  1. Marvin: Ahh yeahhh look at me yall imma bout to go Chef Boyardee up in this. Josh:.......you know we're cooking duck right?
  2. since the 'Squawk has been a little slow lately I figured its time we as fans play the officially unofficial game of the board: Caption This! Today I found two pictures online that I thought were humorous, try to be creative and come up with the best line to describe them! Image #1 Image #2 sites for credit: http://bleacherreport.com/gallery/Atlanta%20Hawks%20Thanksgiving%20Event http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2009/12/3/1183899/zaza-pachulia-shows-chairs
  3. could we use that 2 million TE that we got from the Willie Green trade? that would help absorb some of his salary.
  4. im probably in the minority but these from the 70's were my favorite.
  5. I never really heard of him so I guess I didn't know better lol. I mean the US has the best team in the tournament and he was showing up for a little while.
  6. Al is a great center, i'm not taking anything from that. All i'm saying is after D12 and maybe Tyson Chandler there a few true centers in the east. Al's performance and effort at this position was the reason he was an all-star in previous years. Now with Chandler in the east Al is gonna have to play at an even higher level (which I think he can) to get the nod, even in a reserve role.
  7. I'm watching the US basketball game right now and even though it's the first quarter this guy is going all out for Nigeria right now. They said he was a free agent on tv so what do you guys think? He looks impressive but I know very little about him.
  8. i'll leave it at this. we have very different views on Al but we will find out what leadership material he has this year. Teague was a monster in that series, especially on defense against Rose. That series is the reason why he starts for us today. Joe also had his last great game for us in that series. He even carried us for a game or two.
  9. How is that laughable? He was very soft in the 2011 playoff series against Chicago. That was a very weak series for him. Zaza, Ivan Johnson, and maybe Stevenson are the toughest players on the team today.
  10. Firstly, let me say that the fact you posted an 'insult' over a message board shows a lot about your own maturity level. Especially against someone who has a different opinion. And while you have been a 'fan' for longer that doesn't necessarily mean you know the team better. This is false. Secondly, I did notice what you said about Al being the only player on the team with heart. This is also false. Zaza, Smoove (although he made bad mistakes), and others wanted this team to succeed. That is very clear with their body language last season. Now, you said that Al has a 'legacy' (as in the 'go to leader') with the Hawks...this is also false for now. This is not University of Florida basketball. Al is a vital piece but he DID NOT LEAD this team. If you remember their demeanor when Joe was here it was very submissive until recently. I'm sure Al believes he is a leader (since he was the leader of the Dominican Republic basketball team) but he had a role while JJ was here and he fit into it. JJ was the leader of our team (even though most of us hated it) that's why Smoove wanted out. With JJ gone we will see who will finally have a legacy with this team. And right now Smoove is winning.
  11. I say 14 ppg/7apg. He's gonna get more opportunities with Joe out of the way but Harris and Lou will take some of his points away. I expect him to drive into the pain and then kick out to our shooters.
  12. it really is, even if Smoove has a career year this year he might not get a selection due to the east being deep in 4's/3's. one thing Josh has to work on is his turnovers and offensive efficiency which lacked last season. he practically became a high-volume SF/PF with slightly above average results. kinda like Gilbert Arenas several years ago. in all seriousness Scrub and I are good friends. I actually told him about this site but I would like to keep this mature and discuss our differences because I am not as high on Horford being the man. The one thing you gotta remember Scrub, is that Al (although he is an all-star like you said) has not had a lot of solid time at the 4 IN THE NBA. I know he has been our best option over the years at center but I do not think Ferry will keep Al at the 5 for the majority of the season. instead, he will probably play a lot of time at the 4 and Smoove possibly at the 3. so for all we know Al might have trouble playing Power Forward in the NBA as he has shifted most of his skills (exception being that jumper) to dealing with other centers in the league. you factor this transition with Joe out of the picture on top of all our new pieces and that's a lot of change for less than a year. i'm not saying Al will do bad at his natural position but even he will have to change his play and from what i've seen from him i'd say that he will never be THE GUY but a solid #2. in fact, Smoove will probably be the leader of this team unless Al becomes a more vocal person.
  13. he's barely an all-star which is mostly due to the fact that there is no depth at 5 in the east (with the exception of D12). Smoove would've been an all-star if he was in a similar situation as Horford. I'm not hating on Al, just being realistic. Al and Josh will have a chance to finally get the green light with Joe gone so this is the season we'll see what they are made of.
  14. here's a good question, how do you guys see Horford this season? With JJ gone what has changed to his role on both sides of the court?
  15. one factor that many people forget to mention is that JJ effectively ran professional hockey out of Atlanta. while I do not blame Joe for signing a max deal (who wouldn't?) it dried up the cash flow for the ASG, thus committing almost all of their budget to the Hawks.
  16. anybody know how much Green signed for (that would determine how much our exception is)? props to Ferry for turning nothing into something. impressive.
  17. so my good friend & 'Squawk user 'ATLscrublove' sent me this video of Hawks players and I thought it was so hilarious that I had to share. hope you guys enjoy haha.
  18. With the departure of Duck and Joe Johnson the 'core four' era is officially over. Looking back this core has had its ups and downs over the years but for all the bashing and failed expectations this group made the Hawks' relevant again. With that being said which of these teams was your favorite over the past few years?Personally, I think the 10'-11' team was the best. With Jamal being 6th man of the year, Zaza having a great year and Teague posing mismatches in the playoffs they were very fun to watch. We beat Orlando (who swept us last year) and had a legit shot at beating Chicago. Sadly, things didn't work but that season was the peak for this core.
  19. tell scrublove to make a mixtape lol
  20. yeah I saw that on hoopshype earlier today, I really don't see anything big from it. honestly I really don't know anything about him.
  21. fitting? but seriously, he never spoke badly (at least publicly) about this organization and like you said he was a class act....although he was a BUST! I wish him the best in Utah...hopefully he will fit in better over there.
  22. with the exception of a few, Ferry has begun getting players with average-high BBIQ through the draft/free agency. That should change the dynamic of our team alot.
  23. IMO Flip Murray cause in my eyes he was the first semi-decent scorer we had coming off the bench with the 'core four'. My favorite overall trade/signing was getting Jamal from Golden State for practically a bag of spicy doritos.
  24. if your like me and get some info off youtube here are some highlight videos of him: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gj8IXhxnK8 http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=z85vHk5cc98 http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3455/anthony-randolph Pros: Age is 22 Insane finisher on fastbreak averaged 11 points per game in 09'-10' & 10'-11' seasons (with Minnesota) average to very good free throw average appears to do best when give 20+ minutes a game would fit nicely with our running game and drews' motion offense. Cons: very little known about defensive game here is the draft info on him: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Anthony-Randolph-1069/ honestly, I wouldn't like him as a starter but a very good backup with solid playing time is ok with me. Ferry and Drew are taking a shot on him so hopefully he improves his defensive game. The guy is only 22 so he has plenty of time to get better. I believe we can get him on a small contract with the promise of more playing time and an increased role.
