  1. Quote: I would take Ben at the Max for 5 yrs. I think he'd be better than Karl Malone at the same ages. Excuse me while I choke on my dinner. There is only one active PF that can be mentioned in the same breath as Malone, and he plays for the Spurs.
  2. Quote: My guess is he's working through his reasoning so that Stevie-boy and his lawyers have a hard time attacking his ruling. Patience. Heh. I totally agree with this. If he were going to rule pro-Belkin - it wouldn't take very long (I deny this request due to lack of authority, or the precendence of the governing contract, etc.) Time is on our side. The longer this takes, the more likely that Stern is building a solid justification for removing Belkin.
  3. Quote: A must-have for any flight, Belkin insists. These high-end headphones drown out engine noise so you can sit in perfect silence or listen to your tunes -- instead of the wailing baby in Seat 15B (or maybe the other 70% of ownership who actually know what they're talking about). WHAT!? I'M SORRY! I CAN'T HEAR YOUR LOGICAL GRIPE! MY NOISE CANCELLING HEADPHONES ARE ON! Brilliant! What a post by a first-timer. Thanks for your contribution to the insanity.
  4. Gearon seems to think the judge's ruling was essentialy: "This is an NBA matter". Dimino said that the NBA ruling would take "no more than days - certainly not weeks". -S
  5. Why? What do you expect to accomplish? How do you intend to function at below league minimum payroll? How do you intend to function without binding the majority against their will? Give me an example of what you intend to do in the best interest of the league, the ownership fraternity, the team, the fans and the city of Atlanta. And finally... What the hell is your problem? Is your wenis *that small* that you feel the need for this?
  6. Maybe BK is trying to get Belkin to fire him. Then the other owners can show "irreperable harm". Scott
  7. "A governor is a device used to measure and regulate the speed of a machine , such as an engine." Sounds like Stevie-boy to me. The machine has been slowed to a halt. Excellent governing. Scott
  8. I think the gist of the legal argument against Belkin should be related to his undermining the consistent and persistent efforts of Knight to build cap room that Belkin never had the intention of spending. When somebody is swimming upstream against such an obvious flow in the otyher direction - how could a judge agree that there isn't damage done? Scott
  9. Quote: "You have no case against me. You can't prove that I beat my wife - despite the black eyes and the threatening comments - you didn't *see* me do it! "
  10. Quote: in order to not have to worry about losing their 2007 draft choice. Next year, we will likely give Phoenix the Lakers pick that is coming to us and we will have our first rounder, and probably lose ours to Phoenix in 2007. Since next year will likely be a weak draft, we can just trade our 1st rounder next year for an established veteran player. After doing that, according to league rules, we would not be allowed to give up our 2007 pick, thereby allowing us to stay in and hopefully grab one of the talented bigs that will be available. Somebody call Belkin and tell him this, since the draft picks seem to be his biggest concern. A 2006 mid 1st and a 2008 mid 1st seems very fair to me for JJ. VERY interesting. I'm curious as to precedence when terms are in conflict. I have a hard time believing it could be this easy to devalue the pick.
  11. he sees that Phx has no intention of matching? What would you think of us offering less in light of the public comments by Phx management? Maybe just revert to signing the offer sheet... Personally (in hindsight) - I think we could have offered less (or just gone with an offer sheet). However, backing out of a deal stinks, and would further hinder future good faith efforts in the ownership/GM community.
  12. Quote: if this deal didn't go through because of ownership.....as long time Hawks fans? I'd be tempted to return my season tickets. I wouldn't do it - but I *should* do it. I didn't get the best vibes from Belkin on draft night. That being said - i think this deal gets done.
  13. 1) Nique 2) Smitty 3) Randy Wittman 4) Craig Ehlo 5) Smoove
  14. Nothing better than Yinka Dare and the subsequent commentary. "When he hits rigor mortis, throw him out there with his hands up." He might get some rebounds and at least one accidental assist.
  15. Quote: I agree. A .500 record likely gets you in the playoffs in the East. That's 42 wins. IMO, despite the addition of Joe Johnson and further development of the players we currently have, expecting a 29-30 game turnaround is a little unrealistic. I think the Hawks will be showing great improvment if they can get to 25-30 wins, for this year. Another semi high lotto pick and another solid free agent acquisition could be enough to get the team the 12-15 extra wins they will need in 2006-2007 to compete for a playoff spot. Just b/c I said the spotlight is on Woodson doesn't mean I implied "he'd better make this a playoff team this year". I simply wanted to point out that BK can only do so much, and that there is the need for Woodson to do what he is known for...teach some defense to some players with the tools to play funadmentally sound and beyond.
  16. ...Mike Woodson. My take on the Hawks "plan" is that BK believes that with enough athleticism and a couple solid shooters that the offense will take care of itself. He is now putting the expectations upon Woodson to take the appropriate physical tools and apply them into a solid defensive core. Long arms tend to serve playing some zone. There are elements of Phoenix (run-n-gun) and Detroit (long and athletic with key shooters) in what BK has built. Whether we get Hunter or Zsa Zsa wwill go a long way in seeing whether BK thinks we are more a Phx or a Det-like team.
  17. Respondents...check your email. Thanks- Scott
  18. can't at least one additional Squawker "man up" for $100 to get 2 tix to 10 games? This would give me the WAF (wife acceptance factor) needed to order a package. Yeah - I know - I should "man up" and tell my wife, rather than ask. Who is with me? Skaughty
  19. Quote: ...Also it should probably be a game that won't be a sellout so people could come last minute... Sounds like somebody just needs: 1) A Hawks schedule 2) A dartboard 3) One dart Sad...but true! Scott
  20. I'm looking for takers, as I'd like to place my order this week. I'll be getting 2 tix in either section 304 or 317 (equivalent view, just diff. sides). Tix are $199 per, so $400 for the season. $10/game for 2 people. I'd like to retain anywhere from 10-20 games for myself. FinalQuest has requested 10. Anybody else want 10-20 ($100-$200)? Skaughtybee
  21. Unless it comes from the top of the organization - it'll be easy to say "We *intended* to match, but were trumped by the fiscal constraints of the ownership. I think it is 50/50 at this point.
  22. Quote: Anyone else interested in buying in for tickets? Even if we had one person willing to buy in we could make it work. Skaughty bee could buy a half season at two seats for $199. I would buy a 1/4 season at $100, and one more person to go for the rest of the season. I'd be glad to do this arrangement. After a discussion with my wife - anywhere from half to one quarter sounds good. I work at P'Tree and 15th st. - so ticket distribution would be easy with Tech students if we chose to switch off games during the season. Scott
  23. I had Thrashers tickets (don't laugh) in section 304. For $24 they were worth it. At $5 per - the view is great (though better for hockey than hoops). The hawks.com site has views from each section. Go there. Scott
  24. Quote: Again I ask: who here has met Diesel? None of us. Clearly Diesel is a bot. Nothing else can explain the volume and fluctuations in *its* posts. Now that the mystery is solved - can we get back to discussing season tix? Scott
  25. I love the idea. I was going to get 2 of the $199 packages myself, but splitting them a few ways would be ideal. Scott
