  1. You're right. I'm not talking about moving up to the top 10 for him. I mean if we like him in workouts moving up a couple of spots. We need an aggressive SF that can shoot and attack. If that isn't him then nevermind. I do like Pondexter, though.
  2. Where do I sign? The team we have now is not going to go further then we've already gone. Rebuild with Turner/Horford. Leaders, heady players that will win games. Brand's contract is an albatross but, in my opinion, it is worth it to get a more than capable replacement for Joe. If Joe's contract starts at about what he is making now, we'll have to throw in a little bit more in terms of salary, I believe. Maybe Zaza... Or expand the trade>>> Joe/Smith/Bibby for #2/Brand/Dally/LouWill Teague/LouW Turner/Crawford Childress/Marvin Horford/Brand Dalembert +#24 Crawford/Dalembert are $20 million in expirings. Next line of business is finding a home for Marvin and getting some of that money back.
  3. Honestly, never really thought of hanging onto Dampier. Considering FA is after the draft, my hope for turning Dampier into a high draft pick doesn't make a whole lot of chronological sense. I wouldn't be completely disapointed if we did the aforementioned deal and just hung onto Dampier til February when we'll deal both he and Crawford in a trade to bring us an a big name player unless the cap space can bring us something better. I'm also pushing Bibby to Lakers for Vujacic. February would be nothing short of insane for the Hawks if we had Crawford/Dampier/Butler/Vujacic. That's over $35 million in expiring contracts. We could acquire some serious talent and draft picks from teams looking to shed salary. Our team would need a star, though. What's a star on a team that isn't likely competing? Roddy/Teague Crawford/Vujacic Butler Smith/Zaza Horford/Dampier This is where we sit after the trade. That team is absolutely terrible but flexible moving forward. I would really push Smith/#24 in a way to get Derrick Favors. Move forward with Roddy/Teague, Childress, Favors, Horford plus $30+ million to spend. It's rebuilding time...
  4. Would much rather have Butler but I figured taking Marion's contract was kind of offsetting them taking Marvin's. Having Butler and Crawford's expirings would be wonderful while ridding ourselves of Marvin's. If Roddy/Dampier/Butler for Johnson/Marvin were offered, I wouldn't even have to think about it. I'm pretty confident either Teague or Roddy will turn out to be a good PG. Next would be to trade Dampier for a way into this draft and a starting quality player with a short contract.
  5. Anyone know about the San Antonio assistant Budenholzer?
  6. Sign me up on that deal Diesel if what is said about Beubois is true. If that's the case, however, I don't see Dallas giving him up. Take it a step further, what do we get for Dampier? Then we try and bring back Childress.
  7. Would rather keep Smith, honestly. Is Jefferson any different than a Zack Randolph type player? Great offense. No defense or intangibles that help the team.
  8. I have to agree, that team isn't going to do much. Too many role players that can't be go-to players.
  9. JJ/Smith/Bibby for Dirk/Dampier/Kidd and you have yourself a deal. This assumes Dirk would sign an extension (which he probably wouldn't). Kidd would be a much better mentor for Teague than Bibby could ever hope to be. Dirk would give us a true #1 offensive player and Dampier could be re-dealt for another very good asset. Dampier/Marvin/#24 to Utah for AK47/Miles/#9 This would allow them to comfortably resign Boozer, Matthews and Korver. Paul George, Xavier Henry, or best SG/SF at #9. Kidd/Teague Miles/Crawford AK47/George Dirk Horford/Zaza Sign me up.
  10. I'd love to move up and nab Paul George. If not, Quincy Pondexter intrigues me.
  11. No way we give Haywood, who is known as Brenda and on the wrong side of 30, $10 per year over 3 years to be a backup. As far as the trade, no thank you unless Dampier gives us some SERIOUS assets in return. No reason to take on the last year of Stevenson's deal.
  12. Smith for Udrih / Landry / #5 >>> Only if Favors or Cousins falls
  13. haha... JJ/Marvin for Dirk... cheers
  14. JJ/Marvin for Dampier/Butler/Haywood My problem with Haywood is that he is going to command considerably more money than he is worth. I'd honestly rather just do JJ/Marvin for Dampier/Butler and the difference be in a TPE. Question... What could Dampier's contract get us? I want a starting quality player with no more than a 2 year contract and a top 10 pick. :) Draft either Paul George, Xaxier Henry or the BPA at SG/SF.
  15. If only Josh Smith could net us Derrick Favors. I would do that trade 8 days a week.
  16. You can do both. If JJ leaves and we receive little in the form of salary in return then we'd have no problem being able to afford Childress. Harden was more of a best-case-scenario. I don't see us getting a top 5 pick from a year ago. I do like his ability to play a team game and hit the 3. Who can we pawn Bibby/Marvin off on?
  17. If we can get a player like Harden, Lee or a similar solid, capable starter to go with a trade exception, I'd be very happy. Does anyone have a rundown off the top of their heads of trades made involving the TPE? I'm curious how much value that brings.
  18. Harsh or not, I want Avery Johnson to get a shot if he wants it.
  19. Sign-and-trade time. JJ to OKC for Harden/Collison/#21? Maybe Joe would consider OKC with a chance to be the best PG/SG/SF group in the league with Westbrook / JJ / Durant. ...to NJ for Lee/Yi//Dooling/#26? This preserves some of their cap space. I think getting a young SG/SF prospect, along with expirings and a late draft pick would be nice. Ideas?
  20. I'm not sure how to apply a draftpick's salary in a trade. Take out Humphries or Dooling and that should make it just right; assuming the #3 pick makes between 3-4 in his first year.
  21. NJ has cap room so it doesn't have to match up perfectly. Good question, I don't know if I'd accept it. Harris/Lee/TWill/Smith/Lopez with 20 million to spend is appealing, however.
  22. After what I've read about Alabi, I may consider him in the 2nd. Quincy Pondexter, Damion James, James Anderson and Dominique Jones all interest me greatly. I think Quincy Pondexter would be a perfect fit for a playoff team. He was IT for Washington. The unanimous leader of that squad.
  23. Josh Smith for Dooling/Yi/Humph and #3 (Derrick Favors)
  24. That's just too much for him. I'm exhausting all sign-and-trades now...
  25. If we could get Evan Turner, Joe Johnson is gone. We would look at sign-and-trades. I would see if he would be interested in going to Dallas and then parlay Dampier's non-guaranteed for some more assets.
