  1. Whaley was impressive during the Rocky Mountain Review Summer League. I doubt Utah would let him go this cheap. I would love the Hawks to get him though.
  2. On the buildings question. Didn't we also play at the Thriller Dome (GT)(another alexander memorial), where it is showing us playing at the Georgia Dome?
  3. Quote: "Gets inside their head." I believe Batman was the Hawk that the announcers said was getting "Trash Talk" sent his way, but he only understands Spanish! That would mess with your mind. Talk to an opponent and he looks at you with a blank stare !!! Ha! He has a lot of learning to do, but, with the price of his salary, he's going to be worth it. He's not costing a bundle. He will get better. I'm going with the mule on this one. In terms of NBA Salaries he's free! We didn't give nothing for him, players, draft picks, etc... He isn't Karl Malone out there. Could be a poor Charles Oakley though. He's still very young. I like his fierce play, and making other guys mad. We need that! He isn't taking away anyone's minutes that deserves to be out there more than him. I really don't see the problem. As for the hype, all new players get some. In Batman's Case, he was the unknown. What will he be? How good? I have no problems with him.
  4. Thank you Frosgrin. Nice job! Was waiting for someone to point that out. In referencing to our need for a big man: "It also keeps them from being able to gamble on defense" This is what is so very true. We have to gamble is correct. Sometimes we will get steals, and sometimes we will give up lay ups. Since we don't have a big man, it's just trying to gauge when we should gamble, and when we shouldn't. We have to do both, and find that balance. Getting the balance right just in this area, would tremendously improve our chances in winning.
  5. Well we completed our first week over at the unofficial league. The Ming Dynasty was our top team to get us started off. Ming Dynasty sits a top our league with an impressive 8 to 1 victory over the Atlanta Ganstaslapas. Don't count the Ganstaslapas out. They have made the most moves in our league with 7. So the 16th place team has made the most roster moves, is a good sign. Your only as strong as your weakest link. So our weakest link is doing his/her best to tweak the roster up. South Dakota Stallions is in 2nd place, and the Boondocks in 3rd place. Then the mess starts. 5 teams went 5/4 last week. Yes, 5 teams tied for 4th place. So with 5 teams going 5/4 last week, also means you have 5 teams that went 4/5. So very close race, and good competition going on. So what's a good fantasy combination for this early in the season? Here are some notable names from our top team, the Ming Dynasty: Allen Iverson Jermaine O'Neal Chris Webber Pau Gasol Antoine Walker Troy Murphy And as for Yao Ming, he isn't on the Ming Dynasty. Shocking isn't it? Ok, good luck guys. We will see how this league is sorted out come December.
  6. I would love it. I'm definately on the Salim Bandwagon. I don't necessarily mind if he don't start, but would like to see him get 30+ Minutes a game.
  7. I think Woody has been fine. Seems a lot of people here make judgements on the final score. If all 3 games was like the 2nd half at Golden State, then I could see the negative Woody Posts. However, hasn't this team did something positive in all 3 games? They haven't put it all together for a whole game yet, but our last game (3rd of Season) was pretty close. Yes, the Hawks are on pace to be 0-82. If they win their next game (first home game), then they go to a 20 wins pace. Beat the Clips on Squawker Night, and this team is on something like a 32 game wins pace. Woody has definately yanked a lot of our starters out before the other team makes one change so far. He's already trying to find early combinations in the game. I think our main guys will get more PT when they play at home this week. From last year's start to finish, to the start this year. Woody has done fine. I watched the two very first Hawks Games last year. I started telling everyone that this team wouldn't win 10 games this year. Everyone laughed, and said they would. Well a 13 Win Season wasn't far off. I've actually read some of you posting that this team is worser than last year's. I don't think some of you watched the start of our season last year, or can't remember it as clear as me. We were dreadful. Last year we couldn't say wait til Delk and Harrington comeback. Last year we couldn't say Marv and Salim need more minutes. These guys just didn't exist on our bench last year. We got talent, and at some point this season we are going to get a glimpse of what we can do. Judging Woody, Lon Kruger, etc..., really isn't too fair. Let them go coach the Spurs, and see if they can play deep into the playoffs. Let Phil Jackson coach the Hawks and see if he can win back to back championships. Super Coach Larry Brown....have you checked his talent? How many games has he won?
  8. Ok, I brought this up in a previous post. Not much response, so not sure what your thoughts on the matter is. Just thought we could make a difference from the peanut gallery. The Clippers Game in particular. Sam Cassell loves to talk it up. We need to target him. Get him talking to us. I suggested the Tomahawk Chop. Since he did attend Florida State. Would any of you find it offensive to do the tomahawk chop while Sam is shooting free throws? Would it be like we was praising him? Insult to the Brves? My personel opinnion, is to target him. Cause he appears he is going to be the glue for that team this year. It might inspire him to go off on us, but I think we can get inside his head. We will give him the big head, knowing that we came prepared to deal with him specifically. Any suggestions would be great. Even if your not attending the game, feel free to give us your ideas, and watch the game on TV Thursday. See if your idea gets any air time!
