  1. ...the ones who are left, that is. 2009 Census estimates show the city has lost over 46,000 residents since 2000, more than any US city outside of Katrina-impacted New Orleans, and percentage-wise a greater drop than any city except New Orleans and Flint, Michigan (Akron has the 13th highest estimated drop). The potential of LeBron abandoning Cleveland is a symbol of something much, much stronger than basketball. ~lw3
  2. LOL @ Clevelanders preparing for "LeBronfire" jersey burning parties. ~lw3
  3. At this late stage, my guess is he announces he's running as an Independent for Voinovich's US Senate seat. Then we'll see if Ohioans really love him like they claim they do. ~lw3
  4. C-Webb as an assistant coach >> Ty Hill. Just sayin' ~lw3
  5. I like Critt as well. Between the two, I prefer Livingston, as he's more mature, a little longer, has shown he's come back strong from that horrific injury, and has (hard to believe) playoff experience. ~lw3
  6. I was hoping for WE (STILL) NEED ANOTHER HERO, copying the music from Thunderdome, in honor of our Mad Max. ~lw3
  7. Hawks should be making a play for Mr. Livingston, I presume. ~lw3
  8. In the coming years, I hope Joe Johnson makes like his namesake Earvin, and remembers the Terry Teagle story. http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19900927&slug=1095249 ~lw3

  10. He never said he'd recruit the good ones! :-) Besides, that was his agent doing the sugarcoating. ~lw3
  11. Until recent years, he's always held animosity toward the city for praising David Robinson like a native son, while neglecting/booing him despite his high school years (His Cole High team went 68-1 during his two years there). Admiral stealing his scoring title in 1994 didn't help matters. Thus the dunk incident at the 1996 All-Star Game. A link from a 2001 article on Shaq and San An. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/DEEP+DOWN,+SAN+ANTONIO+(LOVES)+SHAQ-a083596330 And on the autograph signing: ~lw3
  12. Quiz: Where did Shaq play in High School? Also, don't forget the Alamo (and the Riverwalk)! Very underrated travel-wise, possibly the best city to visit in Texas. ~lw3
  13. In a market with a dearth of centers, Shaq and Brenda should, and will, get above the MLE. As long as the average amount offered stays under $6.5 million I'm fine with either one. ~lw3
  14. A hint of the contract Chillz may sign? I'm guessing he gets just a bit more. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AnkQEKj9WABvq6jpkpL5y5a8vLYF?slug=ys-freeagentbuzz070810 ~lw3

  16. If Chris Broussard is to be believed, by the time we hit our beds tonight we will be laying our heads down amidst an NBA division with: * At least 7 of the 12 representatives of the Eastern Conference All-Stars. including 4 of the 5 All-Star starters from last season; * 3 of the 5 reigning members of the All-NBA first team (and one All-NBA third-teamer, to boot); * 5 of the 10 reigning members of the All-NBA defensive teams, including the top 4 votegetters for Defensive Player of the Year; * One of basketball's greatest icons as its reigning MVP, and one of sports' greatest icons as a majority owner; * One (and quite possibly very soon, two) of the six winningest coaches in NBA history at the helm; * The league's reigning Sixth Man of the Year; * The number one pick in the NBA draft; * And the sitting home of NBA-TV and NBA.com and TNT's Ernie, Kenny, and Charles If You Know Who goes You Know Where, does the NBA's Southeast Division rise from perennial laughingstock to officially become the premier division in professional basketball? ~lw3
  17. To the extent I have a choice, I have to live in a town where there's an NBA team I enjoy rooting for. So I suppose that's important. ~lw3
  18. Correction, it'll be at the B&G Club in Greenwich, FWIW, with proceeds (whatever that is) going to B&G Clubs of America. ESPN crew will be nearby at their studio while Jim Gray conducts the interview. ~lw3
  19. Upon reading this news, Delonte West went to the Cavs management and demanded a contract extension ;-) ~lw3
  20. Alas... poor Newark... I knew them well. Not the worst thing for the Nets, they can still fill out their roster with better talent around Harris, Lopez, and Favors. I'm sure they wonder if things would've been different had they managed to get Wall. ~lw3
  21. How ironic that a year ago today, LeBron James made a decision that he DIDN'T want televised. Guarding Jordan Crawford at the rim at his own camp! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Seshx3DLK4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J63aAGZjrVo ~lw3
