  1. Kind of random but have you heard anything about Jonathon Isaac's availability?
  2. It definitely makes sense, you're right that his playmaking is underwhelming compared to the rest of his game. But I do think whatever team drafts him is best served playing him at point and developing those skills. Even if he never becomes an above average passer, I still think combo guards are better playing point and having another facillitator in the lineup.
  3. This is just my own conjecture (and wishful thinking) but I think Sac ends up dealing #4 to New York for Randle and a bunch of picks. Ivey is the clear #4 prospect in this draft and he doesn't want to play for the Kings. Which neccesitates them moving the pick for the best haul possible. I think Collins name is being thrown in to boost value in the pick. Ivey is not projected to be a great defender or complementary offball player, which is what Atlanta needs. Ivey however could be the lead guard New York needs, which is who I think will be making a move for him. Daniels is most likely our target, and I don't think Collins will need to be moved to make it happen if Daniels lasts till #7 or #8.
  4. I'd rather keep Kev over Bogi, but we can do better than either of them. If Kev can get us #8, he should go. The Pelicans are a great situation for him to go to anyways.
  5. I think if we can pull of a heist like Huerter for #8 and filler you have to do it. There are multiple prospects in this draft that could surpass him by year two, and we don't need them to be immediate starters if Bogi's knees can be managed.
  6. If that Huerter deal is really on the table, Schlenk better stop there. Jaden Ivey is not worth #8 and JC. Much better off taking Daniels if he's still there or AJ Griffin then take a SG at #16 since we'd still have it.
  7. I mean, this is still the Hawks. Their plan could be so terrible we're suprised they're even considering it.
  8. That would explain a lot of our pursuit for him then. If they think he's a shooter, he can start Day 1.
  9. That was my intention. I like Daniels as a prospect but I'm convinced we'll set ourselves back 4 years if we trade JC in order to draft him.
  10. That player + a jump shot is exactly who you'd want next to Trae. A more versatile defender that can matchup with whatever perimeter threat Hunter's not covering. A guard that is effective on offense without high usage. That's not a common archetype. I'm skeptical drafting him can work out because he can't shoot and that's the skill that makes you Derrick White instead of an all-star.
  11. FWIW, Daniels has greater upside than what White currently is. I'm skeptical he gets there on this team, but I do think he's a very good prospect that has a skillset that would complement any guard, but especially Trae.
  12. Do you know how well of a shooter he's projected to become (not from the Hawks specifically, but in general)? As a prospect he kind of reminds me of Michael Carter Williams and I mean that in a good way. But he's not a shooter at all, and I question how effective of a guard he can become if he's not at least a decent catch and shoot player.
  13. If we're losing JC it's because we trying to find an upgrade at SG and JC is our best asset to do it. It seems like the Hawks think he's expendable and it might set us back a lot.
  14. And the expectations for Daniels are how high? I know Collins isn't the best player in the league, but how good is Daniels projected to be in 2 years? This seems like another step backwards for us with no guarantee we have a long-term pairing next to Trae.
  15. Why is it a lie when things are changing all the time? If the price comes down on one of our targets, then what might have been a quiet offseason could turn into a major overhaul. That doesn't mean Schlenk was trying to be deceptive.
  16. How many "old school" PFs are even in the league, and actually remotely as good as Collins? We're not losing games because Collins is getting burned by perimeter players. Collins may not be a versatile defender, but he's not the one getting targeted. I can understand how an upgrade on the wing for us is not available for what we're willing to trade for, but trading Collins for a lotto pick will set us back. Daniels is a big question mark with his shooting.
  17. AJ Griifin would be a nice addition for us if he's there. If we have a JJ/OO pairing in the frontcourt off the bench next year, Griffin can provide spacing in the lineup. I'm less concerned about his defense in that role because we potentially could have JJ, Huerter or even Delon taking tougher defensive assignments leaving Griffin with less responsibility on that end. If the injury issues get better in the future though, he'd be a great wing to bring off the bench. I don't think Griffin will fall that far though. Jalen Williams or Ochai Agbaji ae who I see us selecting if we keep the #16 pick.
  18. I did watch the Warriors in the playoffs. I'm wondering if you really did. Because my point this whole time has been that the Warriors have great help defense which is what sets them apart from other teams. Wiggins defense was trash in Minny and he looks better now mostly because he's playing within a better defensive team. Everybody covers for each other on the Warriors which is more important than any individual's defensive ability. These are Brown, Tatum and Luka's stats who were Wiggins main assignments in the last 2 series. Wiggins did fine, I'm not calling him a bad defender. But commentators would talk like he's shutting these guys down and he can't do that. Someone else in this thread called Draymond a DPOY candidate, and the Warriors actively avoided primarily matching Green up with these guys. If Draymond was really a DPOY or even the GOAT defender as he calls himself, why didn't he get that assignment? That's not how they run their defense. Me bringing that up isn't trying to slander Green. You need a to work as a team to slow elite offensive players down, they're too skilled. That's why I question why people only want to talk about personnel changes, when the guys we already have are not useless on that end. The Hawks will improve defensively when we become more engaged and a better help defense. We have to need to pressure the ball more often, and rotate better when we do it. Coaching is the bigger obstacle for us than personnel.

    Can....

He could be made the starting SG, yes. But I think it would be a mistake not keeep him as the backup PG. You bring up his 3pt shooting percentages, but keep in mind per 36 minutes, he's only putting up 2.9 3pt attempts. In comparison, Huerter shoots 6.8 and Bogi shoots 8.9 3pt attempts. Thats a large difference in volume that I don't think Delon could replicate while maintaining efficiency if he played their minutes. I also don't think we should expect Hunter to elevate his offensive game either to make up for the Delon's lack of volume. I think Delon is our best option as a backup PG anyways. It would be difficult to find another backup PG who brings the same combination of defense and shooting with the size Delon has. We're better keeping him in his role and finding an upgrade for the SG position some other way if possible.
  20. I'll go with Deandre Ayton. That should be a straightforward deal to do if Ayton wants to sign with us.
  21. Well I'm fine dieing alone on the hill that his defense is overrated if we're solely focusing on his individual contributions to the team. That isn't me trying to say the Warriors need to upgrade, but more so that l think it'd be more beneficial to look at how the Warriors help each other on the court to make up for each other's limitations/matchup problems. Take another guy for example, Andrew Wiggins. He was known as an underwhelming defender before he arrived at GS, yet they gave him some of the hardest defensive matchups in this playoff run. Some will say he's putting in more effort and playing at a much higher level, but I'm arguing that players around him are helping him more than anything. That's a concept replicated by a lot of good defenses and it could be replicated here regardless of our personnel. But we (the whole basketball community) are not focusing on that, just the results of the game and I think as Hawks fans we'll be waiting a while if we think some personnel changes will do the trick.
  22. The only thing DBPM shows is that your team's defense is better with you on the court than with you off it. And I'm not arguing that the Warriors have a better alternative than Green on their roster. He has been a consistent positive influence for them. But you really don't thin Jokic is a top 10 defender all time or that Hawk alumni Tree Rollins was a better defender than TIm Duncan, do you?
  23. I think Georgia was the better team overall, but I don't think its unfair to bring up Jameson WIlliams' injury considering he was having a very good game until it happened. His abscsence limited Bama's ability to take shots down the field. My disagreement is with using other teams as a measuring stick. You build the best team you can to beat whoever is in front of you. Every season presents new challenges, so I don't agree that Georgia built their team with concern about what Bama or anybody else was doing.
