  1. Quote: I appreciate your restraint. it's remarkable. I'm trying... Anyone that thinks Deng is the first option on the Bulls, hasn't watched any Bulls games.
  2. Quote: COME ON BILLY, CONSIDER BIBBY WE'D BE TOPS IN THE EAST AND WONT HAVE TO GIVE PHOENIX A GOOD DRAFT PICK So Mike Bibby is going to make the Hawks a top team in the East? Ummm. Step away from the crystal meth.
  3. Quote: Deng's stats have benefitted from being designated as the #1 option. FGA's Bulls: Gordon - 16.3 Deng - 14.9 Hinrich - 13.3 Ben Gordon is the #1 option on the Bulls. Dengs stats have benefited from the fact he is a damn good shooter from mid-range. Quote: I think that Marvin would put up similar numbers if he was the #1 option, and he pretty much did when JJ, lue and Speedy went down for the season. I'm sorry - are you comparing what Marvin did on a last place team over the last 2 weeks of the season (playing 45 minutes a game) to what Deng did all season playing for a playoff team fighting for position? Deng avg 26/9/3 against Miami in the first round, and 20/9/2 against Detroit where he was basically playing 1 on 5. You're right though - Marvin has definitely shown he would put up the same numbers.
  4. Quote: If they renounce, then they still have an opportunity to do a S&T. It becomes less likely because of cap room concerns, but renouncing a player doesn't mean you can't still S&T. My bad - you are absolutely right.
  5. Quote: Something tells me that Darko is going to get something like $45 million over 5 years - Maybe $48 million over 6 years based upon his youth and still unrealized potential. Any NBA team in the leauge can just loft on the extra year to take Atlanta out of the bidding - and will if we ever get serious. Only a team with Bird Rights can offer 6 years. In this case the Orlando Magic. If the Magic have renounced Darko, they are no longer able to do a S&T, meaning Darko is at the mercy of the teams with cap room - or he will have to accept the MLE. Word out of Chicago is that if Nocioni truly wants to play in Memphis, Pax would consider renouncing him to clear cap space to make a run at Darko.
  6. Quote: July 17th -- HORFORD vs. NOAH --- HAWKS vs. BULLS !!! Noah isn't playing in the Summer League games - he has a rotator cuff injury he is rehabbing. Most likely frontcourt will be Thabo, TT, & Gray
  7. My god - he looks like a 12 year old lesbian.
  8. Atlanta can't have him. He's ours.
  9. Quote: I also think Jeffries will step in and add some defense and maybe Sf starter making Artest SG... Shouldn't a SG be able to - shoot? For the Knicks it wouldn't be a bad idea - they are going to run the offense through Zach and Curry. Although the last time Artest played with a dominant low post presence he had a hard time deferring (anyone remember what happened in Indiana?)
  10. Quote: Memphis is starting over. That includes getting rid of cap and getting rid of an unhappy Gasol. Midseason he was not demanding a trade. Getting young quality players with lesser contracts is the right direction for them right now. They are no where near competing right now. Actually I think they are probably the worst team right now in the league. We need to make a play for Gasol now. We are on the cusp of being a competitive team and we need that second player to compliment Joe to make us team to reckon with. Gasol is the Perfect player for us and his contract although high is not outrageous for what he brings to the table. Plus we have him for 4 years to help make this team a top tier Eastern team. With Paxsons reluctance to part with Gordon or Deng, I think Atlanta has more to offer than Chicago - especially if Horford is in play.
  11. Quote: I will give you that they're crazy. However, if all you have to give up is Lee and you lose James... You got to do the deal... Crazy is what NY is about anyway. If he does get Artest, depending on where he plays him, NY will be the most physical team in the game. On offense - sure. On defense? They'll be Artest (very good) & the 4 sieves. How good are Marbury, Crawford, Randolph, & Curry on defense. I'd say pretty piss poor.
