  1. Quote: Ouch! When I finished my OB rotation, my comment whenever I was asked what I was going to specialize in was this: "I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but I know what I'm NOT going to do......OB/GYN." That's the only rotation I've been on that I was looking forward to ending. My favorite has been surgery. I love being in the OR, and there's nothing like healing someone with cold steel. Oh, and I also can't stand to be in a clinic setting 5 days a week. My wife loves that it is a little bit of both worlds. She loves the surgery (and the fact it isn't as much of a boys club as the normal operating room), and the continuity of care that comes with having long term patients. She did OB as her first rotation 3rd year, and has been in love with it ever since (she originally thought she wanted to be a cardiologist - but decided she didn't want to deal with 75% or her patients dieing within 5 years...) Oh, and FWIW - as a guy, if you went into OB, you could pretty much name the residency program you wanted to go to.
  2. Weez - good to see you back. Weird - it says you joined in 03, but I swear one of the reasons I joined this board was because you would post insider here. Hey - my wife starts her residency next week (OB Gyn) good luck to you.
  3. Quote: Yes, yes in fact I am. Chalk it up in the "more likely to happen than not" category. Wow. Big coup for you guys if that happens. I guess new management is ready and willing to move Gasol for a reasonable offer. This will be huge for you guys if it goes through.
  4. Quote: I thought Joe Johnson's salary went down over the years? ShamSports has it as an increasing salary as well. http://www.shamsports.com/content/pages/da...aries/hawks.jsp
  5. Quote: That said, BK may be also throwing off the FO staff with his thoughts. IMO, drafting Wright is contrary to the organizations goals of having a playoff team next season. Maybe he is factoring in the possibility of leaks thus sending up smoke signals. Wrights stock has been falling, what good does it do to leak that you might draft him. If anything it hurts the team because they are going to get fewer calls for a team looking to trade up to draft a highly rated player. Teams will look at Atlanta drafting Wright and think that they can get Horford at 4 and it will cost them less than having to trade up to the third pick.
  6. Quote: #3/Pierce to LAL Kobe to Phoenix Amare/Marvin/Atlanta's first 2008 (via Phoenix), #24, to Boston. #5/Jefferson to Atlanta. The Lakers aren't going to send Kobe to Pheonix.
  7. Quote: We would trade #3 and Chill with expiring contracts to Memphis for Pau Gasol Has Memphis lowered their asking price? It was my understanding that when Chicago was discussing trade Memphis was asking for Deng, Thomas, #9 and expirings. Do you think Memphis is going to cave to Pau's desire to get out? If so, that would be a hell of a trade for Atlanta.
  8. Quote: I think we can remake the team a little with a few good trades... Here's How I would play it: Marvin for Miller, 12, 21. I would package #12, Chillz, Zaza, and a future first 2010 for Gasol. Then... #3 = Yi. #11 = Critt. #21 = Morris Almond. Gasol, Yi, Smoove, JJ, and Miller. Lo, Solomon, Shelden, Almond, Salim, Speedy and Critt off the bench. First off, The Marvin / Miller trade doesn't come close to working under the rules of the CBA. Second, you are not getting Miller, 12 & 21 for Marvin. Way too much value Philly is giving up for a player who has failed to live up to his potential as of yet. Miler had a great year for the Sixers, the fans and the coaches loved him, and he has a reasonable salary with 2 years remaining. Additionally, who would the Sixers have play point? You just had them trade away their top two picks and their starting PG. Sure they filled their SF - but you left them empty at PG
  9. Quote: Quote: Who would you have signed? You've got an owner willing to dole out the cash, but you have to use it that off-season or lose it forever, who would you have signed? So they made a move just for the sake of making a move? Not a good idea when they had a younger player on a cheaper contract with a similar game. Of course being a Hawks fan i am really not in position to criticize any GM except maybe McHale or Isiah, but i don't see how dealing Chandler and signing Wallace helped them. They made a move to sign the best FA on the market - even if it was a weak market. And they replaced Chandler because they were done with his 5 years of injuries and inconsistent play. Chandler needed to move on, just like Curry, and Paxson realized signing Chandler to that contract was a mistake. (There is about 5 million dollars difference between Chandler and Wallaces contract) Paxson different draft Chandler, and I think was ready to end the Baby Bulls forever. Wallace manned the C better for the Bulls than Chandler ever did, period. Like I said though - just as many Bulls disagree with the Wallace signing as they do the TT pick. When the playoffs came around, I was glad it was Wallace we had at C.
  10. Quote: Ben Wallace was MORONIC move and I knew it at the time. Who would you have signed? You've got an owner willing to dole out the cash, but you have to use it that off-season or lose it forever, who would you have signed? As for the contract - it is a decreasing salary, and becomes an expiring the same year Lebron, Bosh, Wade become free agents. As for the rest - like I said roughly half of Bulls fans would agree with you on the TT pick. As for the hawks being better in the next couple of seasons. we'll see...
  11. Quote: Quote: Quote: Hell I'd take Derrick Byars over Jeff Green. No. God no. Not even close. Maybe an overstatement but still to say Jeff Green is as good of an NBA prospect as Al Horford is a joke. Okay, yeah - can't disagree with that.
