  1. Nash is old and isn't worth trading for if you ask me. At 38 years of age, he has about 1.5 seasons left in the tank. I wouldn't take that chance.
  2. So Squawkers, we all see our team struggling against the bottom teams in the league and the much stronger teams in the league. Its very frustrating from the fans to see lackadasical effort, defensive mistakes, missed FREEthrows, turnovers, and bad coaching judgment. Its becoming a more and more often scene with Drew and his staffs' ineffectiveness when preparing for opponents this season (except Orlando). The same looks from the sidelines: Drews blank stare with folded arms, Lester Conners mean-mug with his fist under his chin, Nick Van Exels headshake, and Kenny Gattisons horrible post halftime interview. But who do we blame for the inconsistent play? Joe, Josh, Teague, Marvin? How about Drew and his staff?? Yes! But, why should we blame the coaching staff? Its simple! Our staff refuses to make lineup changes when they're needed. Look at all of the top-tier teams and how they operate. It doesn't matter how good you are or how long you've been in this league, the top teams coaches bench players that aren't performing. Rivers, Thibodeu, Popavich, Carlisle, etc. have all benched important players on their respective teams due to not performing. My big gripe with Larry Drew and the coaching staff is their panicked and hurried insertion of Kirk Hinrich into the lineup. Why, you ask? Its not rocket science! We were 13-5 before Kirk Hinrich was reacclimated into the lineup on Jan. 25th against San Antonio. We lost that game by 22pts!!! What could possibly be the reason for the loss? Bonner went absolutely bonkers on us, shooting 5-7 from the 3pt strike. Tim Duncan grabbed 11 boards and Tiago Splitter made Zaza look like -- Zaza. So, I refuse to blame this loss on the premature insertion of Kirk Hinrich. BUT!!!! Since the return of Hinrich we've gone 5-6! And in terms of basketball, that's more of a chemistry problem. So what is Kirk really doing out there on the court this season? MPG: 18.5 PPG: 5.3 <--------- Absolutely crazy when considering his minutes. STL: 0.5 AST: 2.7 <---- Not bad given his minutes Rebs: 1.5 FG: 38% <------- Alarming when you consider what we're asking from him off the bench FT: 63% <-------- Waaaay lower than his career average. 3PT: 28% <--------- Could it contribute to his shoulder injury? TO: 1.3 Player Efficiency Rating: 8.6 Win Share Per 48 Minutes(WS/48): .022 <------- League average is at .100 fellas Defensive Win Share: 0.2 Ofeensive Win Share: -0.1 These are Hinrich's numbers according to the substitution combinations (via 82games.com): 5-Man Units Top Five-Man Floor Units http://www.82games.com/1112/11ATL3.HTM Now, lets look at his statistics and effectiveness when he's either at the PG or SG position... Production by Position Minutes Net Pts Off Def Net48 W L Win% PG: 12% -27 90.4 97.3 -6.9 4 6 40% SG: 1% +19 116 72.2 43.8 5 1 83% Min represents the percentage of the team's total minutes the player was at that position. W and L are not adjusted in this instance by quality of opponent while at that position in a game. The Net48 number shows the average +/- net points over a full game. Like I've said for a long time on this board, Hinrich should play a bulk of his minutes at the SG position while Pargo plays PG. He's a much better player when he plays off-the-ball. I don't understand why Drew continues to ignore Hinrichs weaknesses and strengths. I'm totally lost.. smh Marvins production has fallen off for the past two seasons and its beginning to erk me when Drew keeps starting him every game. I'm not going to waste much time on Marvin because we all know how ineefective he is at the rim. And we know how streaky he can be away from the rim. According to basketball-reference.com, Marvins Win-shares are similar to Loy Vaught. Who's Loy Vaught you ask? He was a 1st rd bust selected by the LA Clippers (13th overall) in the 1990 NBA Draft. History has a habit of repeating itself eh? Marvins Numbers.... MPG: 24.3 PPG: 9.8 FG: 42% 3PT: 44% FT: 75% Reb: 5.5 Ast: 1.2 Lets take a look at his shot selection... A telling sign that Marvins becoming less aggressive by not driving and creating his shots. His conservative attitue has hurt his numbers greatly. Of his 33% of attempted shots inside, Marvin has only managed to make 49%. With 48% of those shots being assisted, and 