  1. Well to be honest, at this point Josh Smith and Joe Johnson are the only Hawks that actually enter the season showing that they've worked on their game during the off-season. Josh Smith works much harder, when you take in account of how much he's expanded his game since becoming a Hawk. Its the other players like Za Za, Marvin, and Horford whom come into camp saying the same thing: "I got a couple reps in during the summer." Then get on the court and look like the same person from last season. Hawks fans are stupid by wishing ASG get rid of a hardworking student of the game like Josh. The kid just turned 26yrs old!!!! He works on a part of his game every off-season. So what if he tries a little harder when we're losing by jacking shots up. HE WANTS TO WIN!! That's the sign of a true competitor and leader. Hell, Josh makes Horford look like a stud on defense. He can absolutely swing the moment of a game in an instant. Now tell me who's more valuable than Josh??
  2. Do not wish Acie Law here!!!! Lol!! The guy was horrible for us after we drafted him. Rather seen Dan "the hair" Dickau in a Hawks uniform.
  3. I'm not sure Billups would come here at all. He will more than likely weasel his way onto the Miami roster this year. Same for Baron Davis. Realistically, no one wants to come here and earn a championship. Everyone wants to free ride New York and Miami to get a ring. Definitely wouldn't put my marbles on either one of these guys. There's more room on this wagon my man! Lol! The kid is pretty good, I just think he was overshadowed in a guard heavy draft.
  4. I wouldn't plug him at the #2 Pg spot but I will ensure that he will have good minutes in the future. The kid is a raw talent that could become a good option for us in the future. There's no veteran PGs available that we can afford to bring into camp. Now, if you see a viable option please share it with me..? As a basketball player myself, his size and overall progression looks promising.
  5. Guys I think we may have a diamond in the rough in invitee Donald Sloan. He's a 6'3 point guard with a good package of scoring, rebounding, and assists. His averages in the NBDL were pretty solid considering the minutes that he played. National Basketball Development League 2010-2011 Statistics: MPG: 27.7 GP: 49 GS: 33 PPG: 10.7 FG%: 48.3% FT%: 72.2 APG: 4.4 RPG: 3.4 TO: 1.63 National Basketball Development League 2011-2012 Statistics: MPG: 40.6 GP: 5 GS: 5 PPG: 24.8 FG%: 49.5% FT%: 82.1 APG: 8.4 RPG: 5.2 TO: 4.0 EFF: +25.20 As you can see, the kid has shown great progression throughout his tenure in the National Basketball Development League. And oh yeah, he was #2 in scoring and tied at #2 in assists in the Development League. This may translate well for our organization because it shows that the kid has eagerness to learn and improve his game. The kid pretty much improved every stat line from his 2010-2011 season. Larry Drew thinks very highly of the kid and I can understand why. Good pickup for the Hawks!!
  6. I'm not mad at him taking more money, who wouldn't take it. I just wish he would've at least been more outspoken about staying here. I follow him on twitter and he talks a lot about still wanting a starting job. Its just annoying to see all of these players jumping on the Bulls, Lakers, Heat, and Knicks bandwagon! You don't have to stack a team to win championships. It comes a time when you have to trust and stay where you're wanted. I know about Wilson Chandlers major boo boo over in China. That's why I suggested for the Hawks to pursue him before they make there run in the playoffs. He and J.R Smith should be available sometime in March or April.
  7. I'm excited to see some of this during the season!! It wasn't the move everyone wanted but, its the best move to make with our current situation. I'm truly disappointed that Jamal chased the money instead of showing us that he's committed to bringing a championship to a city that gave him a chance. Especially, after his tough ending years with the Bulls and Warriors. Now, let's get a sign and trade done so we can focus on the start of the upcoming season. I wish Vince would join his cousin in Atlanta. That would have the entire league in an uproar. I wonder what type of contract he's looking for right now?? I would love to see us make a run at Wilson Chandler before the playoffs. That would be a nice rotation to head into the post season. I definitely could see us winning the Eastern Conference with that addition.
  8. You must have read my mind because I was thinking the same thing. I think he can still give big numbers on offense even though he's aged and has been slowed by knee injuries. I tell you what, another guy that I was thinking about us signing is his cousin T-MAC. Imagine that reunion in a Hawks uniform!! I would love to see that happen on one year rentals. Starters: Teague Joe Vince Smoove Horford Bench: Hinrich T-MAC Marvin Benson ZaZa Now thats a sick rotation right there! Whew!!
  9. Pretty interesting posts I see from you guys.. My opinion would be to re-sign Jamal Crawford since Sund made the dumb mistake of trading his replacement ----> #55! I think Sund took a gamble last season by not making Jamal an offer so it could cost us dearly during this FA period. After considering Sunds comments after the 'trade debacle,' I thinh he has every intention to resign Jamal but I fear his poker hand has been rivered.
