  1. I have 3 #1 seeds in the Final Four: Kansas, Syracuse, and Duke. I have Kentucky losing to New Mexico. I have Kansas and Duke advancing to the national championship, and Kansas winning the whole thing. I'm on the Jayhawks bandwagon.
  2. I didn't get to watch Will Bynum much last season, but was he known for his passing and his leadership skills? I honestly thought re-signing Bibby was the best choice we had in the off-season. Bibby is probably our best floor leader on the floor and we definitely need someone who can lead the team on offense. I actually preferred signing Ramon Sessions over Mike Bibby this offseason, but from the looks of it....I think we made the right choice. Sessions isn't doing that great this season. But Mike Bibby is starting to play better and I really hope he keeps on improving his game as the season progresses. I can see us winning the title with Bibby running the point position.
  3. if it's not the Joe Smith one, it's probably Travis Porter's song: All The Way Turnt Up
  4. I don't think you got what gsuteke was saying..... You're not going to get anyone of value that would make Joe stay unless you trade Horford or Smoove.
  5. Most Atlanta Wins At All-Star Break: 34-13 1993-1994 (Finished 57-25) 33-18 2009-2010 (Finished ???) 32-23 1979-1980 (Finished 50-32) 2009-2010 Interesting Stats: The ATLANTA HAWKS Are..... 16-1 when hitting 50% or better from the floor. 12-1 when getting 10 or more steals. 12-3 when Jamal Crawford makes 3 or more from long distance. 19-6 when Jamal Crawford makes 50% or better from the field. 10-2 when Mo Evans plays 20 minutes or more. 13-2 when Marvin has 7 or more rebounds. 9-3 when Joe Johnson records 7 or more assists. 8-2 when Josh Smith scores 20 or more points. 6-1 when Smith makes 70% FGs or better.
  6. I don't think the main goal of this team is to go all the way to the Finals. Ideally, Hawks will want to go as far as possible. Realistically, this team is just trying to go as far as they can and improve from last season's showing. I'm honestly fine if Sund doesn't make a move before the trade deadline. I love the makeup of the team for the most part, and I don't think that any big sudden moves should be made. I think some Hawks fans are becoming impatient with the long-term plan the Hawks had, which is to draft young and talented players and develop them and build a championship team. Right now, the Hawks are doing a pretty good job as our team is made up of young players that have been developing in a good rate with a mix of solid veterans.
  7. As of today, the Hawks are 1.5 games back from the Magic and both teams have the same number of losses(18), but the Magic have played three more games than the Hawks. This is the record for both teams..... Atlanta Hawks: 33-18 Orlando Magic: 36-18 I've calculated these stats myself and found it pretty debatable on who will win the division. ORLANDO MAGIC Total Games Left: 28 Winning % of Teams: .492 West Conf Games: 12 Winning % of W. Teams: .527 East Conf Games: 16 Winning % of E. 8. The same thing could be argued here. How would you know JJ and CP3 would be side by side on the team if we did draft Paul? When we signed Joe, it seemed like he was going to be the one playing for us. Was signing Joe so he can be our point guard the reason we got him? Maybe. We don't know. We may never have had a Joe Johnson if Chris Paul was the one drafted and not Marvin.
  9. Kenny Smith probably can't shoot anymore. I like Atlanta's chances just because Smitty is our old Hawks player. Smitty still looks fit to play basketball, and he's not that old.
  10. The last couple of minutes was horrible. It seemed like the refs were trying to make sure the Thunder win the game. The whole game wasn't like that, but the refs definitely ruined our momentum in the 4th quarter.
  11. I enjoy the combo of Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith. Their personalities and the chemistry that they have is just fun to watch. They're pretty funny and enjoyable, but I could care less to know what their opinions about the Hawks are, especially Kenny Smith. Charles Barkley gives us praise at times, but there are times when he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about when complimenting us or criticizing us. Kenny Smith straight up hates the Hawks. With every conversation about the Hawks, I rarely hear him talk about something good. He's always criticizing us and going against us in every argument that involves the Hawks. Ernie Johnson is the smartest out of the 3, and without him....the show would be a dread to watch.
  12. I actually wasn't that excited last year as I am this year. If we weren't in Atlanta playing and playing on the road, I would hate to watch because every road game for us was horrible to watch. Also, it wasn't exciting to watch Josh Smith shoot jumper after jumper. This year, we've done so much better. Our players have matured, we are starting to win games on the road, and there isn't a game in the schedule that you can call a "sure loss". Every game we have this year, you can say the Hawks have a chance of winning or you can say Hawks are sure to win. Plus, Jamal Crawford adds a little bit more excitement than Flip. ;)
  13. @Rockets I think this is a win. We barely won the Rockets game here in Atlanta when we should have beaten them easily. Our guys just didn't seem to have that much energy that game and we kind of underestimated their talent as a team. I think if we actually played them and take them seriously, we should win this one. I don't think that we'll be making the same mistake of letting them even have the chance to win the game. @Spurs I hate to admit it, I think this is a loss. Tony Parker has killed the Hawks and Mike Bibby multiple times. Same goes for Manu Ginobili. Richard Jefferson will probably get the better game than Marvin. Tim Duncan is going to be a handle for Josh Smith. Greg Poppovich outcoaches Mike Woodson by a mile. And they're at home, what advantage do we have over them except for youth and athleticism? The thing about the Spurs is that they don't let the other team control the tempo, they make sure that we run a half court offense. vs.Celtics Give me a win. I think our team will be just as determined as the Celtics to win this one. We'll be looking for a sweep like what they did last year, and the Celtics will look to not get sweep by their so called "non-rivals". The advantage we have here is that we'll be at home on a Friday night. The arena is going to be full, and it's going to be loud. Our players do great feeding of off the energy from the crowd (particularly Josh Smith, Al Horford, and Zaza). @Orlando A loss for this one, sadly. I would hate to lose a big game after a big win, but I believe it's gonna happen. The Magic have the mental advantage over us by blowing us out the past few times we've faced them. Dwight Howard always kills us and Stan Van Gundy knows this. He'll probably run more plays for Dwight this game. @Thunder Give me a win. Our players will be looking for revenge on the disappointing loss we had against them. Plus, if we do lose to Orlando, I look for this team to bounce back and beat this team. If there is any blowout in any of the five games, I'll have to guess that this is the one. We match up with them pretty well, but I think that our guys will be hunting for blood this game.