16% of those 33% attempts being blocked. He averages a disturbing 2.5pts inside the paint at 6'9!! Wtf??? I have nothing else to say about this guy. He lacks effort and it seems like he's more about getting by and becoming a scholar with his degree. The back surgery was a nother way for him to avoid amnesty and a possible early season trade. Marvin should be benched until his hunger to play in the NBA comes back again. Or if it ever comes back again. He seems too content with being a starter. In order for our team to want to win again, they have to see a will to win from the coaches. As a coach, you have to make your team believe that you're ready to make any changes in order to make your team successful. Drew has to bench Marvin and find out a better way to mesh Hinrich with the team to so that he can be more effective. He has to trust his bench when they're playing at an high level. Pargo should've never been thrown to the way-side as soon as Kirk arrived, given the exceptional job our bench was doing. Point guards are the life-blood of a teams chemistry, and Drew disturbed that flow by immediately throwing Hinrich in the lineup. Hinrich's a good player but under the circumstances he should've been gradually worked into the flow of the team. I think Drew should give Stackhouse more minutes at the SF spot since we're stuck with his contract this season. Even though he's old, he can still knock down those jumpers from the corners. I've also noticed that he plays good defense so why not give him a couple minutes. Around 6 minutes a game should be appropriate to see if he can provide a spark from the bench. Drew has to trust Teague. I think Kirks return has applied too much pressure on Teague. It seems as though Drew has maybe threatened Teagues starting position because he's looking very up-tight on the floor. This offense is at its highest when it works through Teagues aggressive play. Must I repeat, WE ARE NOT A HALFCOURT TEAM!! DREW WE CAN'T BE EFFECTIVE AT HALFCOURT WITH A SIZE DISADVANTAGE!! SEEMS LIKE COMMON SENSE TO ME, BUT DREW DOESN'T GET THE OBVIOUS. Please Drew, don't give up on Ivan Johnson. He's a rookie thats going to make rookie mistakes. He plays hard and wants to win. Don't bury him on the bench once he makes a mistake. Radmanovich needs to get more playing time. When he's confident, the three-ball is second nature to him. I've noticed in previous games when he's hot from the floor Drew benches him. Why? Seems like someone's stubborn. And can Drew please cuss-out Joe and Josh in the locker room. Geez! Gets some testicles between your legs! I mean the guy says nothing at all when guys play lackidasical on the court. Atleast Woody would chump the starters off when they're playing like girls. Drew needs to take up for his players and get a tech next game! Let's turn this season around!!! GO HAWKS!!!!
  3. Man yall lame as hell! How's he immature for voicing his opinion..? Last time i checked, he was grown a** man! Gtfoh! Sounds like a bunch of people that don't stick up for themselves. Lames!! Smh.. Excuse my Eastside etiquette..
  4. I agree, Horfords arrival did hold back Joshs development from a minutes and offensive play standpoint. Before ALs arrival to the team Josh pretty much did it all for us. He was forced play multiple roles based on his dominant athletics and freakish game changing ability. And yes, it has hurt him to this day because he still thinks he has to do those things. When Horford arrived, Josh didn't know how to adapt when it came to sharing those roles with him. I blame a ton on Woody and his minions. Now it seems as though he's comfortable filling those multiple responsibilities since Horford went out. It's playing back to what he's always been--- a blue collar player. Josh enjoys having those multiple roles. It's his DNA.
  5. That's complete bs! Especially when you've had players like Rasheed, Spreewell, and Marbury that have become allstars. Fans like you and Mobetta are the problem with our current fan base. You guys always try to rationalize the repeated hate our team gets around the league. The last time I checked, the Brady rule isn't in the NBA. Reputation is overrated in this league because good guys aren't winning games. You need players with attitude and heart to be successful. Continue sinking on your fisher price basketball goal and leave the observations to real fans of the game.