  10. I would like to begin my first post of the season with a big "HELLO" to the squawker family!! Now back to business.. As we all are aware, the NBA free agency starts on Dec. 9, 2011. If you were the Atlanta Spirit Group.. *cough..cough.. nevermind! If you were an owner of the Hawks who would you go after in this years free agency? Please include why you would select the player.. Here's the list of 2011 NBA Free Agents: C Tyson Chandler (Mavericks) C Marc Gasol (Grizzlies) C Nene (Nuggets) F David West (Hornets) G/F Wilson Chandler (Nuggets) F Chuck Hayes (Rockets) F Tayshaun Prince (Pistons) G Jason Richardson (Magic) G Jamal Crawford (Hawks) G J.J. Barea (Mavericks) F Caron Butler (Mavericks) G DeShawn Stevenson (Mavericks) G Aaron Brooks* (Phoenix Suns) G/F Vince Carter (Suns) F Grant Hill (Suns) F/G Josh Howard (Washington Wizards) G Tracy McGrady (Pistons) G Rodney Stuckey* (Pistons) G Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks) F Shane Battier (Grizzlies) F Kris Humphries (New Jersey Nets) F Josh McRoberts (Indiana Pacers); C Samuel Dalembert (Sacramento Kings) G Shannon Brown (Lakers) G Arron Afflalo (Nuggets) F Carl Landry (Hornets) F Chase Budinger (Rockets) F Glen Davis (Celtics) F/G J.R. Smith (Signed Non Opt-out Contract in China) F Kenyon Martin (Signed Non Opt-out Contract in China) This should be the correct list of free agents but let me know if I missing anyone that's noteworthy. I will be back to put together my free agent pick(s). Can someone help me erase these two duplicates.. Thanks!

  12. I think I will go ahead and get my "Amnesty Marvin 2011" shirt lol.. I would be highly upset if we let Crawford walk and keep this good for nothing slop.
  13. Sounds Pape's making good strides in development. I agree with coachx, we need to apply the amnesty clause to Marvin williams and divide his minutes with Damien and Pape...
  14. I'm with AHF on letting Teague start and having Hinrich come off the bench. I think Hinrich will have more a spot-up shooting role this year. But the big question is, what do we do with Marvin? The guy can't shoot worth a lick anymore and he's becoming more and more passive as a slasher. Call me crazy but I would extend the veteran minimum to Allen Iverson. He's looking and sounding hungrier each day. Just saying... Can't go wrong with at least trying to see if he has more in the tank. Plus, it would boost ticket sales in Phillips.
  15. I understand that its Teagues time to step up and show us what he did in the playoffs. But, who will take over the offensive role from the bench? Remember, that was the reason why we drafted "he who shall remain nameless." I'm not willing to put all of my eggs in the Marvin Williams basket. I just think Jamal is still valuable to this team. LeBron James tweeted about wanting him to joing the Miami Heat. If that happens, we may be in a lot of trouble.
  16. For the past couple days I've been following him on twitter and it seems as though he wants a starting role again. Plus, Joe Johnson's contract has pretty much made our ability to re-sign him even more difficult. I would be extremely pissed if he signed with Miami or New York. But it seems he will not return to Phillips Arena when the season starts back up. Why couldn't we have traded Marvin Williams a couple years ago?? ARGHHHH!! I guess I have to say goodbye to "Mr 3 + 1"
  17. I definitely miss "he who's name shall not be mentioned" because I can see him doing big things in the future. But, if we let Sergiy go without putting him at the end of our bench I will be thoroughly disappointed. The kids has a really good stroke and has added a little more size to his frame. I can possibly see his stroke being substantially better than Korvers. You're right, he is the Ukranian version of Ray Allen..
  18. I'm starting to get sick of Larry Drew and Sund saying that he's not physically ready yet!! What size do you really need to be an affective shooting specialist? Korver isn't a physical specimen, neither Eddie House.. The point is Gladyr can shoot the nylon out of the basketball net so why isn't he been given a chance. I can see the Hawks letting this guy slip through there fingers in a year or so. Here's a video of him competing in the 2010 ACB Three Point Shootout: What do you all think?? Drew says that he wants knock down shooters and Sergiy definately looks like one.
  19. I cant believe you compared this guy to Dion Glover. His game has no similarities to Glover by any means. I'm very disappointed in that comment. lol
  20. More Info on Jeremy Hazell.. 2009-2010 Highlights I think this guy can become a diamond in the rough for our team. It looks as though we have second try at a shooting guard with scoring potential that reminds us of "he who's name shall not be mentioned". Rick Sund might have a chance to redeem himself from last years trade debacle when he shipped "he who's name shall not be mentioned" and the 2011 1st Rd pick to Washington for Kirk Hinrich. What do you guys I think?
  21. "The stimulus bill paid for Marvin's contract."

  22. I vote for Horford to walk the plank!! lol But in all seriousness, Josh Smith has taken over plenty of games offensively and defensively. And for those who say he couldn't must've been watching "Walker Texas Ranger" at 7:30pm.
  23. Going off how this guy treated the Padres when he had them, I'm all for ASG not selling. I wonder if they could add him as an owner in the group..? Well, it depends on how big of a ego Moore has developed. I seriously doubt that he would join the ASG but its definately worth seeking.
  24. The reason we don't look at those guys as a #1 is because they're streaky and barely #2's on their respective teams.
  25. Jeff Schultz is a contradicting a-hole that always seems to point the finger in hard times. He usually makes articles just to sell newspapers. Where's the get rid of Marvin Williams article? Or the Al Horford needs to step up big time like the allstar he is article? Yep, you will never see it come from Schulltz. Think about how he bashed Matt Ryan after we lost in the playoffs last year. No wonder he lost his assignment as a Hawks beat writer. The guy only cares about his career and the paper. Be consistent Schultz for crying out loud!