  12. Quote: No reason why Solomon Jones can't be a significant contributor off the bench if he puts on some weight. The guy is a first class athlete. 6'10 with almost a 40" vert is pretty sick. Harold Miner was a pretty spectacular athlete. We saw how his career turned out...
  13. Quote: they will be the top team in the east by a large margin. He would be the perfect compliment to Hinrich/Gordon/Wallace/Deng. I still have high hopes that the Hawks figure out a deal to get him to Atlanta. I think bringing in Pau would make us one of the top 3 - 4 teams in the East and we will get even better as our younger guys develop. We have young talented redundant players (Marvin/Sheldon/Chill/Zaza) along with cap space (Lue/Lo/AJ/Salim) that we can offer in some combination that could be appealing to Memphis. Personally I would like to hold on to Chill and Zaza but I would offer any 2 of the talent and any of the cap space players to get it done. As much as I would love to see Gasol in Chicago, I just don't think it will happen. At the trade deadline Memphis was asking for Deng, Gordon, and the pick - Pax wouldn't do the deal then, and i don't see him doing anything close to that now. Memphis looks like they are going the Toronto route and trying to sign International players to pair with their International star. So far Memphis has been linked to Varejo, Nocioni, and Navarro. If Memphis is looking to deal Pau, I don't know why they would be going after those players.
  14. Quote: This is BS by the way, as long as you offer him the contract option each year you'll retain his rights. I suggest you read the CBA. Quote: Section 4. Negotiating Rights to Draft Rookies. (a) A Team that drafts a player shall, during the period from the date of such NBA Draft (hereinafter, the “Initial Draft”) to the date of the next Draft (hereinafter, the “Subsequent Draft”), be the only Team with which such player may negotiate or sign a Player Contract, provided that, on or before the July 15 immediately following the Initial Draft (for a First Round Pick), or in the two (2) weeks before the September 5 immediately following the Initial Draft (for a Second Round Pick), such Team has made a Required Tender to such player. If a Team has made a Required Tender to such a player and the player has not signed a Player Contract within the period between the Initial Draft and the Subsequent Draft, the Team that drafted the player shall lose its exclusive right to negotiate with the player and the player will then be eligible for selection in the Subsequent Draft. (b) A Team that, in the Subsequent Draft, drafts a player who (i) was drafted in the Initial Draft, (ii) received a Required Tender from the Team that drafted him in the Initial Draft, and (iii) did not sign a Player Contract with such first Team prior to the Subsequent Draft, shall, during the period from the date of the Subsequent Draft to the date of the next NBA Draft, be the only Team with which such player may negotiate or sign a Player Contract, provided such Team has made a Required Tender to such player by the dates specified in Section 4(a) above. If such player has not signed a Player Contract within the period between the Subsequent Draft and the next NBA Draft with the Team that drafted him in the Subsequent Draft, that Team shall lose its exclusive right, which it obtained in the Subsequent Draft, to negotiate with the player, and the player will become a Rookie Free Agent as of the date of the next NBA Draft. So long as Yi sits out and does not have a professional contract with any other team, the Bucks will lose his rights next year.
  15. Quote: The problem with per 40 numbers is that they are not real. You tell me per 40 Curry is 30 pts, 20 rebounds.. Does that mean he's a 30 pt, 20 rebound guy? No, that could mean that in 10 minutes per, he averaged 7.5 ppg, and 5 rebs.. That says nothing about what will happen in 20, 25 or 30 minutes. In fact, you might expect those numbers to drop with more time.. Except that historically per 40 numbers are pretty reliable. Thats why most of the metrics used to measure player performance are based around 40. Especially if you have 6 seasons worth of data to measure it against as you do with Curry. Over Curry's last 5 seasons his per 40 numbers haven't varied by more than 2.5pts and 1.5rebs all the while he played for 5 different coaches and two different teams and went from 20mins to 35 mins a game. For the record, Curry is a 22 & 8 per 40 guy. Not exactly mind blowing, especially when you factor in the non-existent defense.