  6. Well, its time for our management to either 'put up' or 'shut up' this season. We all know our Hawks need help at the center position. Hell, we've known for the past 8yrs so there's a good chance Sund and ASG know...maybe?? Riiiight... They should be in the boiler room now as we speak.. Fussing, fighting, playing Yahtzee, figuring out who will recieve the bigger portion of the lucrative 'under the salary cap money' from the NBA at the end of the year. Maybe Gearon's playing phone tag with Sund. "Hello, its ASG and we want you to spend whatever you need to make us contenders!! HAHAHA! Just kidding, its me Rick! Guys he fell for it! We get you every time Rick!" But in actuality, I think we were waiting for the 10-day contract mark all along. Soooo!!!!! I compiled a wonderful list of possibilities for our half-season teases. drum roll... duh dah chiiiii!!!! #1 Brian Butch 6'11 240lbs PPG: 19.8 FT: 71% RPG: 12.5 3PT: 44% APG: 0.5 FG: 41% EFF: +24.25 BPG: 1.2 Brian Butch is a good shooter that can stretch the floor and provide more lanes for our guards to work. He's a scorer with a good mentality when it comes to rebounding. He lacks the ideal weight to challenge bigger post players but his length provides help. #2 Chris Daniels 7'0 265lbs PPG: 16.8 FT: 70% RPG: 8.6 3PT: 46% APG: 2.4 FG: 55% EFF: +20.21 BPG: 2.1 Chris Daniels was picked up and waived by the LA Lakers in December. He has good size and nice touch around the basket. Shows good vision under the post and gets teammates involved. Needs to play with more intensity but I think he should do well next to Zaza and Ivan. #3 Jeff Foote 7'0 265lbs PPG: 14.6 FT: 53% RPG: 8.5 FG: 55% APG: 1.0 BPG: 1.1 EFF: +15.67 Was picked for 2012 NBA D-League Allstar game. Played at Cornell University in college. I see him as a nice fundamentally sound center that can be molded at the NBA level. He has great size with the possibility to add about 5 more pounds to his frame. He has a good running hook and plays disciplined defense on the other end. Needs to work on his free throws but he's only played 4 games this year for the Development League. #4 Keith 'Kito' Benson 6'11 230lbs <---- Do we bring back Kito for a do-over?? PPG: 12.6 FT: 58% RPG: 7.2 FG: 54% APG: 0 BPG: 0.6 EFF: +12 We know this kids story and some of us on the Squawk felt like he was slighted for the service of an 'over the hill' vet in Stackhouse. Kito has a good touch around the basket and can shoot the 12 footer. His only quib is his small frame. Adding about 30 more pounds of muscle will give him the frame to compete in this league. #5 Will Foster 7'5 260lbs PPG: 5.7 FT: 43% RPG: 6.7 FG: 56% APG: 0.4 BPG: 2.9 <----- GOOD DEFENDER AND ACTIVE!! EFF: +10.67 This kid is looong!! He fights to gain position under the basket and goes up tough. He protects the basket and uses his size to pester his opponent. Very active hands around the basket. Could be a diamond in the rough if we give him a chance. #6 Kyroylo Fesenko 7'1 280lbs PPG: 2 FT: 40% RPG: 2 FG% 50% APG: 0.4 BPG: 0.4 EFF: +10.67 ----->FACE IT!! We all like Fesenko because he's a pitbull under the basket. He's dirty and mean when it comes to physicality. Just imagine the faces of coaches and players when he's paired with IVAN "the Merciless" Johnson.. Eww.. Just nasty! Ace bandages and ice to the left bench please.. Parental advisory on all 3D televisions. lol So.... What should we do with Stackhouse? Should we throw his AARP card into the garbage can the next time we go on a roadtrip and leave him there (Yesss!!)? Or should we put him next to Van Exel in a "Larry Drew suit"?? Yes.. yes.. I'm still trying to figure out where LD buys his suits.. Maybe Burial Magazine??? Lol. But seriously, what should we do with Stackhouse? Secondly, how do you guys feel about the other options I've listed here for possible 10-day contracts?? Personally, I really like Brian Butch, Will Foster, and Jeff Foote as my possible candidates. Fesenko should be signed for the rest of the year.
