  1. @hawksfanatic ... here, have a snickers bar... ;)
  2. Easy to imagine that, with Scott's off-court legal problems being what they are, Hump already is penciled-in for 2016-17, wouldn't you think?
  3. Seems before that Budcox has been pretty consistent about timing it up so that they could send him (and Edy for that matter) to Austin. That, together with the point that Bud even after last night's game was continuing to talk about shortcomings on offense... together with the point that Lamar's not had the kind of 3-point shooting hoped for... together with the point that we've actually been mentioned pretty steadily as a landing spot for KMart... bring me to think Lamar might now be an after thought where the 2015-16 season is concerned. No?
  4. So, all told, Budcox gets about a 3.5/5.0... which translates to a C average. Interesting. If you'd hidden the quantitative from me and asked me to guess, based on what people wrote in the thread, I would have put it easily at a B+ or even A-.
  5. @macdaddy It was confusing the way it leaked out, but in the end, my understanding was this: ATL out: Mack + Holliday ATL in: Hinrich UTA out: 2nd Rd Pick UTA in: Mack CHI out: Hinrich CHI in: UTA 2nd Rd Pick + Holliday I believe Budcox perceived letting someone else pay Holliday in order to free up the roster slot they wanted to free up was what tipped the scale in favor of lets-do-this... so in effect, from a Budcox perspective, you might fill in "player to be named later off the waiver wire" on the "ATL in" line.
  6. Really, really disappointed in the GSW loss. Call me crazy, but I just saw us walking out of there with the win, under the circumstances.
  7. So you're telling me that if he were only in his 9th season and about to play for his 7th team, that would be different... that would be easier to understand... hehe...
  8. Did you come up with that @benhillboy ? Going to steal and re-use that one sometime.
  9. Found this seemingly insightful piece.... http://www.complex.com/sports/2015/02/kris-humphries-power-forward-washington-wizards-misunderstood-and-underappreciated
  10. Not Beno (he's out for at least the regular season, I believe), but I was wondering instead if it might be tempting to cut Lamar now (anticipating that if you really want him back next season, it isn't like there would be stiff competition) to sign up Dorell Wright--a wing that many of us were thinking could be an off-season signing before he took a presumably bigger paycheck in China.
  11. Honestly, given the legitimate options out there, and given Splitter's injury, I'm just not sure anyone can better check off the boxes you'd like to see checked off. I even thought he was a couple of years older than he is... knock-on-wood, if he actually comes in and performs decent, I could see there being interest in the off-season in signing him for 2-3 years.
  12. Anyone else around here think Mr. JayBird must live quite the entertaining life? She is a hoot.
  13. Now if we can get @Hotlanta1981 to announce he's concluded that the Hawks now are shoe-ins to take the Eastern Conference finals.... I think we're golden, aren't we?
  14. hehe... hey, look, I know there are so many posters here who always follow my lead... take @hawksfanatic for example... so, didn't want to tip the scale right off the bat. That's my story and... yeah...
  15. Why wait? @macdaddy let's get your "Hawks are DOA for the 2015-16 season" proclamation done before this Warriors game tips off, eh?
  16. All things considered, rate Budcox' Kris Humphries acquisition
  17. Will we hear that this is the guy they were hoping would land in their laps all along? And then... do you think that's at all believable?
  18. Dang. Didn't see this coming, and am just now finding out that, in Paul Milsap style, Hump has shown himself actually capable of shooting 3s after years and years of living inside the arc. Pleasantly intrigued. Not a savior, of course, but no doubt we'll see him on the floor more than Holliday. Could be a contributor if our core guys find 4th or 5th gear at some point.
  19. hehe... I'm thinking what that scale looks like... on a 1 to 10, I think maybe this means our cranky uncle is now at 0.9, from a previous high of 1.1, no?.... (j/k)
  20. I kinda sorta agree that so many times through the years for any one of my teams, there's been some icon whose signing was thought to be all-important, only to find that someone else was signed instead, and that someone else ended up exceeding that bigger name's production. A month ago, I was so ready to see this very situation develop (ie, JJ being bought out). I felt like he could be that key veteran whose presence could make a difference, though I know several disagreed. (In fact, most disagreed he would be bought out, and only a few of us thought we would be part of the conversation, based on the premise that CLE was the automatic landing spot.) And I still feel like JOe would be a shot in the arm for us, but I'm just less certain that his presence will make a difference. Our season really rides on the horses we've got to all get their games back to the premium where they were playing last season, and all the more so now that Splitter's out. It's that simple. So, I'm actually more content... not happy, but content... with signing a D-league project. We're not going to sign a savior to our season. That player isn't out there. Joe was only, in my book, thought to be a booster shot, not a savior. If there's a turnaround, it will have to come from within.
  21. Wake me up when Woj reports something.
