  1. Every teams fans have posted this same post on their teams board. Just because Portland chooses to publicize it doesn't mean that other teams players aren't doing the same. Chicago (the team I know) regularly have their starters (sans B Wallace) working out at their facility throughout the offseason. Hinrich, Deng, Gordon, Duhon, Thomas, Noah, and Gray have all been routinely working out at the Berto Center. (Deng is currently playing for GB, Duhon is doing Basketball without borders, and Hinrich was at Team USA camp) I'd guess that quite a few teams have a core of players working out together in the offseason regularly.
  2. Quote: When Ty Lue is on his A game he does the same things that Miller does. No he doesn't. And Ty's "A" game comes around once or twice a season.
  3. Quote: Or was it just that Wojo can't develop big men despite his awesome career as a college center?...wait...of yeah, he was a 5 foot nothing pg. John Wooden did a pretty good job coaching big men, and he was all of 5'10". It's stupid to think you have to be a big man to coach big men.
  4. Quote: Quote: "Mismanaged as they may be, they have Andre Miller, and he's really something." LOL. That line made me laugh too. He's really something, eh? Well what exactly is he? He's a competent point guard, no more and no less. He averages around 14 points per season, 7 assists, is a pretty good shooter, an excellent free throw shooter, and shows the leadership qualities you'd want and expect from a veteran point. He'd be a nice piece to have on any team, but Bucher's making it sound as if he's a difference maker or an elite player, and he's simply not and never has been. How do you think Atlanta would look with a PG who could give you 13 & 8 & 4? Miller is top ten in points and assists for PG's as well as 8th in AST/TO ratio among starting PG's. He's not a "superstar", but he is clearly a difference maker on the court. Look at the trash he was playing with in Philly (other than Iggy), and he still put up those numbers.
  5. Quote: Didn't Nique blow out his achilles as well once? He did. In the 91-92 season. He came back the next season and averaged 30 & 7.
  6. Quote: Let's just say that it's no coincidence that Marvin has played 143 games over his career, whereas fragile Chris Paul has only played 142. The man knows what he's doing. ROFLMAOBBQ! You guys are ruthless.
  7. Quote: we were also undermanned; missing someone by the name of al horford; u may know him as the #3 pick but, but, but - we were double undermanned, we were missing both TT and Noah...

    Game 4

Quote: Is there a box score out yet? Word. Aaron Gray will not be stopped. http://www.nba.com/media/jazz/rmr07Game08.pdf
  9. Oh SnaP! Undermanned Chicago team edges out the Hawks in Summer League action.
  10. Will Chicago have anyone to deal with Shell Williams? With Tyrus gone who is going to check Horford (is he playing?) Can JamesOn keep up with Acie Law? Will Thabo bother to show up? Does Aaron Gray have a pulse? Will Noah cheer on his teammates from the bench? Two teams enter... One team leaves...
  11. Quote: also NOT trading for Gasol last year. With Gasol the Bulls are a much more complete team than they were. The cost was fairly high, if the rumors were correct (Gordon and Deng?), but Gasol gives them that inside threat they really need (and still don't have). Outside what has been mentioned, Pax has done an excellent job w/ the Bulls. But he has money to spend, unlike BK (and Wadell). This is what I don't understand. The asking price (as reported) was Deng, Gordon, and the NY pick that the Bulls owned. Lets say the Bulls made that trade - who are they left with? Hinrich, SG?, Nocioni, Gasol, Wallace. That team isn't going anywhere - and they have no one to play SG. Paxson made the right move IMO. Gasol isn't worth that - especialy when Deng is putting up similar numbers and you are losing Gordons 22ppg. Having Gasol in the post would be great - but not if you have to trade away all of your shooters (who would benefit from Gasols presence) to get him. The Wallace signing is debatable - depends on if he comes to play this season. At least the contract is declining, and ends the same year Lebron, Wade, Bosh all become FA's. The Chandler signing was probably a mistake - but Chandler had earned that contract 2004/2005 - then pissed it all away by not doing a damn thing to prepare for the 2005/2006 season. I don't blame Pax for dumping his ass - Chandler was the last link to the "Baby Bulls" and wasn't willing to put in the work the other players on the team were already doing.
  12. Quote: I would also like the GM of the Bulls (don't know his name). He has done a great job since Krause stepped down. Of course if we had him Walter would dog him for years for drafting Ben Gordon ahead of Wade and Bosh. All in all I think he has done a good job. Gordon was drafted in 2004 - Wade and Bosh were in the 2003 draft. Chicago had the 7th pick in the 2003 draft and chose Kirk Hinrich (J Williams had just finished his run as SuperDave by crashing his bike and ending his career) Paxson tried to trade up to 4 to draft Wade (a hometown product) but couldn't get a deal worked out.
