  1. This is the deal that I prefer. Golden State's offer impacts our cap too much, especially over the next couple of years when we will need it to keep our nucelus together. I was wondering is it possible to just trade Al for Foster and Indy's 1st. Can the 7.5 million exemption they have make it happen. I'm really hoping BK is waiting to pick up a 1st for next year.

    Appeals Date?

Do anyone have any idea how long it is going to take before the case come up for appeal? I read on RealGM/ message board that it will take at least 18 months. That's an awful long time to be handcuffed and I pray it isn't true.
  3. In an attempt to get this thread back on the subject, do anyone know when the appeal is supposed to be heard?
  4. I'm glad he isn't interfering with Claxton's deal, but I wonder how this affects a sign and trade with Al. Is this going to force us to let Al walk for nothing or is it ok to go ahead with a deal that BK already has planned, but hasn't announce.
  5. Quote: The No. 21 pick During Wednesday's draft Phoenix used one of the draft picks the Hawks had to give up in the Joe Johnson deal from last summer. The Suns took Kentucky point guard Rajon Rondo with the 21st pick but traded it later to Boston to ease their salary cap burden with so many current players in line for new contracts or extensions. The Hawks owe the Suns their first-round pick in the 2007 draft if it's not a top-three selection. This is the best news for me. I guess I was confused as to what picks we owed Phoenix. I thought that we owed Phoenix another pick after next year. I'm happy that one of them is out of the way. On another note, some members of this board has dogged BK for not trading cash for Rondo, this just backs up my argument that it would have made no sense for Phoenix to give us our pick back.
  6. I'm not arguing against trying to pickup their pick, but I don't see the logic for Phoenix, in helping a team to improve that owes them 2 future first round pick. Despite the fact that I want to create cap space, there were other teams available to deal with. I couldn't justify helping to weaken those future draft picks, by addressing the Hawks needs for them. I will also not say that BK used this rationale when he bypassed the opportunity.
  7. The answer to this one is easy. Why would Phoenix do anything to help us improve when they get our 1st round pick next year(outside of top 3)? We already stand to improve somewhat, with the guys we have. It isn't in their best interest to assist us.
  8. If we can pick up Pittsnogle as an undrafted FA, I believe that would help us alot. it would give us another big, plus a scorer to help replace what we lose when Al leaves. BK needs to move quickly on that one. Do anyone have any insight on Gerry Mcnamara, PG out of Syracuse. He avg 16 pts,5.9 assists during his senior year. Other than his FT%, his other numbers aren't that impressive, which is probably why he went undrafted. Is there any other potential guard help out there through undrafted FAs?
  9. Man Law!!! I thought the law was to borrow tools for a long enough period, you actually believe it yours and then you lend it back the original owner. I have lost several tools that way.
  10. I was thinking of any other possible outcomes of our situation. MLB bought the Expo's until they found a suitable owner, is it possible for Stern and the NBA to buy the Hawks for the betterment of the league. Is that farfetched? Do Stern still have to approve the sale to Belkin being a singular owner. I believe, I read something that states that recently, the NHL also. Stern already stripped him once, and the other owners has to be watching this, wondering what a Belkin ran team will cost them. Think about it, and bounce that around. Is there any chance that this can happen?
  11. I am beginning to wonder if anything will happen easily for our side. I was optimistic when the judge voluntarily stated that his ruling may be more like a restart to the process, which benefits everyone ,but Belkin. The longer he postpones announcing his ruling makes me wonder what Belkin is up to.
  12. "suggested that he conceivably could find "no harm, no foul" and attempt to restart the process from the point at which a breach allegedly occurred." I find some hope with the judge leaning more towards just going back to the appraisal deadlines. It will probably mean the NBA will select a third appraiser, but at least Belkin won't be allowed to steal the teams.
  13. Sorry about that, obviously I meant better ending.
  14. I took my son to see it this afternoon. It had him on the edge of his seat and made him jump a couple of times. He's only 10, but we both enjoyed it. I will probably add it to my home collection, even though I wanted a betted ending.
  15. I was thinking of Maggette mainly as a 2 guard. When I compared him head up to JJ using the table on NBA.com, their numbers are not that far apart, except for assists which goes to JJ. Given that he is a 2-3, I would still try to get him substituting Chillz and filler for the pick. Then we could pick Roy to help JJ in the backcourt. Getting Maggette would give us another bonafide scorer, in case Marvin and Smoove fail to improve their scoring.
  16. First off I wouldn't mind if we drafted Roy with the 5th pick. Picking up a solid defensive backcourt mate for JJ is just as important as picking up a big. We can address the need for a bigs with AL, our 2nd rounder and FA. Just for all of the naysayers on Roy and M. Williams, would you consider trading our 5th pick to the Clippers for Maggette. I like Maggette's game and he could be a good complement to JJ. They would be interchangable, with JJ mainly at the point. The Clippers don't really need him and thinking of trading him anyway. Maggette has 3 more years on his contract at around 7 million. We would still have a lot of cap room left to address the big positions and keep our core intact. All BK would need to do is ensure we get a quality big, back for AL.
  17. I'm not sure, but Bobby sat him right after an article about how lackadaisical his play has become lately. I'm not sure how he's doing in the hitting department.
