  1. we might as well give JChill the award for just showing up...lol
  2. wow I did not know he shot 43% from three last year, that's really good.
  3. yeah I mean if we can get someone better for practically free then i'm all for it but so far he is the best option available. It works for us cause we get a backup SF who is an excellent 3pt shooter, an average bench player (better than Etan Thomas and Eric"Scrubadubdub" Dampier), and an another expiring contract that we can trade for later. Chicago wants to rebuild for 2013 since Rose is out for several more months so its a win-win for both teams. The only reason why Chicago wanted to trade him to Portland or Minnesota first was due to the fact that they probably could've gotten something in return.
  4. I'm looking forward to seeing Jenkins the most. We all know he has a great jump shot but how will his other skills translate into the NBA? I also wanna see how Pepsi has progressed or regressed since last season.
  5. I agree with you 100%, Ferry must've done some advanced scouting on this guy back with the Spurs. The Mavs and Spurs are known around the league for having good international scouts. I say we sign him to a summer league contract and see how he does but I wouldn't mind him as a bench warmer for now. Nothing can be worse than Eton Thomas.
  6. well Al was going against Lebum, Kobe, Durant, and Harden for starters so I give him some slack there. One thing that really stuck out to me while watching this game was how much freedom Horford was given with this team. I know he is their best player but to see him take the point and shoot some threes against the best team in the world was nice. Another thing I picked up on was Al's slashing to the rim and kicking out to open shooters. That's not the last time we will see him do that.
  7. what i'm really curious too see is how Smoove and Horford play together now that JJ and Duck are gone. That along with the play of Lou and Jenkins will determine the outcome of this team.
  8. So with the JJ trade exception we can practically get another productive shooter who can play Small Forward for basically free? (Since his salary is 5 million and the TE is 4.5 million) On top of that he is an expiring contract. Why not? We didn't do anything will the JChill TE. Pull the trigger Ferry!
  9. Just from what i'm reading on the guy it looks like teams (mostly us, the Spurs, and Mavs) see some NBA qualities in him. It's also interesting to note that the Spurs (Ferry's old team) is going after him as well. While I don't wanna give Ferry the benefit of a doubt on an international center with low rebounding, I think he would be a good pickup for our summer league team. Who knows, San Antonio gets good international players, why can't we?
  10. by the way, here is the spanish website discussing the Hawks' interest. if anybody can please translate i'd appreciate it. thanks. http://encestando.es...t=Google Reader
  11. went on hoopshype this morning and saw this tweet: the link in the quote goes to a spanish website but I found another site talking a little more about him. and yes, I know its talking about the Mavs interest but since the other site did mention the Hawks in it as well I figured it was relevant. http://bleacherrepor...el-hettsheimeir thoughts?
  12. So long Marvin, in all honesty I blamed you for the Hawks' playoff failures but I now realize that it all wasn't your fault....even though we could've gotten Chris Paul. Still, it wasn't your fault and even though you never played as good as Paul...you had your moments. I wish you, your family, and your career the best of luck in Utah. Keep doing your thing and I wish you the best of success....just not against my Hawks.Goodbye Duck!
  13. If you knew Atlanta fans close to half of them bandwagon other teams (LA/Miami/Boston) and no, i'm not talking about Hawk fans, just people in Atlanta in general. haha
  14. yeah but Tex played college ball at Tech so I get his point. and yes. he is HATED lol
  15. Robdawg

    It's time

Depends on what happens with D-12, it makes no sense to trade the guy who could possibly get us a superstar. Now, lets say Howard gets traded to LA...I say we trade Smoove then or at least explore the market for him......again.
  16. Well, the way I see it this is a good move for him. Obviously he wasn't gonna play here so might as well be a bigger name overseas. http://www.sportando.net/eng/europe/turkey/40688/anadolu-efes-istanbul-in-advanced-talks-with-jordan-farmar.html
  17. I'd say bring back Jamal. Yes, his defense is horrible but he can make the big shot and should fit into Drews' system easier without Joe. Plus it's obvious he wants to be a Hawk again.