  13. Quote: Zaza Pachulia plays center, and he’s taller and stronger than Williams, who’s listed as 6-foot-9 but who seems closer to 6-7. Unless Shelden is playing barefoot he is 6'8.5" Why do writers do that? We know how tall Shelden is - they measured him before the draft.
  14. Quote: Yi played in the CBA. Solomon Jones could have been ridiculous in that league. And yet he was underwhelming playing at South Florida. 13pts in 36 minutes a game? Shot 48%. Quote: To put things into perspective Solomon Jones tested out to be significantly faster than the best POINT GUARD from the CBA.He would have been easily outrunning and outjumping the competition. Jones tested out as the 41st best athlete at the pre-draft camp. David Noel tested out as the best athlete - how did that work out for him? He can jump high. Congrats.
  15. Quote: Quote: There have been a litany of big time athletes who couldn't do squat in the NBA. He's 23 years old, I think his window for being a "project" is starting to close. Dude Yi is the same age! Yi has actual basketball skills. (Waits for someone to mention Summer league)
  16. Quote: freaking Solomon Jones may have the most extension in the League! Talk about sleeping on a guy. There have been a litany of big time athletes who couldn't do squat in the NBA. He's 23 years old, I think his window for being a "project" is starting to close.
  17. Quote: Just to have something else to talk about, here is a fun exercise. If you had a chance to build a team using ALL NBA players from all eras, who would you pick first? This assumes you get the player during his best years, not at the beginning, not at the end, but those magical 4-5 years when they are really, really good. Jordan? Certainly the most dominant player of his era. Magic? Helped the Lakers to championships during the 80s Bird? Great scorer, could dominate games and led the Cs to titles Kareem? A truly great center And the list can go on. My choice: Shaq- why? When he was at his best, he was unstoppable. There has never been anyone in the NBA that could stop him when he wanted to score. Plus, he can rebound, block shots, and plays the hardest position to fill. Your choices now... If we want we can make this a true draft game where once a player is picked you can't take him. Up to everyone though. Good idea. If I had to choose I'd probably take Jordan (I know, big shock) He was the biggest prick of his time but he was also a winner. No one hated to lose more than he did. Bill Russell makes it a tough choice, but I'd take Jordan.
  18. Orlando salary is at 39million before the Lewis signing. They would have had to renounce Darko to fit Lewis with his new uber contract under the salary cap.
  19. Quote: Quote: Well they clearly got that impression and it is BK's job to make sure they know. If BK didn't want them to leave, then he would have told them not to take the job. Obviously, he didn't tell them that because they took the job. You really don't know that. Unless you have talked to Fiz and/or Drew. It is more complicated than simple. This ain't checkers. So... They took the job even though they knew they wouldn't be allowed to leave? Umm... Okay.
  20. Quote: why was he able to do that? is it because he returned to school after not being drafted? I meant to say 2006 draft. He was a FA because he made himself draft eligible and went undrafted. Just like if a senior enters the draft and becomes a FA if he isn't drafted. Morris was a unique situation in that he was an underclassmen who stayed in the draft and was undrafted. There is talk of closing that loop hole, but it is still wide open right now.
  21. Morris went undrafted in the 2005 draft (he never signed with an Agent) - making him a FA. He wisely chose to return to school (he had to pay back whatever benefits he got during the draft process. The whole time he played at Kentucky last season he was a NBA free agent. He could have left at any time and signed with an NBA team. He finished his season at Kentucky and signed with New York.
  22. Quote: Cenk Akyol is training with Tim Grover in Chicago right now. Billy Knight, Gary Fitzsimmons, Terry Knight, and Mike Woodson are supposed to go watch him sometime next week. Cenk will then leave to play for Turkey's national team this summer. Tim Grover thinks Cenk Akyol can make the Hawks roster. Cenk is 6'6" and can shoot from anywhere on the court according to Tim Grover. Fixed.
  23. Quote: deng/iggy aren't really much better than chill, and it's still early in all of their careers Wrong. I won't speak for Iggy, but if you think Deng and Josh are the same player you are dead wrong. So you wouldn't trade Chill for Deng straight up? Childress per 40 numbers have held steady at 13.5 & 7 each of his three seasons. Dengs have been at 19 & 7.7 Last seasons PER Deng's PER 18.79 Josh's PER 16.24 3 yr avg PER Deng's PER 17.09 Josh's PER 15.81 Deng is the better scorer - although Childress clearly has the better 3 point shot. I'd give the Chidress the edge on defense although it is alot closer than many here might believe. Any metric you might want to use - including eyeball - have Deng on top. Like I said - I am not going to speak to whether Iggy ranks or not - but Deng is clearly the better player between th two.
  24. It is Summer League. Lets see him get those shots up against real live NBA players.
  25. Unbelievable class. Hooray for Chicago - we drafted 2 guys who were crap in high school!
