  1. Basketball has always been my favorite sport. So I'd go with the Hawks.
  2. yeah, how dare them develope a "killer instinct" <grin> "We're starting to develop that killer instinct," center Al Horford said. "At Florida [where Horford won back-to-back national championships], I'd say we definitely had it. When we saw someone, we just went after them, and we're starting to develop that [attitude] as a team."
  3. I liked this one too. Especially since lack of speed was what led to our downfall for so long after trading Mookie Blaylock and Steve Smith looking to get younger and faster. "They're one of the fastest teams in the league at every position," said Utah forward Carlos Boozer, limited to six points and six rebounds. "They showed that tonight."
  4. I haven't felt this optimistic since the 80s under Fratello when we won 58? games. Go Hawks!!
  5. Pulled this from an AJC article on the game: The Hawks lead 80-63 in the series, including 51-20 at home against New Jersey. Had no idea we had such a lead in this series.
  6. Nice to see them playing so well on the road. Woody's goal of 50% or better on the road for the year is looking more and more likely.
  7. I would have just liked to have seen what Siler could do against Howard in the 2nd half of the Orlando game when no one else we had, had a prayer of stopping him.
  8. That should keep teams off balance. Joe isos involves Joe driving the lane against 4 or 5 guys and shooting off balance from 8 feet. Crawford isos involves him seeing a bunch of guys in the lane and pulling up and flinging it over them from 20 feet out. Imagine the nightmare of teams having to defend against two radically different isos!! <grin>
  9. I guess I'm going from past experience that we won't fire him as long as he's winning at that level. Never seen the Hawks fire someone winning 50 plus games until they start declining to wins in the 30s. Can't remember Hubie's last record. He might have gotten fired in the low 40s.
  10. I agree that Woodson is the wrong coach for this team. But the players we have will ensure that each year the wins total will go up. Thus we can never justify firing Woody. Maybe they could at least convince him to hire an offense consultant??
  11. Oh yeah, and I'm not sure we can ever get crack the top three in the east with Marvin Williams as a starter. Someone who comes to play about 4-6 games a year. He steps up and says give me the ball when we're down by 14 with 1:26 to play. The rest of the game he was hiding saying "Don't pass me the ball!"
  12. It all came down to what Kenny Smith talked about at halftime. In the first half, he was like, who is this team? It ain't the Hawks. They were sharply passing the ball around the court and taking the open shots. In the second half, no one was moving with out the ball and they all stood around and watched Joe go 1 on 4.
  13. We're starting to get that confidence we had last year when we started 6-0, beat Orlando soundly and almost beat Boston at Boston. Then the injuries started. If we stay healthy and the Hawks start getting that we can beat anybody anywhere attitude again, this could be a really special season.
  14. I just look for us to make the progress that Woody asks for. Let's prove we can be .500 or better on the road for the entire season. That will be a major step forward, but probably will still have us a few games behind Orlando for the division and keep us at the 4 seed.
  15. Down to 16...how many will they carry into the season? Hope Siler sticks.
  16. I learned the "experts" would neve praise the Hawks when we started 11-0 in 1997. All they did was trash us and talk about how it wouldn't last. Not one bit of credit for putting an 11 game winning streak together to start the season.
  17. It's a fact of life, the media will always diss the Hawks. Imn 1997 when we opened 11-0, the national media couldn't write one good thing about us or our great opening. Just pronouncements that it wouldn't last. Didn't expect them to proclaim we would go 82-0, but come on, give it up for 11-0. Geesh.
  18. I'm jumping on the Siler bandwagon. Sign him now!
