  1. I agree 100%. It's insane how talented this team actually is. Bibby is playing solid, JJ is the normal, Smoove has picked up his game lately, Marvin has increased his range this season and we have two solid players on the bench. We really need Horford back so we can get the most out of Zaza who has been playing relatively nice since Horford has been out.
  2. I hate to say it, but at this point of the season I really think its too late to fire Woodson. I want him gone now as much as anyone. His coaching skills are average at best. This prevents players like Smoove, Marvin and Horford from reaching their true potential. For a player like Smoove who is under contract with the team long-term the sky is the limit and we need to bring in a new coach who knows who to get the most out of their players. However, do ya'll think its too late to fire Woodson?
  3. Weird...Any relation to Ciara that he was in this?
  4. I agree. Woody finally coached a good game. He took JJ out when he was shooting poorly and brought in Acie. I was really happy to see Acie run the point for solid minutes last night. His stats may not have been phenomenal but he really helped energize the team.
  5. Its simple, you make a free throw or you miss it. There are no second opportunities and they are always taken at the same spot on the floor. It is crucial that the Hawks improve their free-throw shooting. Tonight is a great example. As a team we shot 83.9% from the line and came away with the 'W'. The previous games, we shot 53% and 70%. Free throws are key to this teams success. There is no excuse for missing more than 25% of your free throws.
  6. I think it was aired twice tonight.
  7. Is it time for Woody to be fired? Sekou Smith believes that question has died down. Is it time to trade Joe Johnson? Joe Johnson's third straight All-Star appearance should quite down that suggestion. So what needs to be done? Lets take a quick review at our L's and W's in the month of January thus far. Wins: (5) HOU, LAC, TOR, CHI, MIL Losses: (8) NJ, *ORL, *ORL, PHI, PHO, GS, PHO, *MIA We lost two very close games to a solid Phoenix. Sunday's loss came against a struggling Phoenix team that loss to the Bobcats and Knicks. We dropped a very close game to Orlando because our offense could not find its groove in the 1st quarter. This continues to be a problem. The Hawks offense commonly finds themselves behind after the first few minutes to better teams and are then put into a situation where they A. force shots or B. force passes which generally = turnovers or digging a bigger hole. As mentioned in previous posts. I do not think its the appropriate time of the year to fire Woodson. Its almost the All-Star break and we are currently in 4th. Not bad... I dont know of anyone on the current staff that would be able to step-in and help this team overcome some of its key issues such as missing Free Throws, starting off slow in the 1st quarter and playing inconsistent ball. My theory for most of this season has been mix up the starting five. The only times I have seen Woody mess around with the starting five is due to injury. As of now we have need to take a gamble like this. Otherwise we need to see a trade to add either a legit Center and shift Horford to PF or add another key player to the bench. MID JANUARY GRADE: D+ We have a loosing record but somehow we remain fourth in the East. * - Denotes Division opponent
  8. He never moves when he is the game.
  9. I had to have seen them play...For real, I haven't seen that many great players. Lets exclude that rule for me since I'm only 20. 1. Nique 2. Marovish 3. Mutomobo 4. JJ 5. Mookie Blaylock
  10. I actually really enjoy that song.
  11. I completely disagree with you. This is the most absurd thread ever. He may not have a good game today, but you know what part of the reason we are where we are this year is because of him. He def. is not having a great January but he is still averaging 16 PPG. I know its upsetting we loss tonight. We should have won this game. But the stat sheet read "The Hawks have not scored in the for 5 minutes..." there are other players who need to contribute on this team. Bibby only had 5 pts., Marvin and Smoove were missing layups near the end and its unacceptable. Woody can slightly be blamed for the loss. He probably should have taken Bibby or Marvin out and put in a hot Flip Murray or Mo Evans. But to suggest trading JJ the guy who averaged 25 PPG, 4 RPG and 6 APG is absurd. Here's my motto: Get with the team, or get off the board. I hate bandwagon fans!
