  1. Thanks Troy...........caught the end of the game. Enjoyed the feed.
  2. JJ backed Woody up too. Not for planning an offensive game plan, but he told them what to do about neutralizing Jefferson: ""Really, it's on us as players. Because we didn't use the game plan we were given as far as taking Al Jefferson out of the game. He got them going. But in the second half we stuck to the game plan and well, 12 points in each quarter ... you can't get much better than that."
  3. Best wishes Sothron, I wasn't aware of the accident and will send a few up for you and your. I appreciate your posts....it brings up debate but that is the way with everything. Just choose the good ones and ignore the rest. Be blessed.
  4. I would do this trade for the Hawks because their statistics match up fairly closy. Wilkins would be our backup SG and I would imagine cost less than resigning Chillz. However, I don't think Seattle would do it because Chillz will be a RFA and cost more to sign, even though he may be a bigger draw on the west coast. Statistically it is pretty much a wash....Josh Childress 6-8 SG/SF 13.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 32.3 minutes and Damien Wilkins 6-6 SG/SF 16.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.5 apg in 33.5 minutes.
  5. I think Sheldon should be the enforcer....We need a tough guy from the 4spot.....I think he would be a natural at it. A landlord is suppose to be tough and protect the house anyway.

Hate to tell you this, but this will be the norm, especially if you meant Montgomery county
  7. when you get a chance check and see if you can view any Hawks game on NBA league pass. It is suppose to be free right now and delayed.....I tried and they have my area blacked out for not only the Hawks but also the Grizzlies games.

    About Al

Even on league pass(free),, they have my area blacked out for viewing the Hawks games.
  9. I know what your talking about, I'm currently in Clarksville. Ever since the Grizzlies and Predators came about I can't catch a Hawks game on FSN. For that matter, I shouldn't blame the Grizzlies but I will anyway. They just about always throw on a Predator game....or something else stupid. Charter always puts it off on the local station. I can't count the times I got prepped for a game only to be disappointed.
  10. Opportunity knocks on first day. Not that I'm suggesting a trade or anything, but too bad BK don't move as quickly when we are waiting on deals to happen. Here's the story: Tigers acquire Edgar Renteria from Atlanta Braves DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers announced today that the club has acquired shortstop Edgar Renteria from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for right-handed pitcher Jair Jurrjens and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez. "We are excited to add an all-star caliber shortstop in Edgar Renteria to the Tigers organization," Tigers President, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager David Dombrowski said. "Edgar is a quality player, proven winner and tremendous leader that solidifies our infield." Renteria batted .332 (164-for-494) in 124 games with the Braves in 2007, scoring 87 runs and collecting 30 doubles, 12 home runs and 57 RBIs. He tied for third in the National League with a .332 batting average. A veteran of 12 seasons at the Major League level with the Florida Marlins (1996-98), St. Louis Cardinals (1999-2004), Boston Red Sox (2005) and Braves (2006-07), Renteria has compiled a .291 batting average (1934-for-6637) in 1,722 games during his career. He has scored 1,021 runs during his Major League career, while he has collected 370 doubles, 24 triples, 117 home runs, 762 RBIs and 274 stolen bases. "Edgar is a premier Major League player that is a great fit for our club," Tigers Manager Jim Leyland said. "I have a great history with him and I'm looking forward to being reunited with him." Renteria has been named to the National League's All-Star squad five times during his career (1998, 2000, 2003-04, 2006). Additionally, he has won the Silver Slugger Award for National League shortstops three times (2000, 2002-03) and the Rawlings Gold Glove Award for NL shortstops twice (2002-03). Jurrjens started seven games for the Tigers in 2007, compiling a 3-1 record and 4.70 ERA (30.2IP/16ER). In 19 starts with Double-A Erie last season, Jurrjens finished 7-5 with a 3.20 ERA (112.2IP/40ER). Hernandez spent the entire 2007 season with Class A West Michigan and he batted .293 (141-for-481) with 84 runs scored, 25 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 50 RBIs and 54 stolen bases in 124 games. I am gonna miss him though but Escobar appears to be ready and we still have other infield options in the minors.
  11. I was at the game and it wasn't much better in person. I was wondering the whole time why they wouldn't let Ovie run at least a little. The O- did seem to fight a little harder once Harrington was pulled. I may be wrong but they don't seem to have much confidence in him. I know I lost what little I had in him based on his earlier performances, after what he did today. He didn't try to make anything happen and made himself an easy target. It wasn't all on the O-line.
  12. I was just thinking the same thing . Should we poll to see which one of their big three Batista takes out first and what their fans reaction would be?

    Cenk Akyol

for why he would rather play here in the U.S. this season rather than back home. It was posted earlier that is what he wants to do, but I'm no good at finding older posts to establish links. The article laments that it will be harder for future Turkish stars to develop, it doesn't state they are NBA ready. The question now is where do Cenk need to be in order to have a shot to play for our team in the near future, possibly the 2008/09 season.

