  1. Absolutely. Kaman and Foye would both come off the books after this coming season saving us about $15M of Marvin's deal. If we could find a way to shed JJ's contract we could be in a good financial position. Honestly, I would not mind starting over.
  2. Any chance Minnesota would bite on JJ? JJ/Future 1st for Webster/Tolliver/Ridnour/#2? Then..... Smith/Teague/Hinrich/Marvin for Paul/Okafor/Jack works cap-wise. Paul/Jack/Ridnour ???? DWilliams/Webster Horford/Tolliver Okafor/Zaza Then move either Jack or Ridnour for a backup SG.
  3. A trade involving Smith/Teague/Marvin for Paul/++ would be ideal. If New Orleans would take Joe instead of Smith, that would be ideal but not likely. Hmm....maybe if we go all out for Paul then he might be able to encourage Howard to come? If Howard wanted to come, Orlando wouldn't find a better sign-and-trade offer than Al Horford.
  4. I feel like we could do better? Compared to what others players are signing for, that is a bargain for Childress. He is making less than Marvin. That right there is ridiculous.
  5. We do that yesterday but would Charlotte? That is a lot of money to commit to. Maybe Marvin/Zaza for Tyson would be more attractive to them.
  6. No on Jamison. He is owed big money for 2 years and wouldn't start over Smith or Horford. My trade is: Childress (S&T) / Bibby / Evans for Shaq (2 year deal) / Moon / West (Immediately waived to offset increased payroll) THEN! (Fantasy land) Smith / Marvin / JCraw for Paul / Okafor / JWright Paul / Teague Johnson / JoCraw ??? / Moon / Wright Horford / Zaza Okafor / Shaq
  7. The more I think about it, I pass on Mo Williams. He has 3 years left on his deal for money I don't think he is worth to our team.
  8. If the only assets we give up is a combination of Childress, Marvin and Bibby and we get back Mo and/or Shaq, I am all for it.
  9. I definitely think we considerably overspent here. Millions and millions overspent. 5 years, 80 million seems fair for Joe but if it took him more to resign, so be it. The one way I can get behind this deal is if we aggressively make a move for another star to go with him. I feel that Josh Smith and Jamal Crawford as a package could possibly net us something pretty significant. An affordable, dynamic player in Josh + a huge productive expiring with Jamal. I'm on the phone with the Denver Nuggets right now concerning Carmelo Anthony. See if Carmelo would agree to an extension knowing that he'd be playing with Joe Johnson, Al Horford, Kenyon Martin + some young guys in Jeff Teague and Jordan Crawford. Smith / Crawford / Marvin / Evans for Anthony / KMart This isn't likely but there has to be a Pau Gasol type deal out there.
  10. Hopefully, you are correct but the deal is JJ/(Bibby or Marvin) for Butler/Dampier
  11. Recent rumor that Denver is interested in Andris Biedrins but doesn't have the proper contracts to send back could possibly benefit Atlanta. To Denver: Andris Biedrins - Marvin Williams To Golden St: Mike Bibby - Mo Evans To Atlanta: Kenyon Martin Denver takes on salary but comes out on top talent wise. Golden St. saves millions over the life of Biedrins deal. Atlanta gets a huge expiring contract that will help swallow Joe's contract and Horford's pending raise. Having Martin's contract allows us to move Crawford's expiring if the right deal came along. This also opens up a spot for Josh Childress to return at SF.
  12. If Denver decides to rebuild and the teams with cap space use it up, here is my offer: Josh Smith (Significant core piece) Marvin Williams (Young role player) Jamal Crawford (Expiring productive player) Mo Evans (Expiring bench player) for Carmelo Anthony (Extended) Kenyon Martin (Expiring) Assuming the unfortunate reporting of us offering Joe the max is true and he accepts... Teague/Bibby Johnson/JoCraw Anthony/ ------- Horford/Martin ------- /Zaza I'd rather sign-and-trade Joe to Dallas, Houston or... whomever really.
  13. Spotatl- I see what you are saying and typically would agree but I don't consider Beasley and Chalmers 'assets'. They are just salary. I don't think Wade/Bosh/James is good for the NBA and as an NBA Exec I wouldn't assist in it happening. But that is my stubborness coming into play.
  14. I'd rather lose Bosh for nothing and defend from a possible dynasty than get players that will never even start for me.
  15. Toronto taking on trash to help Miami build a dynasty? Thanks Toronto.
  16. I was just wondering whether we could put together a package for Carmelo. Josh Smith Marvin Williams Jamal Crawford Mo Evans for Carmelo Anthony Kenyon Martin That works salary wise. Is that enough? Denver runs Billups/JR/Marvin/Smith/Nene with Crawford/Lawson off the bench.
  17. I would take Caron/Damp/Future 1st for Joe + either Marvin or Bibby.
  18. I sure hope this is true. Dallas is the best team for JJ to work with as far as our interests are concerned. If we are committed to working with the players we have and staying in the playoffs then Dallas is our best bet. Joe for Damp/Roddy B is the most ideal trade. We get a young, upcoming player at a need position and an incredibly valuable trade asset.
  19. What about JJ/Evans to Houston for Scola resigned and Battier's expiring. Scola would become our PF/C super sub. Use Jamal Crawford / Marvin Williams / Mike Bibby to acquire us a capable SG that can play adequate defense. Teague/ ---- ---- / JoCraw Childress/Battier Smith/Scola Horford/Zaza
  20. Joe/Mo Evans for Martin/Battier
  21. As a big GT fan, I am thrilled for and surprised by the success Morrow has had at the NBA level. Having said that, he may be a good fit for GS but I don't think he is a $5+ million type player. He struggles with defense, athleticism and creating his own shot. I'd rather have Childress back.
  22. What teams are looking to shed payroll? That would give us an idea of what we could get in return.
  23. Dallas would be the best sign-and-trade team with Houston a close 2nd. Joe/Marvin for Roddy B/Dampier/Butler .... haha
  24. I sure hope this is a poker move to get some sign-and-trade talk going. Not giving Joe Johnson big money is in the best interest of our team long term.
  25. The initial post was assuming Bosh was going to Houston if Houston could pair him with another all-star.
