  1. This is borderline retarded. The only reason it's not retarded is because that would be an insult to retards. This entire off season has been a disaster. One idiotic move behind another. Dump Joe Johnson, take whatever money you would save by doing so, and buy a clue! This is as bad as it gets for Hawks fans.
  2. Childress does not want to play with Joe Johnson.
  3. I wasn't talking about his ability while he was sitting on the bench. I was talking about his ability while he was in the game. Ugly jump shot. Too many times I saw him drive to the basket and not have a clue about what to do once he got there. A couple of times I saw hit the bottom of the rim on an attempted layup. I'm not a scout but maybe these are the things you all are seeing and these "deficiencies" (IMO) are a sure sign of greatness to come. I don't know.
  4. I guess there is just something about "homerism" that isn't in me. I want the 2010-11 Atlanta Hawks to go 82-0 and sweep their way to a title just like everyone else that is a Hawks fan does. With that said, Jeff Teague, IMO, is not an NBA player and certainly is not a starting PG in this league. I have seen absolutely ZERO from Teague that leads me to believe he is NBA quality. Now I do not dislike Teague or his demeanor the way I do Joe Johnson. I see Teague full of excitement on the court and when he is cheering on teammates from the bench. I see hustle and heart from the kid. Unfortunately I also see a kid out there doing his best but his best just isn't any good. I honestly hope Teague proves me wrong. I hope he shows out in the Summer League and greatly improves his game. However it amazes me to see those wanting him in the starting lineup just because he's a young PG that plays for the Hawks.
  5. I like the idea of letting Teague loose as well. Maybe he'll get lost and we never find him. Otherwise, letting him be anything other than a Tonya Harding with a baton going to Dwight Howard's knees would be a mistake.
  6. Sure lets trade the best player on the team just after giving the 3rd or 4th best player a max deal. Makes a lot of sense to me.
  7. Well he does have to sign before there can be a sign and trade right? But no one wants that contract.
  8. Shaq would love to play with Joe Johnson so I expect him to sign with Atlanta any day now.
  9. So Joe's agent was acting as if Joe has magical powers to ease the pain of the contract? In reality Joe is not a player other players are eager to play with? No one has been mentioned as banging on the Hawks door wanting to play in Atlanta.
  10. I just thought Joe was gonna recruit players to Atlanta. This was announced shortly after his agent announced he was signing the outrageous contract. I did not realize they were talking about players that would have come to Atlanta anyway.
  11. You are right and thanks for clearing that up for me. I knew they couldn't sign but did not know the team couldn't discuss it.
  12. I'd like to know why the Hawks are not confirming that JJ has even been offered a contract. Are they that embarrassed by it? Is it not so? Is this just JJ's camp attempting to justify a 5 year max from another team? Where are the hawks?? There hasn't been ONE single confirmation from the team that a deal is in place. Now I'm not saying that a deal isn't already in place. I'm simply saying that the Hawks will not comment on it and they certainly haven't confirmed it.
  13. I think it's safe to say that the Hawks have not announced that they have agreed to a contract with Joe Johnson.
  14. Lots of smartasses but where's the link?
  15. I will not believe the Hawks organization is this stupid until I see it. Link please?
  16. What do you mean? We don't even know if the Hawks have really offered him a contract. If so, he hasn't accepted. If he accepts, how do we know he will not be traded?
  17. I think we will be exempt from paying the luxury tax because having Joke Johnson on the team especially while paying him 119 million is no luxury. We'll most likely benefit from "the laughing stock of the league" tax. That is every other team will send us a card offering their condolences with a 5.00 check enclosed.
  18. Are the Hawks seriously planning on paying Johnson 119 million dollars? Do they really believe he is the type of player that not only deserves that type of contract but the type that can take you to the next level? Are they really going to gamble the future on a 20 ppg player with no leadership, no killer instinct, and one that goes missing in the playoffs? Signing JJ to a 6 year max contract is so idiotic IMO that it's really very hard for me to understand. The question is, is this what the Hawks REALLY want? How can they? What do they believe is gonna happen? What, to them, makes Johnson worth the money and the risk? What am I missing? There has to be something. Is a S&T in the works? Is that what this is all about? If so, that's great, but why would another team want that contract? In the NBA, another team would have to take on Johnson's contract if he were traded right? I'll admit I'm not on par with the NBA cap rules. :help wanted3:
  19. How can Joe Johnson get people here when...... Lebron can't get anyone to Cleveland??? By using his personality.
  20. I haven't read any confirmation from the Hawks that they have offered him anything.
  21. Nah, didn't find it there but thanks anyway.
  22. I'm just wondering as I do not recall reading that anyone from the Hawks organization has confirmed that we have a max deal on the table for JJ. Is this all just rumor and speculation? Could it be that we have indeed offered a contract to JJ but it's not a 6 year contract? What exactly is going on as far as "straight from the horse's mouth"? Have the Hawks said anything? If so will you provide a link? Thanks in advance.
