I've shared everything with you guys. Just the updates and the roles as well as full buy-in from the players.

This team could get 1st in the East, maybe even win the in season tournament. Unlikely to win a finals or get to the Finals but we can have a great year with the full buy-in

I'll see what they look like after the first 24 games before I start believing the hype again,  Until proven otherwise, this is a .500 team as far as I am concerned. They are not going to take me for the okey doke again.

I hear ya.  And I'm not sure I disagree with the show me attitude regarding the mediocrity in season.  But I'm still amped up for the season to start.  I haven't seen the Hawks play in five months so I'm ready.  Win, lose, or suck, it's still the Atlanta Hawks runnin in the A.  At least to me anyway.

Oh yeah, I'm ready for the season. Just not excited by the workouts, the over exaggerated improvements such and such has made all for them to end up in the playing.

I'm at the point where talknis cheap and you got to show me you want it as bad as I want it for you.

  3. I hate to be a downer, but nothing this team does, as far as practices, NBA runs, etc., before the season excites me anymore.   They are going to have to prove it on the court this year.  In year's past, I was all excited about everything with the offseason.  After last year's full season of mediocrity, I'm expecting a 41-41 season until they prove otherwise.

I want to see this team hungry and playing hard on both sides of the ball from the start to end of the season to get a top seed. Hopefully, Quinn can be a big help with consistency this upcoming season.

I am ready for the preseason game though.

I'm not jumping the gun with being okay with trading him because of this.  As long as it does not permeate the locker room and cause any issue, which by all accounts, it has not since there has been no mention of any of this during the season.  He has been quoting scripture all year.  He's 19 finding his own path, he'll have missteps along the way - he just has to learn from them whatever they are.

He learned pretty quickly which is why he took down that Beyonce tweet...lol

I remember getting detention in high school back in the day because a debate got so heated. Instead of doing chemistry experiments we were 'debating' religion and churches. :laugh1:

Yeah, religion is one thing I don't really debate with people. I respect whatever people believe or don't believe. Feel free to feel what you feel as long as you aren't trying to force it on other people.  AJ doesn't seem to be doing that here either. I like how his faith helps keep going and be positive about life.

It's great that he has strong faith.  It definitely concerns me a little when folks say the rapture is about to happen any day now.

That's where I'm at.  Good faith keeps him grounded, but that entire end times part is what people were debating with him about.

I understand AJ's point. I also understand the counter points of people have been saying these are the end days since the 1700's.

I don't think you can genuinely say "we" here... I'm not going to scroll through and pull receipts, but the narrative that he doesn't want to be here and won't re-sign is reinforced by many posters every single time Siakam comes up.  That and people not understanding future cap space and market value.  Obviously, I'm fine with people not thinking the fit is good or not wanting to overpay -- that's why I come to this discussion board, to have deeper-than-surface-level back and forth on players, fit, salary cap, etc.  But there's not been much discussion around Siakam, unfortunately, other than hand-waving him away because of "spacing" and "3P shooting".  And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention this is another pass on Siakam post that doesn't mention or acknowledge defense.

There are more posts about the fit issue in this thread than the not re-signing issue.  The fit issue isn't about the spacing and 3P Shooting.  It's about can you have a front court of two 6'8" players and be successful.  Does Jalen Johnson fit with Siakim and his skillset?  Does Dejounte?  The answer is yeah, it can work, but would it be the best for the Hawks.  In my opinion, NO!  That's the only reason I wanted KAT because he makes everyone that we currently have on the roster fit into a nice role and the skillsets compliment each other.  You can say yeah, the defense may suck.  The defense may suck with Siakiam too with a much worse offensive impact.

He actually posed a great question.  Construct a championship roster.

    Here are your restraints:

    • You can only use 2 guys who are All-NBA talents
    • Your 3rd guy has to be a best, a fringe All-Star talent . . ( no more than 1 All-Star appearance )
    • The remaining 2 starters cannot be All-Star talents
    • And you cannot use more than 2 guys off of the same team to construct your team.  This means that you can't simply take Jokic, Murray, and Gordon, and add 2 more people to round out the team.

Build what you think would be a championship level team.

If Peoria isn't willing or able to do this, how about someone else take a crack at this.  Should be pretty easy, right?

    PG - Trae Young

    SG - Desmond Bane

    SF - OG

    PF - Onyeka

    Center - Jokic

Edit: I must have been under a rock, I didn't realize that SGA was first team all nba and 5th in MVP voting. That's really wild.

  9. This really is wild. If someone hadn't mentioned Trae gets players better shots, we wouldn't have this weird debate that coaches have no impact on where players are getting their looks from.

Literally against Boston Quin told Jalen and John they had to shoot the three point shot to open up spacing. Jalen was a great example of letting it fly.  He hit some big ones and missed a lot, but it's about the process of not hesitating when you have an open look.

Yet he hasn't done nothing yet.

It's going to be AJ or JJ.  I like both.. but  PMills and TJ Hardaway ain't going to get you KAT.

The insiders said the Wolves wanted Saddiq Bey so you don't have to include any of the youngins in there.  We are essentially taking on a super max for a non super max player.  There's value in that.  If the Wolves covet bey, you send him and filler and Capela out with a first round pick.

That cap savings is worth a ton.

Alright let’s declare our allegiance now. Team KAT stand up. Team Siakim show yourselves. Lol.

I am on the KAT train. Toot toot.

Team KAT. I'm more about roster fit.  KAT will not hurt our defensive ranking from last year and I think Quinn would get some improvement there.   With the offense we will have we'd only have to be top 15 defensively to make a run.  Just getting Siakim will cause roster construction problems  which I can not over look. I prefer KAT.

I'm 100% team KAT.  Shoot first, ask questions (about defense) later 🤣