  14. I'll take Al Horford any day over David Lee. I feel Al Horford has a higher ceiling than him, and he is just as good as him...if not...better. Do I think Al Horford deserves to go to the All-star game more? Yes. Do I think Al Horford will go to the All-star game over David Lee? No. I think the hope of Al Horford being an All-star is bleak. Judging by what the media (who I think have no idea what they're talking about), Al Horford will get the nod over David Lee. I have seen so many all-star rosters with David Lee's name on it and I've seen a lot of Al Horford-less allstar rosters.
  15. It's hard. We have a great record, but there are a lot of players that deserve to go. I really doubt that our team (or any team in the NBA) will have more than 2 allstars in the allstar team. But I do have to say that if there's any team that deserves 3, it's us. Shoe in: Joe Johnson, Rajon Rondo, and Gerald Wallace That leaves 4 spots left with about 8 players to consider. But when it comes down to it, I think these players will most likely not make it. Rashard Lewis isn't putting up that great of stats and his team has been underachieving. Danny Granger's injuries and his teams' record will probably be enough reason why he shouldn't go. Mo Williams just got injured today, so I doubt coaches will put him in. Most Likely Not: Rashard Lewis, Danny Granger, and Mo Williams I think it boils down to these 6 players for the last four spots. On The Bubble: Josh Smith, Al Horford, Stephen Jackson, Chris Bosh, Derrick Rose, David Lee, Paul Pierce. Chris Bosh is the most likely to go out of the bubble people. He has the stats, and his team is in the playoffs right now. Derrick Rose will probably make it just so the East will have 3 guards on the bench like they usually do. I think you have to give the nod to Josh Smith over Stephen Jackson and Paul Pierce just because he makes just a big of an impact as the two and Hawks have a better record. And I think it just boils down to Al Horford vs David Lee if we'll have 3 allstars on the allstar team. If I have to take a guess this is the East Roster for the Allstar Game. PG: Allen Iverson SG: Dwyane Wade SF: Lebron James PF: Kevin Garnett C: Dwight Howard Backup G: Joe Johnson Backup G: Rajon Rondo Backup G: Derrick Rose Backup F: Gerald Wallace Backup F: Josh Smith Backup C: David Lee
  16. Not surprised that Joe was the leader. The coaches of the NBA players probably focuses on stopping Joe everytime a team faces the Hawks. While Joe may seem inconsistent, he is still our best player and our most valuable player. I know it may not seem like it, but without Joe, we might be in the 5th seed behind Orlando and Charlotte....maybe even lower.
  17. Jamal Crawford and Mike Bibby are the only two players that has the mental toughness to take the Game Winning Shot with confidence. Joe is our best player, but I feel that he just isn't as confident as Jamal and Mike is during clutch situations. I'm definitely buying a Jamal Crawford jersey soon.
  18. The Josh Smith block on Perkins was the turning point of that game. Unbelievable play by Smoove and that made the crowd going which made the team get going. We have a Vince Carter-less Orlando Magic team tomorrow. Let's hope that the win tonight will give us momentum for the Orlando game. Great game and real exciting game tonight, but move on and win tomorrow.
  19. Joe is right and he speaked the truth. I really hope that the attendance improves as the season progresses. I don't want our attendance record/fan support in the regular season play a factor on JJ not re-signing with us this off-season.
  20. Al Horford. His winning mentality, his maturity, his leadership, and just all the stuff he does on court and also offcourt makes him my favorite player of the decade.
  21. Zaza looks horrible. Zaza and Joe Smith should never be on the floor together EVER, unless its garbage time. Pretty evenly officiated game. Hawks just need to tighten up defensively and get some exciting plays going....the crowd looks like it's bored. I want a loud Philips Arena!!
  22. "F Joe Smith missed his seventh consecutive game due to a dislocated left thumb. He is doubtful for the Hawks' next game, Tuesday against Cleveland." From Yahoo Sports
  23. I think Billups is a gametime decision if he plays or not when we face the Nuggets. Let's hope he sits.
  24. I remember Tim Legler in the 2005 draft saying that Josh Smith has the most chance on being a bust. That didn't happen, but I always thought that Legler was a pretty decent analyst.
  25. Yeah, I'm trying to buy a Josh Smith alternate jersey as well, but the checkout still has the regular price in it......
