best and he probably wont score 50 this season but he does have that killer instinct and that swag like when he has the ball, no one can stop him from scoring. Joe Johnson showed that he can do that against boston at home and even game 7 against the heat last season. But he doesnt always play like that but the DWade's Kobe's and LeBron's do even in a regular season game. At this point in his career I dont think Kobe is all that athletic but he still dominates on offense because of the mentality he has. Alot of basketball is mental..and for the most part in the NBA thats what seperates the average, the good, and the greats IMO
  8. yes Joe Johnson is a better overall player than Jamal Crawford but image if he played as aggressive and with the same killer instinct as Crawford on the offensive end like he did in the playoffs against the Celtics..that would put him in the same class of the 2 SGs ahead of him in Wade and Kobe if he appraoched every game like that IMO but JJ is what he is a good overall SG who's laid back and calm, he aint gon change
  9. Marvin was a great highschool player and was a good college player as well. But maybe he should of stayed in college a bit longer and developed his game some more before going pro. I like Marvin but I think getting drafted after one year when you were just a 6th man on a great team probably is the reason why he isnt as great as people thought he'd be. Everyone knew he had potential but he should of stayed for another yr or 2 and dominate the college game and then go pro. Either way, I know Marvin is a talented player and even though he's our 5th option, I know that he is valuable to this team. He defense is underrated and he has those games when he knocks down every shot and goes for 25. I still think he's getting better as he just added the 3 point shot to this game and his post up game has gotten a bit better too. I would keep Marvin around..maybe if Joe leaves this summer, Marvin will have a breakout year..who knows
  10. and Zaza says he knows him personally. I think he will consider the Hawks more than most people think. Cleveland is probably his first choice but if playing time is a factor, he wont get much there. The teams interested in him are Cavs, Hawks, Nuggets, Mavs, and Utah. I think Hawks and Utah would have the most playing time for him and all these teams are contenders except for maybe the Jazz. Hawks would probably face the Cavs in the playoffs..image him playing against his old team in the conference finals lol
  11. I like what I see from him. What impresses me the most is his defense. His ability to steal and block. He is a much better defender than Bibby. I wouldnt mind him starting a few games just to get his confidence up but nothing long term..just temporary...so in the playoffs if we need him to play he will be ready. He is really quick and can pass also. He is a good player already..unfortunate that he is on a team with good veteran guards..anywhere else he would be playing much more but I think this is to his advantage because he is gonna learn from the guys infront of him

    Toronto

If they're close to us that means they are close to Boston too. Hawks are Boston are better teams than the Raptors and should finish ahead of them if they stay healthy. And either way if we fall to 5 and play Raptors I still think we'd win the series..but I did like Toronto coming into the season..i thought they would be the next best team in the East after the top 4 and looks like that will be the case. Bosh and Turkoglu are tough matchups for anyone
  13. Charles Barkley?? I usually hear him dis the Hawks and our one on 5 basketball lol I remember him saying earlier in the year that there are 2 teams that are contenders in the East and that was Magic and Celtics. He said Cavs and Hawks arent even close. Did I miss something??
  14. at 29 yrs old..I agree. I wouldnt do it. I think he should get the same offer that Sund gave him this summer. That was a good nice offer IMO. Joe Johnson is good and one of my favorite players but 20 million?? nah. If anything we start Crawford and find a nice backup SG in the draft or sign someone to the MLE like Raja Bell or Shannon Brown. But I would much rather JJ just take a deal for about 16-17 mil a yr but I think he is gonna go with the team that shows him the most money
  15. thats how I like it. The less trades the better. Teams like San Antonio and a few others stay competitive by keeping the same core pieces together. Thats the way a franchise should be IMO

    Kenny Smith

btw, who Does Charles think is gonna win the East? I remember in the beginning of the year he said its between the Magic and the Celtics and said the Hawks and Cavs werent even in the discussion..I wonder if he changed his mind on the Cavs lol best team in the league right now. Anyone know?

