  1. Thank you! I was going to make a very similar post. I find it amazing that some folks would rather have Tyronn Lue than Athony Johnson.
  2. It is said that Chris Hatcher is a backup plan we haven't completely pursued, yet. Will Muschamp is our #1 and it is a matter of our AD selling the board on him even though he played at UGA. *Jon Tenuta is off to Michigan to be the DC for Les Miles per ESPN.
  3. #1 - Better coaching. I'm not a basketball expert but I see teams with less overall talent do a whole lot better than us. Yes we don't have Dwight Howard or Lebron James but we have a lot more to compliment our best player. #2 - I wouldn't be against trading Marvin Williams while his value is probably pretty good. That's IF we are keeping Josh Smith. Smith still has too much in the toolbox to trade him unless for a proven stud. If we can resign Childress for just about MLE money I'd do it. Between $5-6M.... #3 - We BETTER not trade ending contracts for backup contracts like Luke Ridnour. You want $10M+ on backup PG's in Ridnour and Claxton? Law will be our starter in the future. Pay backup amounts for backup players. Having said that I wouldn't be against exploring a deal involving either Marvin or Josh Smith and Zaza for a proven big. Who is the question...
  4. Muschamp also has a degree from Auburn. Didn't Dooley come from Auburn and Dye from UGA? It happens. You bring up a good point however because I don't see hiring a UGA grad as something to unite our fan base which is numero uno on the list of priorities for our new HC. We'll see... Seemed like yesterday Muschamp was a done deal. Today after the firing GT has been contacted with some possible current Head coach possibilities. Stay tuned... We'll know within a week to two weeks at most. Tyrone Nix, South Carolina DC, is someone we are looking at as well.
  5. Tenuta is gone whether Gailey leaves or stays. He is disliked throughout the Athletic Department. Our top 2 candidates are Jimbo Fisher and Will Muschamp. Once the Gailey situation is sorted out, our AD Dan Radakovich will be moving swiftly for a replacement.
  6. He is toast without a doubt. You can't lose to the UGAggers 6 times in a row. I will say that next year is going to be a terror on whoever is coach because our schedule looks stout. We dropped Louisville and picked up Mississippi St. as our out of conference and now MSU looks better than Louisville. We also pick up FSU from the Atlantic. Away games are: UGA Virginia Tech Clemson Boston College UNC Home games: UVA MSU FSU Miami From what I'm reading here are two guys that are likely to be coaching GT next year: Will Muschamp (current Auburn DC) Jimbo Fisher (current FSU OC) They both have ties to LSU and our current Athletics Director. On a side note, I'm just glad I refrained from punching a particular mutt yesterday in the face when the entire game he was pulling his eyes sideways and mocking an Asian language. On top of that he was flirting with two girls half the game and one of them was clearly of Asian descent.
  7. Marvin got a hand full of leather on that last play.
  8. Congratulations on doubling your money. I'd be disappointed if we didn't win at least 40-42 games. Something is obviously wrong with the coaching as well as the mix of the players we have if we don't far surpass 31 wins.
  9. Wouldn't think twice about offering at least Josh Smith, Marvin Williams and Shelden Williams for Dwight. Law / JJ / Childress / Horford / Dwight Best young lineup in the NBA.
  10. Just wait to play the Grizzlies and let Law take him to school, do his homework and eat his lunch.
  11. Get out of Atlanta before 7.
  12. Acie will keep the Defense light years more honest than Speedy , AJ and to some degree even Lue although he can get hot from 3-land.
  13. To be honest, shooting is my last concern with Acie Law. He isn't a chucker but has the ability to get hot and put up serious points.
