  1. What's going on is Dwight is fed up of Dennis and Dennis is fed up of Dwight. That didn't take long at all.
  2. 1-10 is undefendable, but you know what also is? Playing pick and roll defense like its 1995.
  3. Well, no Millsap today should show folks how absolutely vital he is. Without him, this is a 15-20 win team.
  4. I feel like I talked about this in a different thread. It's much harder to determine what Hardaway Jr's contract is going to be over a guy like Bazemore or Carroll because he's not 3/D and folks around the league may still be wary about him due to his 14/15 and the fact he's playing in an offensive system that really helps guards. As much as folks may think that he's regarded more highly than him, he may be seen to have similar value or not as high as a guy like Allen Crabbe for example. I bet the Nets do offer him a contract but its NOT the max. Now if he was regarded well defensively, forget it, he's getting the max, but he's not at all.
  5. Prince has shown an intriguing sign, I just don't think he has star potential. He's been given regular minutes and left alone and has looked a lot better. When he is able to be in a position where all he has to do is run the floor, make an occasional straight line drive, and can spot up, he's fine. And I suspect it would have been the same much earlier.
  6. If Dwight were actually giving effort, I wouldn't be saying anything, but he's been putting up a pitiful performance since the break. He has regressed to all of his bad tendencies. It was good for a while, but since the break, it hasn't been.
  7. When they try to force it to Dwight more than they do, they turn it over 18-20 times and throw the rest of the team out of sync. If you want to see Dwight *********get the ball more*********, then you want to see Calderon start, because the rest of the guards on the team are young and don't know how to throw good post entry passes. It's not going to get better with any of them at all. But realistically, this is who Dwight is, a 5th option player that gets two post touches a game, and the rest of his paint touches are spoonfed for him.
  8. The *****give the ball to Dwight***** over and over game already totally flopped earlier in the season and caused the 1-10 stretch. The choice to ignore Dwight helped a lot.
  9. He's the second overseas stash that really has me intrigued but I don't expect anything from him for at least two seasons....suspect he comes over in '19 and plays in the d league mainly then.

It really looks like Ilyasova was also a one last chance to see if a carrot of earning playing time would help motivate Muscala, like with Dunleavy and Prince (reading between the lines, I don't expect Dunleavy to play one minute ROS).
  11. Maybe not extremely, but every player on the perimeter would have to have big athleticism for it to really work on defense with Dwight. As it is, everyone on the perimeter has to have their hand held on defense with their athletic/build issues being disguised by blitzing/trapping and a mobile center that can easily hedge out and back on the PNR.
  12. The truth is, it's unlikely to ever fully work. Straight man isn't going to work if none of your players can fight over screens 100% of the time. The reason for this being a good defense was both a blessing and a risk, because they played Miami with LeBron like defense where they blitzed pick and rolls and trapped constantly, not because any of their players really were THAT athletic on the perimeter. Playing straight man with guys that aren't strong enough to fight over screens constantly or aren't that athletic is DESTINED TO FLOP. The only thing that would make this really a GOOD defense with Dwight is if everyone was EXTREMELY athletic on the perimeter, EXTREMELY.
  13. I don't go hard after Dennis at all, it's Kent that I do, but sorry, Dwight is being a whining baby since the break. Don't look at stats for him, look at what happens on court, he was just jogging around and really, on most of the WARM UP jump shots, he wasn't even playing defense, he just had his butt parked in the lane like he didn't care.
  14. Yes, the perimeter players need to play better defense, but nobody is ever going to be able to fight over screens 100% of the time. You're basically saying the Hawks need to have the following players to be a good team with Dwight: PG: Mike Conley SG: Danny Green SF: Kawhi Leonard As no one else will successfully fight over screens most of the time.
  15. Bud already tried doing defense that doesn't involve trapping and this team flopped horrendously at doing it. If this team continued to do non trapping defense, it'd already be a below .500 team. So that isn't the solution.
  16. Sorry but he's joined in on that group. Can't look at the stats for him, he gave minimal to no effort last night. His man may have well been on a practice court with how open their jumpers were all night.
  17. What's being ignored in this mediocre to bad run since the break is Dwight Howard has regressed to all of his bad tendencies. If his man isn't inside, he doesn't try on defense. If he doesn't get the ball at all on offense, he pouts. If he gets the ball on offense, it throws everyone out of sync. We're basically right back to where we were in November. We're very much in danger of another 1-10 stretch because of everyone being thrown out of sync if they play the "lets feed Dwight game".
  18. Nope. And sorry, but Dwight 100% deserves the bashing now. It was not as warranted before the break, now he is. He's been a pouting, whining BABY since the break.
  19. Dwight's being blamed because he allowed several WARMUP jumpers. Both Gasol's may well have been on a practice court the last two games, and then he was just jogging around outside of one stretch like he didn't give two sh**s.
  20. You can start Hardaway Jr if you have the ability to balance out defensively. The reason why it didn't really work when he was starting with Sefolosha out is because Bazemore is an overrated defender. He can't really help balance out with Millsap. Either way, unless Howard is going to grow up and realize that he isn't what he was before and what he is now is a role player, it's not going to work with him. I will give some credit, Howard did drop some of his bad tendencies for a while but since Ilyasova has come to Atlanta, he's been pouty and generally ineffective. The perimeter players need to play better defense, but the modern NBA is stretchy big men. If you aren't one you have to be able to cover them.
  21. Heck, I can fix your boarding problem in the draft this year.
  22. With Dwight, this team is better at boards! but isn't good defensively or offensively lately. Get something, likely lose at least 3 more games because of it and not be a team that will be better in the playoffs either. I think we're finding out the answer for this team with trading sound play for more rebounding. It doesn't help because most of the team needs to have their hand held to score offensively. On a team that doesn't rely on ball movement, maybe Dwight fits but he doesn't fit this team. And he'll aggravate other teams unless he realizes he is a role player today.
  23. More and more, we're just seeing that Paul Millsap does not fit with Dwight. But the problem is, who does? That guy would have to be a 38-40% three point shooter with his playmaking skills. The offense just doesn't function with both together since the break. We can't just be asking for less Baze/Thabo, we have to also be asking for less Dwight.
  24. It's undeniable. Since the break the Hawks have been bad offensively with Howard in.