    Kenny Smith

bad post. Celtics are contenders. Even though we beat them 4 times doesnt mean they cant beat us come playoffs..its a whole new game. Orlando beat Lakers twice last season and Lakers took care of them in the Finals. Celtics also have Nate Robinson now..that makes them a better team. I think The Cavs, Magic, and Hawks are better than them now but that can change. Cavs started off slow but are now the best team in the NBA. Kenny Smith does seem to think he is the man at times but hey, the guy was a winner..what can I say. Charles and Webber think they were the shyt too..o and Charles, Karl Malone was better than you man lol but dont sleep on the Celtics..they can win with what they have I think. With that said, if Hawks get Big Z, I like how chances of coming out the East and beating anyone in the NBA including the Lakers. I think he can be a big help to this team with his size and skills
  18. I think Hawks will finish 3rd. Celtics just arent as good as they were before. They look older and doesnt seem to be as good defensively. Nate makes them better but I still think we are the better team
  19. nice trade for Celtics..they get somebody who we have a hard time defending. This will make things interesting in the East. If the trade goes through(it looks like it is), its a good one for the Celtics..Nate Robinson for Eddie House straight up. I think House will fit in with the Knicks tho I also read on Hoopsworld.com that the Hawks were interested in Rasheed Wallace and offered Mo Evans and some fillers for him. Not sure if that is true or not because that was the first time I've heard about that. But I did hear they offered the same thing for Kurt Thomas. Looks like the Hawks may be looking to make small trades to improve http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2010/02/17/2010-02-17_knicks_celtics_trade.html

    Rome

I dont understand how Amare is overrated. He has flaws like every player. No one is saying he is a good defender or a great rebounder but he is an all star and one of the best big man in the NBA. With that said, I do want the Cavs to make a trade for him because I dont think that would work out in their favor and that may benefit the Hawks. But Amare overrated how??
  21. TruJerz

    Rome

I agree with some of your points..Amare is a damn good player but I dont think it would work out with LeBron, Amare, Shaq, and Mo all on the same team. I want Cavs to make the trade because I think they will fall off a bit if they do it. At the same time, if it does work out and they can figure out how to play well together than that team can be a really good team and perhaps a great team and win it all this year. If anyone can make a team gel, its LeBron..he is a good team player and leader. But I really dont think Amare and Shaq would make a good fit. Why is Cleveland looking to make a big trade when they have the best record in the NBA and on a hot streak?? If it aint broke, dont fix it. Your Shaq is old and fat comment is old..people been saying that for years but he's still playing well and is gonna be a matchup problem for us if we see them. And no one is fatter than Collins lol Amare is soft?? idk where you get that from..he's far from soft. Like Horford, he's a natural PF but is playing at Center and does a better job at it IMO I would rather have Horford still tho because he's still young and is still learning the game
  22. well said. JJ is keeping it real. Hawks are a good exciting team but they will have to play their best to beat the Cavs or Magic in the playoffs..and its possible. They just have to want it more. Hawks shouldnt make any big trades...this team has been together for a few years for the most part and knows how to play together and that will be what gets them far. The game isnt won on paper so even if Amare go to the Cavs I think we still have a chance because Im not sure how that would work out honestly. Joe Johnson and the Hawks has to step up his game for the 2nd half of the season so we can go into the playoffs with alot of confidence because when he is on his A game, this team plays very well and we usually win. One thing I want to see more is the bench..I think we have a pretty good bench but Woody, who I think is doing a good job as coach, needs to play the bench more including Collins who will be key against Shaq, Dwight, and Lakers if we get to the Finals..other than that I like the Hawks chances in the East this year
  23. I think we should try and resign Joe Johnson but for no more than 4 yrs. He should be happy with that..he is not a max player but we dont want to lose out on our best player and get nothing in return. I do think the Knicks and Miami will make a hard run at Joe Johnson but I think he'll come back
  24. I dont like that trade. Evans is our only backup wingman besides West..and Thomas isnt that much better than Collins. this trade helps the Bucks more than it does the Hawks IMO