  16. Quote: Like it or not, Curry is a lot better than originally thought. Curry is no different a player than he was in Chicago. He's just playing more minutes than he ever did because Isiah needs to justify what he gave up in the trade. Isiah apparently also doesn't mind that Curry is a sieve on defense and doesn't bother to jump for rebounds or pass the ball. Lets not even talk about his turnovers... His per 40 numbers are identical to when he was in Chicago. Isiah is running an NBA Live team, how has that worked out for him so far?
  17. Quote: And compared to us, the Bulls are old. Look at PJ Brown and Wallace ages compared to Smoove and Horford who are both 21. Meanwhile those two are about on the wrong side of 30. Then again they do have Thomas and Noah as their future. Ben Gordon is 24 Kirk Hinrich is 26 Luol Deng is 22 Tyrus Thomas is 20 Joakim Noah is 22 Thats the Bulls future. Not PJ Brown.
  18. Quote: Acie Law = Kirk Hinrich Al Horford = Ben Wallace Put down the kool-aid son. Acie has to beat out Speedy first.
  19. Oh yeah. thats a good idea. Trade away the one guy on their team that plays hard for another head case. Zach Randolph & Ron Artest on the same team. That will end well. They do realize their is only one ball right? Zach wants to be the man. Artest wants to be the man. Isiah told Eddy he was the man. Marbury played last year like he was the man.
  20. Quote: Especially when you consider that Speedy salary is front loaded. His last year or two with us he won't be making 5 mil...more like 4 or maybe even 3 and some change. Speedy's last 2 years are paid at 5.7mil and 5.2mil.
  21. From the CBA: Here is the relevant section of the NBA CBA Section 4.
  22. Quote: he cannot play basketball professionally for a year. period. if he plays in China professionally Milwaukee retains his rights. if he signs with another team overseas after next year Milwaukee retains his rights. in essence Yi will have to quit playing ball professionally for a year between now and the time he's 90 to get out of his situation with the Bucks. that's extremely unlikely. Or he could just spend another year playing for the Chinese national team. Not out of the realm of possibility. Especially if his handlers want to use him as an example for any future NBA clubs looking to draft Chinese players.
  23. Quote: I love it that Draftexpress has posted all of the pre-draft measurements since 2000 on their site. Kudos to them. So, I took all drafted players from 2000 - 2006, and trimmed it down by selecting only those players who are: a.) between 6'8.25 and 6'9.25 in height w/o shoes b.) weigh w/in 15 lbs. of Horford (246) c.) have a wingspan with 2 in. of Horford's (7' 0.75") d.) have a standing reach within 2 in. of Horford's (8' 11") e.) were lottery picks The result was a very short list of only six players: Kris Humphries Nick Collison Etan Thomas Amare Stoudemire Kenyon Martin Charlie Villanueva Make of the list what you will, but three of those players spent at least some time at center for their team's last season (Collison, Stoudemire, Thomas). Credit for all Pre-Draft Measurement information goes to Doug Thonus from the RealGM Chicago Bulls board.
  24. Quote: Quote: Quote: According to what was stated by the NBA experts, Yi is still under contract to his CBA team. They will not waive his rights for him to go to Milwaukee. Bilas stated that Milwaukee would lose his rights if he went back to china last night and the other talking heads agreed with him. Either way, He does have other options that he can take. He does not have to play in the NBA to make money. Oh, I agree completely that Yi has all the leverage. Both as an international player, and especially being from China. I just think Milwaukee is going to get better offers without having to give up their own first rounder. The rights situation I'll have to investigate - thats not how I read the rules to be. You might get a better offer, but don't think that Marvin, Lue, and filler is trash like you stated. I only wanted the first is because we gave ours to the Suns and I wanted us to play next year. I was prob a little harsh using the word "trash".
