He’s never gonna be the guy to guard smaller quick players (agree with you there 100%) but I think big wings and probably even some small fours he won’t have an issue in my opinion. hawks need someone at the 2 who can do the quicker guys so it kinda makes sense they keep being linked to Cason

This is a very unfair assessment of one of the youngest players in the entire nba. AJ is like the third youngest player across the nba and rookies are bad defensively regardless who it is… now onto the actual film, he does not project to be an all nba level defender at all and guarding quicker guys on the perimeter will certainly not be his strong suit but at duke he used his big frame really well down low and he knows how to use his size. His team defensive should be pretty solid. I also think people forget to acknowledge he had a very horrible injury and his burst is slowly coming back. Look at how athletic he was in hs to where he is now. If he gets back to that level he will be an average to above average defender. And yes he will be by far better than bey on that end

Honestly hes a perfect fit with Oneyka. He has all the qualities you want in a forward under Snyder. And pairing it with OO gives you a much larger player that can rebound well, still give you weakside help defense while OO anchors the paint. Health concerns are a big concern though. Did well last szn in washington but would have to load manage him through szn.

Multiple players that make sense short term and long: lively, gradey, wallace, jett, maxwell, kris murray. The reality is whoever we take most likely isn't seeing the rotation short term anyways unless they consolidate trade some people. And we aren't exactly a contender yet so take BPA for long term to begin with. if they carve out a role great but thats not how you are supposed to draft when you aren't fully a contender. Also probably won't be picking at 15 anyways

Everybody just calm down lol. Hawks had I believe the fourth hardest schedule by SOS post ASB... They have played pretty much every other day since the break. They will not have 3 days off to work on things with a lighter schedule coming. This team isn't good and they will need to break the poor habits that they learned under Nate. Snyder has had zero chance to install his plays and scheme and this end of the season is simply a trial run to see who he wants to keep for next season on. Just take a breathe and don't expect anything for this season which was already ruined when they brought nate back

You guys can’t seriously think Trae can’t thrive in an off ball system. You also have to get away from this notion that’s is complete motion or complete pnr. The best teams mix and match elements from both lol the hawks offense and the team was good in the beginning when he was running about 12 off ball screens for Trae a game. And that’s under Nate’s garbage system. Imagine what it will be like with a real offensive mind. I told you guys for two plus seasons now Nate stinks and isn’t the guy that NBAsupes think he is. Also told you guys a month ago Lee would be the coach. Never been one to share like the main three on here but this has been in the works for such a long time lol
