They are all trying to take that title from JR Rider. What else do they all have in common ? None have ever been a starter on a playoff team. Lol.. JR Rider trophy... Crawford has the longest active "never been on a playoff team" streak going. 8 straight years of sub .500 seasons for Crawford, and it isn't going to turn around this year.
  2. Quote: Quote: There's an interesting theory getting floated by Bulls fans that this happened as the precursor to a big trade. It does seem that Skiles isn't exactly loved by Bulls players. Big trade? Who ar they gonna trade for? Eddy Curry? Isaiah would be like . . "I'll give you Curry for Deng and Nocioni" Bulls are screwed this year. Tank 4 Rose Seriously though, I don't care what our record ends up being so long as we play Thomas & Noah 25 mpg. As for Curry - I think NY is ready to dump him for a ham sandwich. Curry is putting up 11.4 & 4.5 in December...

  4. Quote: I just don't understand the infatuation with Luol Deng. I would have done Deng/Gordon/Wallace for Kobe YESTERDAY. So would Paxson - too bad Kobe made it known that he would not accept a trade that removed Deng or Wallace from the Bulls. Paxson tried, and Kobe vetoed it. As for the infatuation with Deng - I think seeing what he did to Posey and the Heat in last seasons playoffs (26 & 9) at 21 years old is a big part of the man-love. He's putting up 20 & 7 in Dec, and I'd expect that those will be his numbers at the end of the year.
  5. Quote: Not neccesirily. The league reviews all flagrant fouls and can overturn them if the ref made the wrong call. For example...remember the "flagrant" foul by Hoffa on Marvin which was a joke. The league overturned that and he never received any fine or suspension. I don't know what's funner the horrible call or Steve's reaction. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6144399317124583419 Sorry - but there is no way the league overturns this one. I'm absolutely sure it was entirely accidental, but the fact of the matter is that Al pulled TJ to the ground by his face. He's getting suspended.
  6. Quote: where can i see the video...my game got cutt off before the postgame interviews. Video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=yyJkeuJ6RTM Sorry - but there is no way to avoid suspension on this one. I feel bad for Horford, he wasn't trying to hurt TJ, but he also didn't come close to getting ball. Its a gonna be a suspension, but even worse if there is a significant injury, Al is going to have to live with that.
  7. Quote: I understand he was caught up in the moment but why would his first reaction be to go jump in people's faces? I thought Woody was gonna throw him down. It was obvious even on the live-action sequence that it was not intentional. Horford already felt like crap let alone the god knows what Mitchell was saying. He was probably emotional, but that wouldnt have been my first reaction. I can't blame Mitchell, after everything he has been through with TJ - it was a very emotional reaction. Very much like a father-so relationship, and Mitchel was running out there to fight for his player. It wasn't a logical reaction - hence the reason he went at the ref and Woody - his reaction was borne out of the emotion of seeing his player laying motionless, the result of an oposing players foul.
  8. Quote: Quote: Wouldn't he have to take some kind of buy out for it to come off of the cap? I admit I am not up to date on all of the salary cap wrangling. No. He doesn't need to give up a penny of his contract to come off the cap. He does have to be certified by a doctor and can't just claim to be unable to play. It is pretty reasonable to think that he could qualify given his past history and the chronic nature of his problems. If he doesn't qualify, then keep trying to come back. But for the team, he should schedule an appointment and try to get approved for retirement to help the team. If he thinks that there is still a chance that he can play - why would he do that?
  9. Quote: If possible, try to dig up some of Acie's games from college. I think he matches up athletically with Casell at any age and he is very cerebral and well spoken which I also think is an important asset for a PG similar to a quarterback. Looking at his college games, you'll see he often took 3s from NBA range and have no doubt he will have increased accuracy once Woodson realizes how good this guy is. This guy was the steal of the draft. As I said in the forums when he was drafted, I still think he will win the ROY award and will be the centerpiece of our team for the future unless we do something stupid and get rid of him in a trade. --sf He's going to need to start averaging a hell of alot more than 2 assists in 20mpg to even be mentioned in the ROY race. And as long as a skinny kid in Seattle is putting up 20 a game - no one else has a chance.
