  1. Yeah, I also think Okoro best fits the bill for Atlanta, unless Cleveland nabs him at 5.
  2. I should clarify. I don't consider him just a guy. I forgot to also include his intangibles and leadership skills, which are off the charts. I just think that he's a notch below max-level.
  3. I still think back to an alternate 2016 where we sign Al instead of Dwight, don't resign Bazemore, trade Milsapp to Denver for picks and players, and draft Caris LeVert in the first round. Literally a dream scenario.
  4. I agree with all of these points. I don't believe that Milwaukee will trade him unless forced by Giannis. I don't believe that Giannis will force a trade. But I also don't believe that Miami would trade Bam or Herro. I think they want to sign Giannis outright without giving up any pieces.
  5. I think you're right that John presents a unique skill set. The question becomes what skill set is worth paying a max or near-max contract that will tie up our salary cap. I personally think that he'll have to continue to become more of a weapon as a perimeter shooter to justify that type of financial commitment. I'm just not so sure how much a good-rebounding, defensively-average rim runner is worth paying for if that's all you get.
  6. The actual location of the thread has been moved. Look on the main Homecourt page. Scroll to the bottom and you'll see a list of Most Recent Non-Homecourt Topics. Ask Supes is listed there. But when you click onto it, it mentions the 500 post requirement.
  7. The question is who has a combination of young players and picks that can top something like that? Does GSW think that Milwaukee would really want Andrew Wiggins? I realize that teams like Miami have a huge leg up if it's Free Agency in 2021. But who is the team to beat in a trade this offseason?
  8. Who says no on this ATL trade for Giannis? Collins Dedmon Huerter 2020 #6 2022 OKC pick
  9. Yeah, apparently you need to have 500 posts under your belt to see Supes' stuff now. I usually inject his info into my veins. Man, I gotta get busy!
  10. Yeah, totally. The Bud-Cox apologists blame it all on Ressler.
  11. Yeah, but he had some leverage when he was talking to Milwaukee. They were pretty desperate for a name coach to take Giannis to the next level. I don't think a whole lot of folks outside of Atlanta are fully aware of the personnel follies of the Bud-Cox regime. I bet many outside folk pin their failings more on Wilcox. Thus, I wouldn't be surprised if Bud negotiated himself a certain amount of personnel say, even if they didn't make him the actual GM.
  12. I agree. But I think the seat is already . If they win this series, they'd be the first 3-0 survivors in NBA history.
  13. The scary good thing about Okoro is that he pretty much comes equipped with everything BUT a reliable shot. He's got a real good handle. He's got great passing vision. He can penetrate. He's an elite finisher, with either hand. And of course he's a shut-down corner. Oh by the way, he's also got the motor and work ethic to develop his shot. Vassell doesn't have much of a handle, and therefore doesn't have much penetrating ability. But he's a top-tier team defender. Thus, some of his fans describe him as a poor-man's Klay Thompson. But Klay might be one of the greatest shooters of all time. So I see Vassell's peak outcome as a Kris Middleton, which would be real good, but not nearly the ceiling that Okoro has in my opinion.
  14. Man, I remember LeBron bragging openly at the end of the ECF in 2015 about how easy we were to figure out, and our lack of adjustments. Bud just got a one game reprieve. But I wonder what his offseason will be like. I don't think he'll get fired. But he may have to make some concessions. I've always wondered if he was given some unspoken personnel power up there. He may have to relinquish that.
  15. Bruno's got the athleticism, and I'm buying his outside shot. He just needs to figure out NBA big-man life.
  16. I think that the biggest data point against John being a vital piece moving forward is his lack of self-creation ability. But, if he advances his outside shooting ability a little bit more, which I think he can (I buy his shot), then I think he may have just enough self-creation juice, combined with his other elite skills, to reach All-Star status.
  17. Remember, a lot of development work falls on the assistant coaching staff, who actually have the real time to spend one on one with these guys. It's not like Bud was running drills for each of his guys. It was Quin, Darvin, Taylor, etc.

    Ask Supes

Hey, I just wanted to turn the Ask Supes thread into a Thank Supes one, lol. Your inside updates, along with thecampster's data, really dialed up the fun factor this trade deadline, so much so that it would have made things entertaining even if the Hawks had not ended up being so active. Hopefully we can do something similar in June and July around the draft and free agency.
  19. Atlanta has more high ceiling guys. Ja has a similar ceiling to Trae. But Huerter, Collins, and Reddish have more potential than anyone else the Grizz have. JJJ is rounding into a high end role player as a switchable stretch big who can't rebound and is an inconsistent scorer. Brandon Clarke was a ready-made high-floor low-ceiling role player. The other difference in processes is that the Grizz were able to cash in on their valuable veterans such as Gasol, Iggy, and Crowder. BudCox let ours slip away for next to nothing. So we were forced to start our rebuild virtually from scratch.

    Ask Supes

Actually 2016-2017 was the most terrible of the recent seasons. We got blown out in many of the games. We went out with a whimper against Washington in the first round. And we had no hope for a better future. The tank officially is now over. It lasted only 2 1/2 seasons, as all of the recent trades went towards being better on the floor NOW. We now have more collective talent than we did on that 2016-2017 team. And we have hope for a future that arrives as early as next year.
  21. Remember, there was extreme competition for the #4 pick. Minnesota was hot on its heels. And reportedly the Celtics were extremely disappointed because they thought that they were close to getting it. Not to mention the fact that Cleveland was almost guaranteed to take Hunter at #5. So, as a team that trusts its scouting, Atlanta could either go and get the guy they deemed to be uniquely valuable, or they could sit back and hope for "value" and take a player they determined to have noticeably less potential.
  22. I think the key statement was your last one there. You wanted your guy Clarke. You're completely taking the "draft website guy" view of things. The only thing draft websites focus on, as much as I love to read them, is value. They don't actually have the scouting acumen or track record to bank on, so they focus on how much perceived value a team got in a draft pick and especially in a trade. However, teams, at least the ones with credible scouting departments, follow their draft chart and act accordingly, not worrying about players that they don't like as much. Atlanta, under Schlenk, has a more than credible scouting history and deserve the benefit of the doubt. If they determine a skinny center from Texas who can't rebound, or a tweener from Gonzaga who doesn't have length and can't shoot or pass, are not worth their time then so be it, I say.
  23. Schlenk definitely sucks at negotiating trades, but they've luckily only been small trades thus far. He has, however, already drafted better than any GM in Hawks history. And, he understands cap management better than the majority of GM's in the league.
  24. You can blame GM Bud for losing Horford and Sap for nothing, and for signing Schröder to a negative value contract.
  25. If a team, like Sacramento, keeps picking in the high lottery, they're simply not hitting on enough of those picks. The successful franchises hit on at least a majority of their 1st round picks. The Sacratomatoes of the world hit on a minority of them, and thus stay embedded in the Top 10 of the draft. If Travis Schlenk makes approximately 8 first round selections from 2017 through 2020, and secures at least above average players with at least 5 of those selections, while maintaining salary cap flexibility, then we're in business. It really can be that simple.