  12. I dont watch NBA TV who is the guy who starts the interview? He has a pretty funny voice...Anyways who does G-P think he is? The way he begins his chat it seems like he is talking to his buddy over the phone LOL! "Are you going to come back to Houston next year?" -Cwebb "To where!?!?!" Mike "I mean are you going to come back to Atlanta?" - Cwebb His son is pretty good from what I hear. "Its two inches Webb, it's two inches Webb! thats what the league requires..." - Mike
  13. A win is a win my friend. I'll take it especially with 2 of our starters out. Our big three stepped up their games today, each scoring 20+ pts. J-Smoove outstanding game! Double-double! JJ was solid from the floor as well. Bibby distributed the ball pretty well but needs to try to minimize those turnovers.
  14. This is as whack as it gets in the pros. Stuff like this happens in High School. Acie was playing awesome.
  15. Here's the latest. http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/h...age_tab_newstab
  16. I dont understand what Speedy's deal is. How come he isn't even playing. Is he still hurt?
  17. Let me start off my saying the Hawks are currently 23-16. A very respectable record. We are fourth in the Eastern conference, and eighth in the league. Now, lets talk about the issues. Our team is inconsistent, our All-Star captain Joe Johnson said it and just about all the fans on this message board know it. I hate to be a hippocrat but we should not be blaming players every other night when we loose. Basketball is a 'team' sport, so we win as a 'team' and we loose as a 'team.' One thing we have to remember is that this is somewhat of a rebuilding year for the Hawks. I saw somewhat because we have all our starters back from last yr. (besides for Horford who is injured) but we loss Chilldress, Salim and brought in two new role players who have never played with our starting five or played for Mike Woodson. Mo Evans and Flip Murray are huge to this team. They are averaging 20 mins each. Mike Bibby and Horford who have only played for Woodson for about a year are most likely still learning nuts and bolts about the system. This brings me to my verdict? Is it time for change? Coaching or player wise. I am not suggesting a trade, firing personal....However, maybe when Horford comes back mix up the starting 5. Let Mo Evans starts at SG/SF or Flip Murray run the point and shift Bibby to SG. These are just a few ideas I am throwing out there. Nothing I am suggesting just change. At this point I think even letting Acie Law get some good minutes will help. It seems like some of these guys are tired and need some less minutes.
  18. Look the reasons I blame smoove is b/c he was the one down the stretch taking unnecessary shots. He had the ball in his hands and missed 4 shots within the last few minutes. By now Smoove should realize that he should not be taking those 20 footers when he is shooting less than 50% from the field.
  19. I hate to soley blame the game on one guy. But what it comes down to, is Josh Smith lost the game for the Hawks vs the Suns. Smoove took too many outside shots and tried to force several shots down the line. He did not execute down the line and it cost us. We have talked about this several times, JSmoove should be playing the inside game. No need for him to be taking 18 footers. I really think we should have one this game. Those two missed ft's by Marv were huge and Bibby did not need to force a 3PT when we were tied and had the ball. At that point of the game you set up a play and wait for the open shot. Just my two cents.
  20. Josh has been shooting well the past few games but he needs to focus more on defense and rebounding now that Al is out. We have scorers on the team in Mo, JJ, Bibby and occasionaly Marv. Smoove is supposed to be our shot blocker and rebounder who pounds the inside game when needed.
  21. Is today's game vs. Philly a must win? We have dropped 3 of the past 4. We lost two keys games to the division leader Orlando and blew a 21-pt lead to NJ. Philly is a team that will be fighting for one of the top spots in the East and we need to come out and play. We can not afford to be trailing by a large deficit going into the 2nd quarter. Play strong, uptempo and smart basketball. Don't force shots and make passes to players who arent open.
  22. Al is doing a fine job this season. Until this point I always thought he was capable of playing Center at an NBA level and be up there as one of the best Centers in the league. Now I feel that he is out of position and should be playing PF. He has a very nice outside shot for a center and his inside game is above average at best. Maybe its just the way the Hawks are playing with Marvin out or maybe its b/c we are shifting to a more perimeter shooting team. I think the Hawks should sign Marvin this off-season with plans of utilizing him as a 6th man and make an attempt to lure a true center like Boozer to Atlanta.