  10. Quote: Quote: Maybe you haven't seen Ben Wallace this year...he's awful at everything including rebounding. That was really a horrible signing. Letting Chandler go, signing Wallace and drafting TT instead of Aldridge was pretty much a disaster of an offseason. Eh. We've debated this before - but... We didn't let Chandler go, we traded him for crap. Chandler was done in Chicago, he admitted as much, and the trade gave him a new purpose (like finally working out in the off-season, hiring a trainer, hiring a nutritionist - all things he did not do when he was in Chicago). I always liked Chandler (as opposed to that sloth Curry) and I am glad he is doing well in NO, but some times players just aren't mature enough to handle the situation they were thrown into. In Chandlers case it was being traded for Brand(god help me I'm still crying over that trade). He's been great in NO, but he wouldn't have produced in Chicago - he was done. We signed Wallace because he was the best FA available and we had one off-season of cap space before we lost it. The offer is descending, so he will be making less in year four than he is now. There are also rumors that the Wallace signing was done at the behest of our owner - who I am growing to loathe. Chandler would have been cast off at some point anyways - Paxson has gotten rid of every tie to the Krause era, Chandler was the last. Yes Ben has sucked this year - but he is also playing on a sprained ankle that he suffered in the last pre-season game - along with Noah. We have no one behind those two, other than 2nd round pick Aaron Gray. Wallace is toughing it out, but as soon as Noah is healthy expect Ben to sit. Wallace game is surely declining, but he was a 7/11.5/3/2 player in the second half of last season. He didn't suddenly morph into a 4rpg player overnight. As a Center, Aldridge is a hell of a jumpshooter. He shoots lights out, but we have a few jumpshooters on the team already, so I'm not sure that having our 7 footer hanging out where Kirk, Ben, Luol, Chris, and Andre like to shoot it would have been a good thing. I'm going to give them three years before I pencil in one team as a winner or a loser. Tyrus recent game gave us a glimpse of what he can do if he puts it all together. Add to that the fact that he has already made more jumpshots this season than he did all of last season, and we have reason to hope. Bulls fans are still bitterly divided over that draft, so we'll see... As for Noah - most fans are looking at his pick as a bonus. First because it was yet another Knicks lottery pick, and second because most Bulls fans would have picked him first had he come out the previous season. He has had a few problems holding onto the ball in pre-season, but if he wasn't injured he would be playing significant minutes at the 5 spot. But my team is playing like a giant pile of steaming crap - so what do I know?
  11. Quote: Quote: Bulls playing like hot garbage. Atlanta has looked really good so far. The Bulls will be up there before it is over. If we aren't, I'm thinking there is going to be a fire-sale...

Quote: He's good, but lets consider he played the Suns, who the next time they play D will be the first time. The next time Durant plays D, it will be the first time. Kid couldn't guard anyone in college - it will be years before he's capable of stopping anyone in the association.
  14. Quote: Having a PG guard the opposing team's 2 guard because your SG is undersized should from now on be called the Hinrich maneuver. LOL - thats funny as hell. FWIW - Hinrich is actually a much better defender against 2's. He is allowed to be more physical and can player tighter on his man, as opposed to smaller PG's where he tends to pick up quick fouls.
  15. Normally I don't care, but I have seen it like 6 times spelled this way in the thread. Who the hell is Heinrich? Its spelled H-i-n-r-i-c-h.
  16. Quote: Quote: Published: September 29, 1987 That was 10 years before Shaq left Orlando. The problem is that the players eventually DID win the battle. That is why we have UFA's today. Duh. What was the compensation that the Magic got when Shaq left? After all they offered more money so they should have been compensated. Diesel is arguing CBA rules from 20 years and 5 CBA agreements ago. I'm not sure why.
  17. Quote: Personally, don't get that excited about any theoretical Kobe trades for the Hawks. I think nowadays you can win in the NBA without a superstar if you have quality depth at every position, and in a way the Hawks are moving in that direction. If we had to lose Joe plus a couple more of our young guys, I don't know if we'd be much better off, plus Kobe wasn't happy winning 3 championships with Shaq, and now he's not happy leading in the league in scoring, so when's he gonna be happy? He can leave the Hawks in 2 years just like he can leave the Lakers, so I just don't see it. The last 17 championships(save Detroit) have been won by these guys: Tim Duncan Shaq Jordan Hakeem Detroit is the only team in the last 2 decades to win without a true superstar, and that 2003-2004 Pistons team had maybe the luckiest run in the history of the NBA playoffs. Realistically, all things being equal, Detroit was at most the 4th best team that year.
