Is there any chance we used the LLE instead of the MLE? I was hoping we still had the 3.3 available for the right big if a deal came along.
  2. If you look very closely at the picture you will see the camera mast shadow is actually Marvin sitting next to a rock eating bon bons reading a Buck Rogers comic book...Veeeerrryyy Interesting....
  3. I think the bigman we sign will be more of a power forward than center. Solo is the only 4/5 type we have as a backup and I question his ability to defend the 4 spot against quick 4's. I think Marvin won't spend any time at the 4 simply because Chillz is gone to back up the 3 spot. I don't think either Morris or Zaza can guard the 4 spot at all. They are both slow footed traditional centers. I hope we go after a thick bodied banger or a guy that can step outside and his a jumper. I won't be surprised at all to see Hunter make the team and be the backup 4.
  4. If we assume Solo is going to be on the team that gives us 4 guys that are centers in Horf, Zaza, Solo and Morris. Regardless of the debate on Horfs natural position he is going to spend almost all of his time at the 5. I don't think any of the other guys can effectively guard any of the quicker 4's around the league. All this leads me to believe that we may focus on a strong bodied or a shooting power forward for our last signing.

I thought I remembered something also but did a few searches and couldn't find anything...Though many thousands of Murrays seem to get arrested according to Google..lol All and all I like this move. This is the kind of signing that will win us a game or 2 as he gets hot off the bench.

I guess its hard for Speedy to "shrink" as he is watching on the bench in a suit or from his living room.
  8. I went back and watched some Kentucky vs Florida games where Morris was playing against Noah and Horford. I am being completely honest when I say Morris clearly looked like the most talented bigman on the floor. Offensively he was much better around the basket than Noah or Horf. I watched some of the old clips of Morris vs Howard back in highschool and Morris looked every bit as good as Howard at that point. I am not saying Morris is going to be as good as Howard or even Horf but I am saying that if he works hard and keeps his mind right this guy can be a pretty good center. He made a bad choice to play for Tubby Smith who has a system that doesn't let individual talent shine. Morris made an even bigger mistake going to the Knicks playing for an idiot like Isiah and being stuck on the bench behind guys like Curry and Randolf. Morris is a guy with the reputation of being a chameleon. He sort of adapts his work ethic and personality to those around him so obviously the Knicks were a horrible match for him. Coming home to Atlanta and playing with guys like Horford, JJ and Bibby, along with an intense guy like Smoove who is a close friend may be the recipe for Morris to finally play up to his talent. Just watching his talent makes me think the Hawks may have found a diamond in the rough.
  9. As many factual errors as Sekou makes regarding the 1 team he is supposed to know everything about I just find it hard to believe he is attempting to call someone else out about a mistake.. The more Sekou writes the less respect I have for his abilities.
  10. Since we didn't even have JJ when we drafted Marvin the whole topic is sort of silly. All it does is reinforce the fact BK and Woody don't have a clue.
  11. Yes I think having Bibby for the entire season is worth 7 or 8 more wins. Add that to the maturing of Horf, Smoove and Marvin and I think we are a 45 win team.
  12. What a great blessing it would be if Morris just came on strong and became a good player. They Hawks never seem to get lucky like that but they sure are due.
  13. The Hawks didn't do anything last season until they brought in Bibby. I find it interesting to see everyone want him traded at the deadline. Acie hasn't proven jack squat and Speedy is a wet papertowel ready to fall apart.
  14. Morris is a very talented offensive player and a decent rebounder. His problems have stemmed from work ethic and immaturity.

    Chris Paul

I wanted Bogut or Paul and my old posts will confirm it. I just didn't see the need for yet another small forward.
  16. No, that is not what it means. If he were over 6'10 he would say he say he was closer to 6'11". A guy is not going to round his height down. I heard an interview with Clyde Drexler when he was recruiting for the University of Houston talking about a recruits height. He was laughing about the old days when the PR department embelished the heights. He was listed as 6'8" when he was really 6'6" and Hakeem was listed at 7' when he was really 6'9".
  17. You can line a whole group up in street shoes and not be able to tell true heights. Hakeem was under 6'10".
  18. Hakeem was always listed as 7 feet tall but revealed late in his career he was barely 6'9". He just had the perfect makeup and determination to play in the post.
  19. Dirk has been a top 10 type of player in the NBA for the last 8 or 9 years. He has led his team to the playoffs every year and to the finals once. Granted the Mavs didn't win it all but its hard to question Dirks career. I wish he had been a Hawk.
  20. Post after post is made to try to switch Smoove to the 3 and Horf to the 4. Am I the only one here who thinks Horf is a 5 and Smoove is a 4? Horf is 6'10" and 250 and played the center spot very well for us all last year as a rookie. Smoove is 6'9" nearing 240 and had a career year at the 4. I think it would be very silly to yank these young guys around for anything other than substitutional situations. To me both guys lose their advantages with any switch. Smoove and Horf both have quickness and athletic edges on most of their opponents. Move them down and they lose that. Both guys might be a touch on the small side for their positions but its not like they are 6'5". They are both as big as many guys that have played their respective positions very well. Bill Russell, Moses Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Alonzo Morning are all 6'10" or less centers and were all dominant in their careers. Carl Malone, Dennis Rodman, Charles Barkley, and even present day guys like Elton Brand are all dominant power forwards that are 6'9" or less. I think we need to leave Horf and Smoove where they are and let them continue to develope.
  21. I would rather take a chance on Maglorie than Lo or any other old center. At least Maglorie has had some success in the past.. I still think a shooting big guy like Fazekus would be a good fit also to spread the floor with Smoove and Horf.
  22. I don't know about Solo. After 2 full seasons he still seems like a project. With Morris already signed I think we have our big man project for the next couple of years. I want a big guy that can step out and hit an 18 footer or a bruiser.
  23. Kudos to Sund and the ASG on Smoove. They gambled on won. ON Chillz they gambled and lost. All and all I think Mo Evans gives they Hawks more than Chillz did. He plays the position the way it is supposed to be played where Chillz was basically an interior guard.