  18. Thank Dol, with all the rumors currently circulating on homecourt I thought it would be a good idea to use this to quickly document our official moves. Personally, I believe that this should be pinned throughout the offseason so our new fans can see the changes we've done.By the way, I was gonna update the move we did today with Wilcox but I can't seem to edit my original post. I don't wanna sound like a noob but how can I edit it?
  19. Hello fellow 'squawkers, so i'm sure we all here can agree that the past several days have been one of the busiest/ most hectic periods for our beloved franchise in quite sometime. So to prevent a lot of confusion I believe that having a thread like this will streamline some of the moves we make and allow new/away members to catch up very quickly. So lets get started! GO HAWKS! [NOTE] : Mods/Dolfan I stay very busy so I might not have time to put up new moves. If you'd like you can add to the list. I just saw this as a way to streamline our moves for our offseason. Plus if you see any mistakes please correct them. [NOTE] : News is current as of July 3, 2012 [May 10, 2012] Atlanta 80, Boston 83 Game six, do or die for the Hawks. In a lockout-shortened season, 'the core' of Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Al Horford, Marvin Williams, and Zaza Pachulia once again make the playoffs as a 5th seed (but get home-court advantage due to a higher regular season record). Their opponent? the 4th seeded Boston Celtics led by vets Paul Peirce, Ray Allen, KG, and stud Rajon Rondo. After several missed opportunities throughout the series Boston once again shows just what veteran leadership means. Knocking us out in six. This leaves many fans wondering if we've seen the best this current roster has to offer? http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tqfQMyMvyY [June 25, 2012] Sund out, Ferry in After the Hawks playoff exit, news also came of then-current GM Rick Sund's contract expiration. During this time many assumed Sund would return until the Hawks made a move for Spurs VP of basketball operations Danny Ferry. After talks, Ferry agreed to a six-year contract with Atlanta. In the month or so after his hire Ferry and Sund will have a transition period sharing views on what they believe is best for the team. http://www.nba.com/h...s-atlanta-hawks http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdUWXh5jryI [June 28, 2012] NBA Draft The Hawks had two picks a first round (23rd overall) and a second round (43rd overall) With their first selection the Hawks selected John Jenkins a SG. (called by many as the BEST PURE SHOOTER in the draft) http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9ftSBtSLP0 With their second pick the Hawks selected forward Mike Scott, one of the most underrated players in the draft. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5t_ZiNqvmI [July 2, 2012] The Day. Arguably the most hectic day in Hawks offseason history. Ferry stated in an interview that he wanted to bring a championship to Atlanta. Well, here we go. The Hawks extended a Qualifying Offer to F Ivan Johnson first. Johnson, who was a tough defender brought instant energy off the bench last season even if that got the best of him at times. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kZFMXLqru4 http://www.ajc.com/sports/moving-day-hawks-ship-1469341.html Then the Hawks did the impossible, trading six-time all-star Joe Johnson (and his contract) to the Brooklyn Nets for Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson, Jordan Williams, and a lottery-protected 1st round pick. All this in a effort to clear salary and re-focus their spending on free agents. The Hawks also traded long time player Marvin Williams to the Jazz for PG Devin Harris. Stunning many but lets just say, not upsetting them. Now, the Hawks have a TON of expiring contracts making the franchise dangerous in next seasons free agency. Many around the league are stating CP3, Howard, or other superstars are possible destinations for Atlanta within the next couple of years. IN A SINGLE DAY Ferry changed the leagues perception of the Atlanta Hawks.
  20. hahaha they will soon realize the mistake they made.
  21. Sadly, if Sund was still GM this might actually have happened.
  22. yeah but i've never seen the Hawks talking to free agents of this caliber. most of the time we're talking to scrubs like Eton Thomas, Dampier, and VladRad.
