2022-23 NBA Season Has Officially Started: Notes/Tidbits/Updates etc.
RedDawg#8 replied to JayBirdHawk's topic in Homecourt
I really did not know they were in town filming. I would have gone for sure. That’s super cool -
They’re a team of underdogs and try-hards with great coaching and player development. They’re the antithesis of our squad. They do all the little things well, and it makes the big things come easier for their guys. Our biggest issue is ball watching on both ends of the floor. Smart savvy teams like Toronto, Miami among others take advantage of this by sneaking behind our guys for loose balls, offensive rebounds, run-outs, back doors, etc… all the dirty work plays that cancel out talent. Trae and Murray have to set the tone against these teams that we will be locked in, protect the ball, make smart decisions.

Kyrie is a joke. Sad waste of undeniable talent. -
You might be on to something there

I have been avoiding this place due the ugly nature of the Toronto game. So, sounds like we are blowing up the whole roster, blaming JC again, and firing Nate 7 games in to the season despite a winning record and enduring a tough, long road trip? The usual doomsday formula around here, right? Alright, well carry on then

Unless I missed something, which is entirely possible, I thought the Ime situation was he had an inappropriate yet CONSENSUAL relationship within the organization. Meaning it violated their conduct policy but was not anything inherently malicious or illegal. i.e What 2 adults choose to do is their business, but once it’s public and causes a distraction in the workplace, we can hold you accountable. The Celtics used the specific term “consensual” meaning there was nothing coerced or predatory about it. The unnamed persons involved made the decision to be involved with him too. That being said, Ime’s presence within the Celtics organization may now be a distraction or disruptive to normal operations, but that doesn’t mean he will be the same distraction elsewhere. -
To your point, about the same number of teams fall in the range of 210-220 lbs on average. This is also weighted towards minutes played and our top minutes guys are Trae and Murray, 2 cats under 200lbs each.

In before the game to remind everyone that Giannis is universally regarded as a top 3 basketball player on the planet, and arguably regarded to as the best basketball player in the world. He is off to an amazing start to the season averaging 35, 13 & 6 on 63% shooting. Just want to be transparent here before we pile on JC and Clint for not being able to defend Giannis 1 on 1. Nobody in the world can stay in front of Giannis 1 on 1. He is playing like prime Lebron/Shaq right now. You defend Giannis by showing him a crowd and making him a passer. If he goes off tonight, it’s not on any single player, it will be on Coach Nate or the entire 5-man unit for not executing the gameplan. That is all. Here’s to a great game tonight. We got this!

We going to have to start calling Justin Holiday J-Brick, or just Brick for short. It wouldn’t be so bad if dude just stopped shooting so much. He needs to realize ain’t nobody coming to see him shoot. Get the ball to someone else and go play defense. -

This is what carried us in our 2021 run under Nate. We became a 4th quarter team that knew how to win down the stretch. Part of this is it takes Nate all game to find out whats working. Either way, I would be ecstatic if we kept this up over the course of a full season. We need some sort of identity on defense -
We need to at least split with Philly and Toronto. We need to win against Knicks, Utah, and Sac We need at least 1 of the 3 against Milwaukee And we need to win at least 1 against either Cleveland, Boston, New Orleans. That’s your 7 wins. That’s doable. I think we have a shot at more.

We didn’t need Justin Holiday. We didn’t need to make a move. We need spacing.

I think it’s safe to say that trading Kev away for Harkless and J Holiday just to avoid the tax is looking like a really bad move. Kev would fit in so nicely with this group. I can’t look at Holiday jack up another bad shot. I miss Bogi, and I pray JHol doesn’t get back on the court once Bogi returns.

If Nate is scared to bench Justin then just play a 10 man unit and give AJ a chance at regular mins.- 495 replies

Maybe Justin’s not that much of a savvy defender afterall. And if that’s the case, he is not good enough on offense to be ahead of AJ -

AJ has NBA game on offense. Enough with this rookie treatment. Let him play next to the vets and stretch his legs. -

Bruh, he wont know what to do. The answer is play AJ, but why switch it up because it makes sense, right? -

Love sitting a hot Murray because or pre-determined rotations. Screw the gameflow and rhythm -

Be prepared for small(er) ball once Bogi returns. You know Nate is going to bench JJ first and use JHoliday as a combo forward instead. -

Agreed. Gradually working in “1” rookie with limited minutes and eventually earned extended minutes is not going to make the difference between contending or not. There are 8-9 other players who are vets on the court getting well over 90% of the minutes. You cannot learn NBA speed in practice or from the bench. You learn how to process information at the NBA level by playing in real games against NBA players. Compounding the issue is when there is glaring weakness of the team, shooting, that a player in uniform can help address, but because he is a rookie, you don’t think he has earned his spot yet. AJ should have an opportunity ESPECIALLY while we wait on Bogi.- 495 replies