  18. The only part I don't like about BK is he is so tight lipped, but I do understand the logic behind it. Against Babcock.....isn't he responsible for Koncak's contract and others like it. Babcock isn't that far away from Thomas when it comes to managing money.
  19. Here is an article from the AJC about how well BK believes we are doing: Hawks’ Knight doesn’t care what you think By Mark Bradley | Thursday, May 11, 2006, 06:24 PM You, being shallow and impatient, are going to read this and scoff. And Billy Knight, being cool in a way you’ll never be, is going to laugh at your skepticism. See, Knight doesn’t think you know enough to second-guess him. “I hear people on sports shows,” he says, “and I think that person has as much business talking about basketball as I do running the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.” You’d think a general manager whose team just doubled its win total and still finished with a better record than only two other NBA teams might be a tad less sure of himself. Sorry. Knight doesn’t do circumspection. He doesn’t care what you think of him or his Hawks. He thinks he’s doing a terrific job. And you? You’re simply too myopic to see it. “You have to give players time to mature. It’s the microwave age, but the world does not work instantly. If I could say one thing, it’s this: Everyone needs to relax.” As relaxation therapy, try listening to the GM without throwing the paper at the wall in disgust. Here’s Knight’s take on Mike Woodson, the coach he hired two summers ago: “He’s better than I thought he was… . I go to all the practices and all the games, and I know more about it than anybody else knows. That might sound like an egotistical statement, but I think I know more than anybody else.” On Chris Paul, the newly minted rookie of the year bypassed by the Hawks in the draft: “Chris Paul is a good player. He deserves to be rookie of the year - I voted for him. But we’re very happy with Marvin Williams. We think he’s going to be a heck of a player.” On Boris Diaw, whom Knight drafted in 2003 and traded to Phoenix last summer, whereupon he developed into the NBA’s most improved player: “Boris Diaw is in a good situation… . Boris is a very versatile player. He’s able to play [power forward] for them; whether or not he’d have been able to play it for us is a different story.” Here’s Knight on the upcoming draft, in which the watching world expects the Hawks to draft a point guard: “Guys are running around saying, ‘Point guard, point guard.’ But what if I don’t agree with that? … I find [such talk] a little humorous and entertaining.” For the record, Knight won’t rule out drafting yet another swingman. “I always take talent… . I like good basketball players, and there are a lot of 6-foot-8 players in the draft. And 6-8 is the ideal size.” Might the day arrive when the Hawks draft for a specific need? “There could come a time like that, but I’m not at that time.” Knight claims his goal is to be “the most laid-back guy in the world,” and he’s on track. Who else could be this sanguine while presiding over a team that has gone 39-125 over two seasons and hasn’t, in three drafts under Knight, picked a player who received even one third-place vote for rookie of the year? “I’m happy with where we are today,” he says. “We have a long way to go.” Does he expect the Hawks to make the playoffs next season? “I don’t say that. I say we should make improvement.” Does he believe his constituency supports such a measured approach? “Based on what I hear when I move about town, when I go to the movies or the grocery or when I take my daughter to the mall or when I’m getting gas, I think people can see we’re making improvement… . We’re in the second year of our process.” But what if down-the-road results don’t support such serenity? What if his supportive ownership gets as antsy as Sudden Steve Belkin? What it time runs out? “If it does, it does. I know this business. I’ve been around the world and made it back. There’s nothing I can do about that.” And you out there? What if you’re not willing to endorse such a glacial pace? What if you have issues with every player Knight has drafted? Then you, being borderline hysterical, need to let matters play out. “I never judge a guy after one year,” Knight says. “It’s too early to tell. You’ll see the difference in three years, as opposed to standing on your mountain on passing judgment.” You out there - take a deep breath. You’ll have your chance to vent. The NBA draft is only 47 days away.
  20. ESPN reported today that Wright has a torn rotator cup and will miss at least half of the season, if not all of it. The teams knew about it before the draft. Just wondering if you still would have taken him over Shockley, if we had that info.
  21. I would venture to trust that BK has the backing of the owners on this one. Think about it, who else would they possibly bring in? No seasoned coach, in their right mind would agree to come here, with the threat of Belkin hanging over their head. I know they could be signed to a long term contract, but Belkin would clean house of anyone brought in by the current regime. He would strip our team bare. Also, wasn't Woody signed to a three year deal. Given the improvement of the team he deserves to come back. As long we improve our inside game during the offseason, I believe we will make the playoffs. On another note, I want us to keep JJ and Grundy as our guards. Lue,Salim, and Ivey can all be included in a trade package with Al to improve our team. If Lue and Salim are back next year I won't complain, but Ivey should have played his last game.
  22. Thanks Chillz, I tried everything you suggested. It just bothered me that was the only site affected.
  23. Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else has had any problem accessing the AJC's website. I have tried it on three different computers over the past few days, in different locations and the same problem occurs. The page pops up, then it just locks up and stop responding. It is the only site that is doing this. As I live in western,TN it denies me of my daily dose of the ATL. I hope it gets fix soon though, the problem is beyond my scope.
  24. He is probably worried tha his worst nightmare will win. The Spirit really needs to win this round. They have been outhustled at every turn.
  25. Also, can someone explain why copying the link and pasting it, no longer establishes a hyperlink the way it use to. How do I fix the problem?
