  1. My attitude.... he's over us.... I'm over him. I'm not angry. Every other day of the year, we all acknowledge that this is a business. He's made his choice. He's walked out of our own Shark Tank of sorts. And in my best Mr. Wonderful voice, "he's dead to me." He now belongs to the NBA general board.
  2. Talking myself into the idea that HOU would be all-in on this... specifically, acquiring Splitter w/o having to give up any assets. Patterson thrown in for salary purposes, though HOU might give him a look in training camp, too.
  3. We did it with Mack and Scott. I dunno. Maybe agents have been increasingly advising against 2 + 1, and we're just bending to it(?).
  4. Couple of things that I'll dare to suggest fanatic didn't take into account in his calculation... first that the number isn't $5m less than DH's salary, but a sum of salaries that multiplied by 1.25 (125%) produces his $22,488,038. Then, too, I would have thought that Teague's trade kicker ($800k?) also counts. Notably, these combinations would seemingly work out... noting also that since signings won't occur for a few days yet, Dwight's salary can still be adjusted by a few thousand to make it work out exact. Korver+Scott+Patterson = $9.447m Splitter+Patterson = $9.424m Sefalosha+Scott+Muscala = $9.073m
  5. Not quite that simple, if I understand correctly. First, have to work out who we send out ~$9m in players/contracts to... picking from HOU, IND and UTA.
  6. Yah. Must've been distracted while picking up my daughter at the airport. *wink*
  7. Under the circumstances, wouldn't be surprised if we just got our "veteran" (27 yr old) back-up PG.
  8. http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2016/7/3/12007692/how-much-cap-space-is-left-more-than-you-think If this is his swan song, it is a sweet tune indeed. The Cliff's notes (not that it's one of his longer articles) is that the Teague trade isn't officially done, and conceivably could be expanded so that HOU sends Dwight to us... essentially restoring Teague's $8m salary space to our cap room.
  9. Wondering about summer league eligibility rules... will we be able to see this guy in a few days?
  10. Congrats on that first-ever post @DUrce1.... new to the Hawks, or just new to the board?
  11. Shams says we just signed to a 2 year guaranteed deal.
  12. Yeah, I even like your title better.... Granite Curtain.... excellent. If football defenses get nicknames, no reason ours shouldn't as well.
  13. Note to self.... when you see hazer has posted something, go read it before you write.... more often than not, he already had the thought, and you're just channeling his.
  14. Schröder Baze Thabo Sap DH And you know what they say.... defense wins championships!
  15. In all seriousness.... well, in most seriousness anyway... This seems so strange on the surface. I think all of us have taken a leave of absence on occasion from the board, whether intentional or just life getting in the way. And while we're not all personal friends, we are still friends in a quite empirical way. I don't get the point of a decisive divorce, to the extent of obliterating all history and his account, and the natural inclination is to think there was some disagreement that led to it. But my more hopeful side, benefit of a doubt, says maybe that's not it at all... that, rather, this is a matter of a big life change occurring that demands his total attention to be given to other more important things, and he's determined that his love of the Hawks and his participation on this board (and on Peachtree) became too much. God knows, when you read one of his articles, the thought had to occur for most of us.... "Dang.... this not only took a lot of time to write.... it took a lot of time to think through it in order to be able to write." God also knows, as much as it is a downer that the Hawks can't sniff a championship, this is in fact only a consumer entertainment choice that we all make to invest ourselves in, and it probably could stand to occupy a whole lot less of my/our time than it does... so, if that's something close to what is prompting fanatic to cut the rope, I say, congrats to you that you took the bull by the horns and made what had to be a hard decision in light of achieving something better for your life, fanatic. ============== Edit: (In my best Rosanne Rosannadanna voice... ) Oh. He's just backing off of posting here? He's not retiring from Hawk-dom? Nev-errrrr-mind.
  16. Now c'mon fanatic.... you can't leave THIS. I'm sitting here in full belly laugh.
  17. I'll give you this--it doesn't sound like they think he's ready for prime time. Based on the premise that another team did think he was ready, though, suggests it's a borderline call, and that with our sudden turbulence, there's reason to think Wilcox could reconsider.
  18. Right. But too, if you recall, we traded the #54 pick because Wilcox anticipated we would have trouble allotting a roster slot to him.... things have changed drastically, of course. I could easily imagine a situation where we trade Korver or trade Hardaway, and reconsider Cordinier's status, couldn't you?
  19. For now, Muscala. I'd love to keep Scott, of course, but as I understand it, with his arraignment coming up, and with his taped confession in the prosecution's hands, and with any conviction of any kind (regardless even if he does no jail time) meaning automatic exile from the league for 2 years.... the smart money would seem to be obvious.
  20. @NBASupes , here are my numbers... I forgot that I went ahead and cut Patterson, btw. Also, you are correct that, on 7-2-16, we are below the cap and do not qualify for the MLE. But unless I'm mistaken--always possible--we could take back a salary in trade that is something b/t 100-150% of what we send out that would push us over the line... and thus opening up the full MLE to us.
  21. Actually, Random, I'm not sure of that on Cordinier. As I understood it, he was intending to come over and play with the team that had promised to draft him, then that fell through, and of course we drafted him.... then, at the press conference I believe he indicated he intended to play for a team in France's highest division.... as-in, it wasn't yet known that that would be the case, but it was his intention.
