  1. I appreciate the compliments. Unfortunately, I am not the one that actually gets to make the deals. I would imagine the only way Toronto would entertain the idea is if Nash was on board and asked for help.
  2. I agree with this statement. Danny Ferry made the comment of "doing it right". Besides the Heat Superteam, what top team did not build their core parts through the draft? Horford is a core part. I am not sold on Teague as a starting PG on a championship team, but he has value. Marvin/Josh/Joe will need to be moved (for different reasons) before we can truly make leaps towards building that "culture".
  3. Thank you, Walter. To be honest, I want Joe gone so bad that I would do the deal without the #8. I want to move forward, and the only way to do that is to take a step back. We are just good enough that we will never get a high draftpick nor will we ever have the cap flexibility to sign an actual #1 player.
  4. That would be too good to be true. Joe/#23 for Calderon/#8/filler should retain enough cap for them to sign Nash. How about trade Josh for another top pick? We would become the drivers in this draft.
  5. This is our chance to improve our long-term opportunities. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/221672/Nash_To_Raptors_Rumors_Gaining_Momentum If Nash signs with Toronto, they will probably want to add some talent around him. Calderon is a fairly large expiring contract.Could we send them Joe? Nash/Joe/DeRozan/Bargs/Jonas
  6. This would certainly be better than losing Josh for nothing, but I don't see why Chicago would do it. Smith and Boozer?
  7. Goodness gracious, sign me up for this deal. I would do Jeff Teague/Josh Smith/#23 for Tyreke/#5. I don't see SAC doing it, though.
  8. I thought that might get some attention. A starting PG, #8 pick, and a huge expiring is pretty good value. I really hope you are right that there are much better deals out there, and that this deal is what you should expect for Big Baby or 'Psycho'.
  9. Josh SmithJeff TeagueZaza PachuliaforKyle LowryKevin Martin#14....orAtlanta gets: Lowry/Calderon (BU PG)/James Johnson/#8Houston gets: Smith/Teague/Pachulia/#23Toronto gets: Martin/#14Lowry/Calderon (expiring)JoeMarvin/JohnsonHorford#8 and #43
  10. Taylor, Lamb, and White are my choices at #23, too.
  11. Hawks are not set at any position. We need the best player available. DavisRobinsonBealBarnesMKGDrummondLillardWe would get one of the players listed above. I would like to see MKG or Drummond fall. Lillard (or even Meyers Leonard) is a player we should have to consider.
  12. Marshall was the guy I had in mind at #14, too. I think my willingness to move Teague has to do with the fact that I am not sure how much I would offer him as a RFA. He is our guy? If not, we can find backup PGs for less than what he will probably cost. #16 could be Sullinger, Leonard, Ross, Harkless, Taylor, etc.
  13. I understand this concern. I assumed we would have to replace Toronto's PG. My thoughts were that the next move would be trading Josh Smith to lock up one of the guard spots. Sign a free agent or move down from #8 if our guy isn't there. We would choose from Drummond, Beal, Lamb, or maybe Ross at #8. We could also try to trade down from #8 for #14 and #16. DavisMKGBarnesTRobinsonDrummondBealLambLillardOne of the above will be available at 8.
  14. I would be ecstatic to find out that SAC and HOU are interested in Smith. SAC has the #5 pick and can absorb some salary, and HOU has Lowry, Martin (large expiring), and #14/#16. Those are wonderful assets.
  15. ATL/TOR:Teague/Joe for Calderon/James Johnson/#8This trade puts Toronto in the playoffs, but uses all of their capspace. This move saves us about $5M this year, and many millions over the coming years. Would Toronto do it? No clue, but they are somewhat desperate for an 'all-star'.
  16. We would absolutely do that deal. Would they? I don't think so. I am in support of any trade that moves Joe Johnson and returns at least one significant contract in its last year. You would have to add Zaza to make the salaries work.
  17. I would trade Joe Johnson to Toronto WITHOUT the #8 coming back. I would be psyched if that happened. I would not, however, use any of our money on Nick Young or Chris Kaman. After Toronto rejects a Joe for #8/Calderon/James Johnson, I would offer Joe for #8/Calderon/Kleiza. I would consider adding Teague if they would keep Kleiza and add James Johnson. IF we could somehow move Marvin, we might be a big player in the 2013 free agency. At #8, we take whoever is left between: Drummond, Beal, MKG, and Lamb. I am intrigued by Ross.
  18. IF we don't plan on using Josh Smith as part of a bigger deal for a star caliber player....Toronto has publicly stated that they would like a proven player for their #8 pick. In addition, they also have a huge trade exception (not sure that matters since they are under the cap). The following trade works in the ESPN trade checker:Josh SmithMarvin Williamsfor2012 #8 PickJames JohnsonJose Calderon (Expiring)We save roughly $7-8 million in this deal.Teague/CalderonJoeJohnsonHorford /ZazaWe would have the #8 and #23 pick to go with a little flexibility to use our exceptions.
  19. Josh Smith for Thompson/Jefferson/#7 ... DealWe would have to move Marvin, though. Rebuild with Horford/Thompson/#7/#23/Teague (possibly)Teague/Thompson/Johnson/JeffersonHorford/ /Zaza
  20. Can I watch the game online?
  21. I agree, Walter. Hibbert seems solid but overpaying for a center is too often done. I do like the sound of a young George.
  22. Hibbert? Max? I would rather just keep Smith. JJ/Hibbert with maximum contracts would equal the worst contract combination in the history of sports (competing with Eddie Jones and Brian Grant with Miami).
  23. I agree. Maybe some teams will be interested in acquiring him if he keeps it up.