    Cenk Akyol

This article ( http://www.todayszaman.com/tz-web/detaylar...tay&link=117448 ) is another reason why it would be better for him to come play here this season. Apparently the Turkish Basketball League changed its rule allowing teams to have more foreign players on the team/ bench. The end result has been younger players like Cenk being benched. One resolution to fix the problem is to allow them to play elsewhere so they can develop while the TBL maintain certain rights to them.
  15. Regardless of the sport, some fan on here cannot acknowledge the good or great play of an Atlanta player without using it to promote their personal favorite.
  16. I truly don't understand how trading younger, cheaper productive talent (Chill,MW, Shell and even JoshS) for older, more costly players like Dalembert/Camby)who are not guaranteed to continue to produce is more beneficial than letting our own guys grow together. Paying out more money cannot help us now unless it is to keep our guys together. We should wait until the trade deadline before we tweak our roster as far as trading away any of our young guys. We need to stop looking at it as though we are trading from a weak position. We have young, cheap talent that other teams want, don't be in such a rush to give it away.
  17. I hope that Law is as good as advertised before the draft. That is, being a sharp shooter who is clutched at the end, and is capable of running the point. Stuckey was praised for his toughness as well as being able to run the position, which is one of the reasons the Pistons drafted him. I liked this little tidbit about his play thus far: "I really like what I've seen thus far of Rodney Stuckey and Arron Afflalo. Stuckey is as advertised -- tough, stronger than he looks. He drove the ball hard to the basket against 76ers rookie Jason Smith (a bulky 7-footer) on Saturday. Both had momentum going up and when they collided, it was Smith who bounced off Stuckey and tumbled to the court. Detroit News " For the record I'm content with waiting to see what happens this season before passing judgment on the capabilities of any of our young guys. The talent is there, but time will tell who needs to be moved to improve this team in order to excel come playoff time.
  18. I agree, I would love to get Jack back in the ATL. Although people arond here don't want to trade Chillz, I think a trade for Jack and a second rd pick would benefit both teams. It would give us an experience young point with home town flavor. It would give Portland the swingman that they desire. Also Jack can backup JJ at the two while Law plays the point. Last but not least it would balance out our team a little bit more.
  19. enough to improve their game and work on getting stronger. I found this on CBS Sportsline: "--F/C Solomon Jones was spotted at the Hawks' training facility in the days before the draft, working out and showing off his pumped up physique. Jones has added some beef to his slender frame -- he said he's up to 231 pounds and his arms are noticeably bigger. Whether that'll be enough to earn him playing time in a crowded Hawks frontcourt rotation remains to be seen." It is good to know he's picking up weight and getting stronger. (Hopefully, I didn't repost old news)
  20. ""m no expert on him, but doesn't having a 2 inch shorter standing reach than the NEXT shortest starting C put you at a huge disadvantage?" I would think that two inches wouldn't matter much if Horford is stronger than the guys he is guarding and he uses good technique while defending the basket. A 6'10" center can be effective in this league if he is fundamentally sound, which every analysis that I have read states Horford is.
  21. Also listed as Forward/center on the NBA site: http://www.nba.com/draft2007/profiles/bySize.html
  22. We will still need a PG, but remember the Hawks are in the running for the Spanish PG. He is a free agent so if we can clear some cap room he may fix our problem. (Lue,Speedy,AJ?? and ??Papaloukis??). BK needs to get Phoenix to sacrifice our pick from next year but I shouldn't be greedy.
  23. I was wondering if Hibbert had stayed, would we be pushing for the Hawks to draft him at #3. I can't help but wonder what type of advice he received that made him withdraw. Besides Oden, I believe he would have been the next center chosen. Possibly by the Hawks at three. Is he going to improve his status that much by waiting until next year? Those of you that follow the college ranks more closely than I, could Hibbert be the number 1 or 2 selection next year? He could look at Noah and see that nothing is quaranteed by waiting a year. I believe the chances are greater that his draft position could easily slide lower than #3. Do you think he was afraid of the expectations that would be on him to be that dominating big for us? Enough of my ranting, here is what his predraft analysis said about him, written by Andy Katz: Hibbert was listed at 7'2, 265lbs Positives: Solid big man with great size, strength and length. Can rebound, block shots and play physical defense. Hard worker who improved tremendously over the past two seasons. Good hands. Nice footwork in the paint. Good low post passer. Decent range on his jump shot. Good basketball IQ. Negatives: He's not a great athlete. Lumbering isn't the right word, but he does play fairly robotically. A lack of explosiveness or quickness to his game will hurt him at the next level. Not much of a rebounder considering his size. Summary: He's been all over the boards with scouts over the past few years. They love his size and potential, but his strong play in the second half of the season and in the NCAA tournament has him back as a likely late lottery to mid first-round pick. His decision to stay in school one more year will pay off if he can dominate for Georgetown as a senior.
  24. I found this stating that he only measured 6'10" at the combine. Previously I was thinking that if we somehow come up with a guard prior to the 11th pick that we could take a chance on him, if he was a 7foot center. Now it looks like Yi is the only true 7 footer that is worthy of being drafted as a lottery pick. All in all the only true big man capable of playing and delivering in the post is Horford. Its gotta be Horford or Yi at three ... There just isn't any other options for drafting a big that could help us. There are options for drafting a PG. I have yet to see any trade for a big that seems to be in our favor. Every trade has us trading from a position of weakness, when we should be the ones in the drivers seat. BK has to play hardball to keep us from being screwed in any trade, if not he should keep the picks.
  25. is that the longer this thing drags out, I would imagine that the VALUE of the Hawks is going up. In the end Belkin benefits either way. All without contributing anything other than his initial investment.
