    Ron Artest

Would anyone be interested in a deal based on Marvin for Ron? Is there a coach out there that could contain Ron? Bibby/Joe/Artest/Smith/Horford would be a killer team
  2. Carter and JO are not stars anymore. They fill stat sheets. They do not help teams win ball games.
  3. I don't see Detroit moving Prince as he is really their only established quasi-young player. HOWEVER I'd love to get him. I'd offer a package surrounding Marvin for him. Whether they'd accept that is another story.
  4. I think one of Marvin Williams or Josh Smith as to go (preferrably Marvin obviously). We can't afford Marvin next year so we might as well get something for him. Don't know if I'm ready to pay Josh Smith $70M if that is indeed his market. If Michael Redd's contract wasn't so big I would have wanted us to make an offer for him yesterday.
  5. Mike Bibby/Marvin Williams for Michael Redd/Charlie V We are taking on A LOT of salary from Milwaukee PLUS giving them good players. We should get a premium in return. Having Charlie V as a RFA will also give us more value in sign-and-trades next offseason. I don't know if I'm ready to have over $30M in our SG/SF BUT I'd imagine Marvin Williams would get close to $10M so for $5-6M more you are getting an allstar caliber player. Acie Law Michael Redd Joe Johnson Josh Smith Al Horford We need some more muscle but that team would be able to LIGHT it up once Law got settled.
  6. I think 'in the building' is referring to one of 3 things: 1. There is a new legitimate candidate in general 2. The ASG isn't ready to appoint Chris Grant yet 3. The other candidate is literally in Atlanta as we speak interviewing
  7. Bibby/Marvin for BDiddy/Azubuike, where do I sign? Davis/Law Johnson/Childress Azubuike/Childress Smith/Anderson/Jones Horford/Zaza I don't think GS does it, though. I started Azubuike just b/c Childress seems to have a place off the bench. That team still needs a veteran PG/shooter off the bench and a veteran big man.
  8. Gerald Wallace is really the only player I have interest in from Charlotte. I wouldn't mind Okafor if he were healthy and it didn't cost what he'll ask for as a FA. If there were some way to get Gerald Wallace for Marvin Williams and Zaza I'd be all about it. Wallace would be a GREAT player to get if we lose Josh Smith, especially. I'd still like to see us get something for Mike Bibby before he becomes a FA.
  9. I'd do it, although I don't think it is possible because you can't sign and trade players along with another player.
  10. Where do I sign? Josh Howard is exactly the player I've been wanting. Plays hard, plays defense and can shoot out to the 3-point line. Bibby/Johnson/Howard/Smith/Horford is a sick lineup
  11. Point being? Here are my TWO points: 1. If we had Chris Paul we would have won enough games to fall below Portland at pick #7 (therefore missing out on Roy) 2. With Paul (with or without Roy), JJ, Smith and Childress we would have not sniffed anywhere near getting Al Horford in the draft last year. Would I like to have Paul for Marvin right now? Heck yea but you can't use that logic.
  12. I agree with you 100%. We certainly have players that have value around the league but they might have more value to us. Josh Childress must be kept. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If we can someone move Zaza's contract off to a team needing a big for an expiring, we can afford both Childress and Smith no problem. Zaza/Lue/AJ/Wright = roughly $14M I'd consider bringing AJ back for a minimum vet deal if he was willing. We still need a veteran for practice and occassional game situations. Out of the core, Marvin Williams is really the only player I'd 'consider' moving and it would have to be a nice offer. His mid-range jumper is beautiful but sometimes it seems like that is all he is on the court where others he is dunking, driving, blocking a shot, etc.
  13. Butler is a PLAYER. Has he been resigned?
  14. Josh Childress MUST be retained and for the right price, Marvin is a piece that could be replace, IMO.
  15. Did you forget to add the unprotected 1st rounder to Mike Miller or something?
  16. Better yet, why would we make it harder for ourselves to resign our young players just so we can add depth with players that are overpaid and have never won anything? 76ers could offer Josh Smith a maximum contract as well as AI2 something similar if we did that trade.
  17. I'll be pissed if we trade Josh Smith for Pau Gasol. Bottomline.... Not a good way to improve your relationship with the fanbase. Regardless of how much money Josh will sign for this offseason, it won't be quite as much as Gasol is making.
  18. Would love to get Jack if at the right price. Not sure if I'm ready to give up Childress. Childress plays a crucial role for us doing just about everything off the bench except for guard bigs. I'd consider a deal based around Shelden or Zaza for Jack, however. I'm still trying to gauge what type of value Zaza and Shelden have. Looking at Portland's roster, they clearly lack depth at PF/C with Oden out for the year. Zaza/Salim for Jack/Jones (James) works but I don't think Portland goes for that. I'd do the same deal with Shelden instead of Zaza but I don't think Portland goes for that either.
  19. I just don't understand the infatuation with Luol Deng. I would have done Deng/Gordon/Wallace for Kobe YESTERDAY. Think about they money they are SAVING from not giving Deng/Gordon extensions and getting out of Big Ben's contract. The 3 of them combined will be making about $35M next season with their extensions. Kobe only makes, what, $20M? Hinrich / Kobe / Nocioni / Tyrus / Noah Bench: Duhon/Thabo/PJ PLUS money to make a move for a post player in the offseason.
  20. In his defense, he scores a bulk of his points on jumpshots so he kind of takes himself out of opportunities for offensive rebounds that Smith, Childress or Horford might get. On Defense I find him guarding wings that can shoot the 3 more than guarding, say a Chris Bosh or Shawn Marion. That's at least from the little I actually pay attention to him in particular on defense.
  21. I think about these issues pretty regularly as a matter of fact. That's why sometimes I am a fan of trading a larger quantity of good pieces for a real good piece. I have a hard time believeing that we can resign all 3 of Marvin and both Joshes. It would be great if we lucked out and Speedy retired. The money between that and the expirings of Lue, AJ and Wright would almost be enough to resign both Joshes. Zaza's deal will be expiring when we are up to pay Marvin. That $4M or so plus the caphold that Marvin will already represent will probably be 'close' to what Marvin will command. Isn't he already making like $5M or so? I assume Marvin will command about what Josh Smith does. (In the 5 year 60M range) By the time Marvin and moreso Horford/Law are up for extensions the cap will probably be in the $60's I'd imagine. I'd love to see us do a move involving either Zaza or Shelden for a future pick and expiring deals.
  22. If he retired the money that Josh Smith would count against the cap with his new contract would likely be equivalent to what Speedy, Lue and Josh's current salary are combined. I can handle that. So we could in fact (assuming Childress gets in the $6M range) stay under the fact after resigning both Smith and Childress since Wright and AJ will give us about another $6M off the cap.
  23. Any subtle changes will be done using Zaza, Shelden and/or Stoudamire. I'd really like to keep Childress although I could see us doing a Sign-and-trade with him if he really wants a chance to start.
