  1. Being born and raised in Atlanta I can speak on the lack of hawks love for at least my generation. I don't know when or why it started but I remember being made fun of as a kid for rooting for the Hawks. Now, I was born in '87 and during my lifetime the hawks has been relatively good. In the 90's we were playoff fixtures but like everybody else Jordan happened to us. With the Pacman logo hawks they could never get over the hump and beat Boston. I personally been a hawks fan my whole life and have a few friends my age who has as well and we did not grow up in households that pulled heavily for sport teams here mainly because our parents had to worry about life too much. If you look at the true demographics of Atlanta up till just recently it has been a predominantly black low income city. Now combine that with a whole lot of transplants you get nights like the bulls game. I myself did not go to a hawks game until I was in the 11th grade because the school gave out free vouchers and I caught a ride there. If my mom had money I would have attended much more. Even now due to financial reasons I can't go to games like I would want to, and it sucks. I personally try to go to games where it's not against a more popular team simply because I may get into a fight with someone. I almost did some years back with one guy who was rooting for Phoenix who was sitting next to me. I yelled at him and told him to shut up! He never said another word for the rest of the game either.
  2. I do! He should be doing that on his off nights.
  3. This is our first season with this roster from top to bottom and we have yet to have all our pieces available. This team when complete has the best balance is pretty deep with talent and experience. I believe that if we were healthy we would easily be third seed in the east.
  4. Because we have yet to have had full use of our roster and still manage to be a couple games out of third place....
  5. Josh had 33points 13 rebounds 7 assists 1 steal and 2 blocks I was pretty close...
  6. Josh gets 32 points 12 rebounds 5 assists 4 steals and 3 blocks. Our #1 road defense only give up 88 points and we win 93-88.
  7. Actually it is....I mean think about it, if Josh left no one would come to games. Unless you got someone equally or more exciting back but I doubt that happen. I hope we just trade Joe away for someone and a pick and keep it moving. I would really prefer Monta over Joe right about now. That would boost or attendance up simply because Joe is gone! Do not underestimate how many people hate Joe and doesn't follow the Hawks simply because of that notoriously horrible signing.
  8. I don't think Jeff is in being put in the best situation to succeed. I mean his skill set is attacking the basket and with Zaza and Josh on the floor with no Al there is no space in the paint. When Al was here Jeff had more room off the screen to the basket because of Horfs threat of making the 15 foot jumper. Zaza and Josh are no threat and ZaZa have brick for hands so he drops any pass that is given to him. Josh for some dumb reason never sets a screen even though he may be our best finisher on the team. I think if Drew just let him play his game Jeff can be pretty good for us. I mean every time Jeff plays great its because we have no one to replace him with and that can not be a coincidence. Look at Lin in New York, because he is in a open system free to make mistakes he is flourishing. Imagine if Jeff was allowed to work through his mistakes like Lin who has been averaging 6-7 turnovers a game. Drew/Woody would have benched lin in a heart beat after 1 turnover thus ruining his confidence. If I was Jeff this past game would have pissed me off after I witness the game be lost in the 1st quarter b/c Kirk has 5 straight turnovers and doesn't get pulled but when Jeff has 1 he is benched for a half. Drew just like woody is shooting himself in the foot. Oh and another observation of Jeff is that when he drives sometimes he closes his eyes. This may be the reason why he doesn't finish as mush as he should around the basket. I myself had that problem before when I used to play ball. Every time I drove and went up for a dunk I would miss until my coach told me that I keep closing my eyes when I go up. Yeah I know it sound stupid but its something that I had to stop and now when I go to dunk I finish.
  9. http://blogs.ajc.com/jeff-schultz-blog/2012/02/21/report-marvin-williams-wants-out-ok-whats-the-joke/ I hope Rick Sund grant him his wish and get someone who will try and contribute no matter how many plays are called for him. Kirk and Marvin for a legit center ASAP!
  10. I just hope he represents us well...at least he'll score more than he has in his 5 other all-star appearances.
  11. Do you think he have a shot at winning? Or, will he just embarrass us like he does every year with a bad showing in the all-star game and combine it with a sad 1st round exit?
  12. This game should have been a win or a nail biter at least if not for all the missed layups. We actually came out with energy and was pretty balanced with our shot selection from the field. Those missed opportunities was really deflating and led to some key Laker buckets. Still can make this trip into a great one though.
  13. I doubt a core player is moved with this current ownership....so i vote the team will be sold first. Mainly because that is something they already tried to do.
  14. I will not be surprised if we win tonight. Actually, I think we win tonight simply because that's how crazy inconsistent this team is.
  15. Josh did a great job in Orlando playing like he should be an all star but when he gets his chance on nat'l tv to show he should've been one he lays a huge egg. He pretty much proved all the coaches right for hating on him. Joe...smh...that is all about him.
  16. Great article by Mark Bradely and the Hawks http://blogs.ajc.com/mark-bradley-blog/2012/02/12/the-heat-showed-up-the-hawks-and-the-fans-left-early/?cxntfid=blogs_mark_bradley_blog ^About
  17. I wonder if woody did some negative lobbying against Josh...we all know their relationship wasn't the best of coach-player relationships. I kinda agree with him though but he is not making things any better by speaking out in public about it. He needs to play his game and beat every other team in the East come playoff time. He has and had everyone on his side about him getting snubbed and he needs to just be quiet and let them do the coach bashing for him.
  18. Losing by twenty at some point is about lack of effort, but I do agree about the mismatches though but only with Memphis. Our inability to move the ball on offense and protect the ball against Phili, San Antonio and Phoenix we would've won or loss in a nail biter .
  19. These two wins also shows when we lose it is not a matter of lack of talent but simply effort and that is what drives me crazy! Imagine if we gave effort every game like Chicago, Phili, Indy, Memphis, or any other hustle teams.....WE'LL BE FREAKIN 1ST IN THE WHOLE LEAGUE!!!
  20. Man I hate ESPN!!! Magic in Overtime was the name of the highlight package of the game we won. Looking at that title one would assume the Magic won. I know i'm beating a dead horse with bringing this up but geez can we get some kind of recognition. I remember when we beat Portland on ESPN earlier this season and they didn't even show the highlights from the game. How are we suppose to gain a national fan base when according to ESPN and other birdbrain analyst we're like 12th in the east. On another note Lin is balling, Only bad thing is now New York is about to be all over the place when they already were when they was losing every night and they are still in 11th place! This why folks like myself born and raised in "da A" don't care much about the North. (Coincidentally my wife is from New York) Sorry for the rant...just wanted to get it off my chest to like minds.
  21. Drew said he's pushing 300ibs and not in shape. Still better than nothing though,,,
  22. I say we sign him. We have no other options right now and I'm pretty sure he give us the same production twin gives if not better. Never know we may stumble over another player who gives very productive minutes like Ivan. I must admit I don't like the work ethic questions especially on this team.
  23. http://blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2012/02/05/atlanta-hawks-good-fit-for-fesenko/?cxntfid=blogs_hawks We desperately need a big, what do you guys think about giving Fesenko a look?

    It's Time

3-8 against .500 and above teams and 1-4 against them without Al. That says it all...