  14. Then they better be prepared to be mad as h*ll at a deal with Chicago. I would take Josh Smith alone over just about everything Chicago is offering. Ben Gordon has maxed his potential. He is a score-in-bunches combo guard off the bench who will command $10+M next year. Tyrus Thomas is about the same age as Josh Smith (maybe a year younger) and isn't nearly as good. I wouldn't trade Josh Childress for Joakim Noah right now. To be honest, I wouldn't trade Marvin Williams for Ben Gordon. My Kobe offer would be: Marvin / JSmith / Shelden / Claxton for Kobe / MEvans / big Look at what Dallas is likely offering: Josh Howard / Jason Terry / Devin Harris Josh Howard is a player I like BUT he is what he is. He is a 2nd or 3rd scorer on a good team who can get to the FT line and play with energy. Terry doesn't have much value, IMO, because he has to be playing with other good players to make a positive contribution. Devin Harris still has potential and would be a good fit for a rebuilding team like the Lakers (assuming they trade Kobe). So here are the deals: Howard/JT/Harris Gordon/Noah/Thomas/Nocioni Marion/Barbosa/ATL 08' 1st JSmith/Marvin/Shelden/Speedy I believe Marion can opt out after next year. He will likely command close to $20M. Definitely not worth much more than half that. I like Barbosa in a Ben Gordon-like role and the Atlanta pick certainly could have value. Lakers aren't going to be a contender when they trade Kobe. They should make a deal for pieces that can grow with Crittenton/Bynum. They could play big: Javaris Crittenton Marvin Williams Lamar Odom Josh Smith Andrew Bynum
  15. Would rather send all 3 of Childress, Smith and Marvin before those two. Horford is going to be a VERY valuable piece. We need players that know how to play. Horford is that.
  16. In theory, yes, but in this case it doesn't matter because Kobe has to accept the trade. If he doesn't want to come to Atlanta, we could offer Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Marvin Williams and it still wouldn't matter. On a personal note, I'd love to make an offer just so I know that we are REALLY committed to winning. Marvin Williams would obviously be a center piece of a trade and, IMO, he is as valuable as Ben Gordon who is strictly a combo guard who is going to demand $10+M. Are sides that we offer as good as Noah and Thomas, though? I think Childress and Smith both are way better than either of them but it would only matter if Lakers agreed.
  17. If you want to set up a new one for other HSers who didn't make the cut for the first I'd be game to join. Just post a link in this threat with the ID# and password.
  18. Definitely keeping Joe. I'm coming around to the idea that if Josh Smith wants much more than $50-55M than it might not be a bad idea. He is just a fan favorite, hometown kid. Love the energy and shotblocking ability. Speedy Claxton Marvin Williams Zaza Pachulia Josh Childress (or Josh Smith) Anthony Johnson for Kobe Bryant Maurice Evans (or Ronny Turiaf) Both work on RealGm. ------------------------------------------------ Either: Law / Lue Kobe / Stoudamire Joe / Evans Smith / Jones Horford / Shelden / Wright or Law / Lue Kobe / Childress / Stoudamire Joe / (Childress) Horford / Jones Turiaf / Shelden / Wright Wow... Law / Kobe / JJ / Hoford / Turiaf would be pretty sick
  19. Marvin Williams would be my primary bargaining piece. Doesn't seem like much but I'm too excited about this team to break it up. I just couldn't pull the trigger on Joe, Smith or Childress right now and I'm definitely not moving Law/Horford. Speedy Marvin Zaza Shelden Stoudamire Those are really the only guys I would deal but obviously LA wouldn't take that. Oh well...
  20. I don't know all the law, etc., behind this BUT as a Falcons fan I'm ecstatic. $20M is A LOT of money to improve the team. We could get some much needed depth at CB, DT and OL to name a few. Any FA's that you guys want us to go after this coming winter/spring?
  21. Where can I find video highlights of the Orlando game?
  22. I agree but keep in mind that Josh knows the fans love him and appreciate his energy. He's really the face of our franchise even though Joe is our best player.
  23. Looks like Mario West is practicing with the team in those photos. Maybe that just has to do with them going to Georgia Tech to run.
  24. Zaza, Solomon, Marvin and Josh Smith in that picture. *Is that Tony Delk practicing with the team? I wouldn't mind ridding ourselves of Salim and picking up a veteran combo guard.
  25. He couldn't get a Rashard deal even if a team was willing to offer.