  7. Well did you see the bone headed play before by Kirk? He basically turned away from Telfair and let him sink a late second three. Kirk shoula been benched for that dumb/half-*ss effort. No one wants to play defense on the boards but Josh, whom played significant minutes at Center last night. He was frustrated just like you would'be been. I like Kirk, but since he's come back our chemistry has gone downhill. Drew worked him in too fast. We are not a halfcourt team Drew. Allow us to speed up the game and attack the basket. Pargo should come in at the point off the bench, and Kirk needs to play shooting guard. Why must I keep repeating myself..?
  8. Drew seems as though he's the cancer on the team. The last three games we've lost has come to the hands of his idiotic coaching. No one can make me understand and agree with him benching our two star players tonight. Now I see where his selfish *ss son gets his attitude from. He should be fired by daylight!
  9. Are you kidding me man?!! He's just playing okay?! You my man, have a crazy sense of observation. He's actually playing lights out if you ask 80% of this board. That was interesting......
  10. So we would have a rebounding problem by sliding Joe to the SF spot?? LOL! Well, we were already having rebound problems in the last couple games. I don't really care what combination we use for the second unit but Marvin should be matched with a 4 to use his speed and quickness. And we've always been a small team even when Al was playing so its not anything new. What are we going to do, play Zaza 37+ minutes a games at the 5 spot? No! That would be tragic. And to answer you're question of why i feel the way I do about LD.... He coaches good games against bad coaches but continuously gets out-coached against the better coaches. He's lazy with adjustments, and he continuously benches players that are having hot streaks I.e Willie Green, Marvin, even Vlad. I've watched too many games when he has sat hot players. Who does that?! Never saw any other coach do it except for Drew. Just my opinion through observation.
  11. Whoa!!! Pump your breaks my man!! What's the difference between kirk starting instead of coming off the bench. The reason why I proposed Marvin to come off the bench is to get him more offensive touches. Allow him to match up against PF so he can use his speed and handles as an advantage. What's wrong with that? Tell me what PF can guard Marvin off the dribble? Not many!! Using Marvin as a stretch 4 puts pressure on the defense because it forces his man out of the paint which allows McGrady the opportunity to post up and take advantage of smaller guards. And why should I explain my statement to you about Drew?! Who are you, his scalp massaging assistant.. Get a life man. Especially when you average a Wtf statement every 2.3 posts!
  12. Starters should be: Teague Kirk Joe Smoove Zaza 2nd unit should be: Pargo Green Tmac Marv/Vlad Ivan/Pachulia/Collins Allow the second unit to play through Marvin. Doubt Drew would do it because he's an self-absorbed a-hole.
  13. What?! LOL. Kirk isn't a point guard first of all. He struggled getting the ball over to halfcourt which hurt the flow of our offense. He atleast chewed up about 8 seconds before we got into our offensive plays. Kirk should play SG and Pargo should be put in as point guard to keep our pace fast and steady. And plus I think he can be more effective as an offensive option on the second team with TMAC. Kirk is a much better shooter with his feet set and shoulders facing the basket. Run him off picks and let him rain jumpers! That's how other coaches have used him in the past.
  14. Him with Ivan "the psycho" would bring a bigger competitive edge and attitude to our team. So I'm all for it. The only thing I'm worried about is the other contenders that are after him. And are we willing to go over the luxury tax..
  15. Guys there's no one to blame for Matt Bonners wide open threes but Larry Drew. An adjustment shoulda been made once Drew figured out Pops plan to allow Bonner to screen down then catch a double screen back out for a wide open three point shot. There's not a basketball player in the world that can run through double pick to contest a shot. Drews decision to make Josh help against Duncan on the backside left us at mercy of three point shooters. It was a gamble that shoulda been changed early in the game. Blame Drew for that loss.
  16. You're wrong! The media has more influence in building markets than any other communication stream. That's just how the worlds ran these days. Hell, its been like that for a long time. I bet you can't get people in China to name all the small market teams in the NBA. The common response would lead to the big market teams that recieve national and international exposure.
  17. They're actually LeBron and Kobe fans that want them to come play here. Pretty much bang wagon fans that don't understand basketball. Who in there right mind would tank a playoff team because one player gets hurt..?
  18. What am I reacting to my man? I just stated my opinion on how I felt and raised the question of whether anyone else felt that way. So what's wrong?