  12. Quote: Hell I'd take Derrick Byars over Jeff Green. No. God no. Not even close.
  13. Granted this is only one Bulls fan opinion, and I could probably find an inexhaustible number of Bulls fans who agree with everyone of your points, but I will have to respectfully disagree. Quote: It seems like Gordon is mentioned in every trade rumor i have seen with the Bulls. Sure, because Deng is damn near untouchable, Hinrich is a BYC player (and Paxsons goldenboy), and Gordon is the second best player we have. Quote: Their undersized backcourt definitely hurt them against the Pistons and will continue to hurt them against good teams in the playoffs. I'd disagree. Our help defense and inability to get a bucket when it mattered is what killed us. Quote: The Bulls need a big who can score in the post and LMA can definitely do that. I am not sure if TT will ever be able to do it. Like I said - I'm not going to debate this pick for a couple of years. Paxson went for the home-run, maybe it pans out. TT was nearly universally believed to have the highest ceiling in the draft - lets see if it ever happens. LMA would not have been any good to us in last years playoffs - he was sitting out due to a heart issue - the last thing Bulls fans want to deal with. Quote: Frankly i think the Bulls blew it last offseason just like we did. I didn't like the Wallace signing or their draft pick. I think they definitely set themselves back. I liked the Wallace signing, but only because the alternatives were pretty underwhelming. We had the cap space available for one off-season, if we didn't use it last year it was gone (due to Hinrichs extension) - so if the owner was willing to splurge I was all for it. I'd have to say that last off-season was ultimately a success. The team got 49 wins and into the second round of the playoffs for the first time since a guy named Jordan played at the United Center. I think the reason the Bulls are mentioned in the KG/Kobe/ everyone else trade rumors is because of the talent Paxson has assembled and the success the team has had - I don't know how last year can be considered a set back.
  14. Quote: Quote: The only combine numbers I pay any real attention to are standing reach and vertical for big men. So it wouldn't bother you if Horford benched 185 pounds only 4 times? If its me, no, that wouldn't cause me too much concern. If I saw him out-muscle guys in college, I wouldn't worry too much about what he can bench laying on his back. Hell, any respectable teams weight training program can double and triple that number in a matter of weeks.
  15. Quote: ...Horford from Wright. (Wondered when that would happen.) http://www.draftexpress.com John G must have read ESPN this morning...

  17. Quote: I believe he does always say he drafted the BPA, and he should. There's nothing to gain by telling your newly-drafted player, "well, you weren't the *best* player available. There are several players drafted after you who are better." I was thinking more in the present tense as a draft strategy.
  18. Quote: Quote: JG, just like he did with TT, So do you think TT was a better pick than Aldridge or Roy would have been for the Bulls? Yes, in my opinion, TT was a better pick for the Bulls than Lamarcus or Roy. Roy wouldn't have gotten playing time over Hinrich, Gordon, or Deng - and wouldn't have been a big help in the playoffs where all three of those guys played increased minutes, and inside scoring was what we needed. Lamarcus would have been a fine pick, but wouldn't have helped much last season in the playoffs (when we would have needed him) seeing as he missed the end of the season with a heart ailment. Might Lamarcus turn out to be the better player (than TT)? Sure, but at this point we don't know. Last years #2 pick was like a free swing. Paxson took a flyer on the guy with the highest ceiling, but also probably one of the "rawest" in the draft. I don't expect TT to do much next year, but Chicago fans are used to waiting - look how long we gave Curry and Chandler. If TT isn't producing by Year 3 than I'm going to be a little upset - until then though its a waste of time to compare him to his draftmates. Everyone knew TT was raw and would take time, and that Roy and even Lamarcus were a more polished product. I think Chicago fans look at TT the way many Hawks fans look at Marvin. Half of them hated the pick, half loved it. Half are willing to wait a couple seasons to see if he pans out, the other half have already written him off as a bust.
  19. Quote: Articles came out this week stating how Yi's agent had to change strategy and let Yi word out for other teams and possibly even against competition. Yeah, that story was filed by Jonathan Givony - so far the only person not to be impressed by Yi. JG, just like he did with TT, has decided to pick one hyped player and go against the grain - dropping him while everyone else has them high on their draft boards.
  20. Quote: i live for the day the Hawks storm the playoffs to shut all this trendy criticism up. Hey Simmons, what the hell have the Celtics done in the last couple decades? Simmons has taken the opportunity in nearly every article he has written to rip Celtics Management, Coaches, and Players. I think e would be the last one that needs reminding the Celtics are awful.
  21. Quote: Quote: Any wonder why they would want Atlanta to take Horford over Yi? Yeah it is well known that Ainge wants Yi. And it is also known that Simmons is a rabid Celtics homer. It is also well known that Simmons thinks Ainge is incompetent, and even has the Celtics drafting Brewer with the fifth pick (Simmons favorite) So I'm not sure how advocating for the hawks drafting Horford serves any nefarious purpose. At this point nearly every mock and ranking had Horford as the third best talent in the draft. Doesn't BK say he always drafts BPA?
  22. I just don't think that Milwaukee would trade away the one position they are set at for 10 years (and one of the harder ones to fill) for a SG/SF with injury history and some miles on his legs.
  23. Any trade where Atlanta ends up with Dwight Howard will include both first rounders this year. But to be realistic, Orlando isn't sending Howard anywhere for anyone.
  24. Quote: personally, i think BK is saying he's interested in every player...the smokescreen is so thick, nobody has a clue what BK is going to do. Yes, but does BK know what he is doing?
  25. Good trade for GS and Atlanta, but why does Milwaukee do this?