  18. Quote: No.. I have made up nothing. How were we able to match Koncak's offer from Detroit?? We have your position on Record now Ex... I look forward to seeing you giving the "Well i was mistaken" line later on in the offseason when Smoove becomes a target! Well - technically Atlanta didn't "match" the Pistons offer. Atlanta offered a 6yr 13.2 million deal, as opposed to the 1yr 2.5 million offer sheet Jon had signed.
  19. Quote: I can do without seeing that avatar lol. There must be some complaining on Chicago boards with TT going 1-7 last night and LMA going 12-19 for 27 pts against the Spurs. Of course there is. The board was split 50/50 at the time of the draft, and continues to be split pretty definitively. I give the kid one more season. If he still isn't giving 15/7/2 then he busted.
  20. Quote: this is why the trade won't happen. I don't know - I am on the fence about it - but I really do think a trade is going down. I think the trade is one reason that neither Deng or Gordon was signed to an extension so that Chicago could keep all of their options open. Word from Chicago insiders is that Ownership (Reinsdorf) is the one pushing the trade, and that Paxson has been given orders to make a deal happen.
  21. Quote: The third team will probably involve trading Ben Wallace. If they trade, Deng, Thomas, Gordon, Noah and Hinrich, there will be nothing else. Not in a million years. Chicago papers are reporting that the Bulls are willing to give up Hinrich/Gordon or Deng and one of the bigs. No way Chicago is trading the core - and no way Kobe would want to play in Chicago if they did. Kobe reportedly already turned down several offers that involved Deng - apparently he is jonesing to play next to him.
  22. Quote: It is better than the Chicago deal, although I would have misgivings on trading JJ who has been so damn loyal to our morbid franchise. Sure its better - but Chicago doesn't need to make a great offer. According to sources Chicago is the only team on Kobe's list right now. If Kobe decides he wants to play in Atlanta - you guys have more than enough pieces to get it done - but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for Kobe to make that decision.
  23. Quote: Quote: Since the 70s there has been a right of first refusal... in every CBA... Check it. IN 1994, the CBA was put forward with the RFA on it (it was passed in 1996). It was a change in name... to what was already a process. In the last CBA, the RFA was changed to apply only to first contract players. Now, they have the Gilbert Arenas Clause which changes everything... However, like I said, the right to match was always there. Might not formally have been called RFA... but it was there. Hahaha, dude stop making up crap. And please, let me hear you explain the Gilbert Arenas Clause because I seriously doubt you understand it. That particular Clause has yet to be used and pertains 0 to this topic. The Gilbert Arenas rule is used all of the time. The Bulls were able to match Toronto's offer for Chris Duhon because Toronto could only offer Duhon the MLE (Bulls were over the cap at the time.)
  24. Quote: About the Gilbert Arena Clause, it basically says that teams that are trying to acquire a player cannot offer him more than his original team can pay him. or to quote: Quote: With the previous CBA it was sometimes possible to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets their original teams couldn't match. This happened when a player was an Early Bird or Non-Bird free agent (see question number 19) and the team didn't have enough cap room to match a sufficiently large offer. For example, Gilbert Arenas was Golden State's second round draft pick in 2001, and became an Early Bird free agent in 2003. Golden State therefore could only match an offer sheet (or sign Arenas themselves) for up to the average salary (see question number 24), which was about $4.9 million. Washington signed Arenas to an offer sheet with a starting salary of about $8.5 million, which Golden State was powerless to match. This loophole was addressed in the current CBA (although not closed completely -- see below). Teams are now limited in the salary they can offer in an offer sheet to a restricted free agent with one or two years in the league. The first-year salary in the offer sheet cannot be greater than the average salary (see question number 24). Limiting the first year salary in this way guarantees that the player's original team will be able to match the offer sheet by using the Early Bird exception (if applicable -- see question number 19), or Mid-Level exception (provided they haven't used it already). That gives the players original team all the power. That makes rFA really restricted. WHO is making up stuff?? Show me where! Diesel - I went ahead and bolded the important part of that quote. The "Gilbert Arenas Rule" applies only to second round and undrafted free agents. Those are the only players who become restricted after 1 or 2 years. This rule does not apply to any player drafted in the first round. Teams can offer RFA's with at least 3 seasons of service as much money as they want. Original teams have the right to match without salary cap implications.
  25. I'm a Bulls fan (obviously) and even I don't think I could do that to the Hawks. That Gordon/Wallace for Kobe trade would have been my wet dream come true.