  9. FOR THE ARKANSAS RIMROCKERS! He's a bum, and a cancer. A cancer can be good. Forces other guys to perfect their game, and try really hard to win games. Toine gave us that last year, and Lue has done his job for this year. I fully assume he is going to find a very dark corner on the bench and see little floor time. I won't buy anymore tickets with him on the floor. Just not worth the price of admission. Good news, I just saved a bunch of..........oh nevermind. There is good news. We are a good team, and are improving. All the things wrong right now, are very correctable. The talent is here. The Hawks are still one of the remainning teams in the NBA left that haven't lost at home yet. BRING ON THE LAKERS! We have struggled up a very hard and steep mountain on this 3 game road trip. The peak was reached tonigt in the Rose Garden. Hmmmmmmmmm........how nice the roses smelled on this night. THE ATLANTA HAWKS ARE FOR REAL! 49 WINS! Mark it down! Rise up Atlanta, the WNBA is a long ways away from now. THE HAWKS GOT NEXT! No way will Lue be in the extended line up introductions when they come back to Atlanta. Throw Salim the bone now! He deserves that extended lineup call out on openning night, with his name listed as STARTER! All right I got something to say Yeah, it's better to burn out Yeah, than fade away All right Ow Gonna start a fire C'mon! Rise up! gather round Rock this place to the ground Burn it up let's go for broke Watch the night go up in smoke Rock on! Rock on! Drive me crazier, no serenade No fire brigade, just Pyromania What do you want? What do you want? I want rock'n'roll, yes I do Long live rock'n'roll Oh let's go, let's strike a light We're gonna blow like dynamite I don't care if it takes all night Gonna set this town alight What do you want? What do you want? I want rock'n'roll, Allright! Long live rock'n'roll Rock of ages, rock of ages Still rollin', keep a-rollin' Rock of ages, rock of ages Still rollin', rock'n'rollin' We got the power, got the glory Just say you need it and if you need it Say yeah! Heh heh heh heh Now listen to me I'm Burnin', Burnin', I got the fever I know for sure, there ain't no cure So feel it, don't fight it, go with the flow Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road What do you want? What do you want? I want rock'n'roll, You betcha Long live rock'n'roll
  10. I agree with no heart. The team never closed the 2nd half deficit, and GS continue to run away with it. Not having a clue, is expected. Guys 25 and younger are young men, and have not qualified for Man Status yet. The 3-0 start was not impossible. GS and the Clips have the longest streaks of not making the playoffs, and Portland is in a young mold like us. It's still possible that this team can beat the Clips and Trail Blazers. Then we could look back and say we went 2 1/2. With only the 2nd half against the Warriors as the only loss.
  11. LOL.....well I had the same thoughts last night too. After a miserable sleep last night, I think we can recover from this. Not the end of the world. I can't exactly remember our first game last year, but I can't remember our team playing good til after the first few games. The first half we looked pretty good. Our perimeter defense, pressure on the ball, and creating the turnovers to start breaks was nice. The 2nd half was a collapse. I guess we can insert "youth" as our excuse here. So is our team more like the 1st half team? Or was we in sheep's clothing that half, and the true Hawks Team played in the 2nd half. I think when this road trip is over, we will have a clearer idea of what to expect. I'm not going to mention that 5 letter word yet, that starts with "D" and rhymes with Chris TAFT. If we do have to resort to that. Then we will get'em next year!
  12. I assume Stehpen A is a Knicks Fan or has friends there he feels the need to take up for that team. I was happy to see the Knicks lose. He's on the bandwagon for the Knicks making the playoffs.
  13. Yeah Lue does ruin the flow. Last year we said he didn't have no one to throw the ball to. He's doing his same play this year. Hangs on to the ball way too long. I think JJ and Al were both injured slightly, and that was the reason for finishing the 1st Half with a bench team out there.
  14. Quote: The spurs didn't beat a possible playoff team. They beat a likely division winner. But I don't think anyone expected them to lose. I would still give it to the Hornets though. Holding Sac to 67 points? Been a while since anyone was able to do that. Not to mention having to do it in a strange city. You gotta give them props for that. A likely division winner = a possible playoff team.
  15. Let the 49 Win Season Begin!!! Hawks 138 Warriors 97 The league will be buzzing over this one!
  16. Well I was weighing in on tonight mainly. A 26 point margin of victory is why I gave it to the Hornets. However, if you consider the Hornets are probably playing for the worse record in the league with the Raptors, and the Kings are picked to win their division by some. I think it is possibly the biggest upset of the year. Spurs (defending champs) beat a possible playoff team in Denver by 11 points. The good news is, if we do start off bad, and the Hawks don't gel. Then we have a game on the Hornets for the best chance at the top pick in the draft.
  17. I think you give it to the Hornets. Best team for the night. Honorable mention to the Mavs for making a great comeback.
  18. Hmmmmmm.......you said monster game. I expect those numbers from them 2. I will so with the 3 Man Salim. He goes for 37 Points.
  19. Yes, Cheap!!! It's guys like this that the Hawks have to go after. Pondonzklin in Dallas hurt = cheap. Most of you don't have us making the playoffs this year. So injuries are no problem for us.
  20. Speaking of the Clippers Game. Should we get some chants in place? Looks like most of us are at one end of the floor (behind the basket). Start some chants up while the Clips shoot free throws? Let the Squawkers truly be the 6th Man! I know some of you will have some good ideas. Maybe learning guys middle names, and chanting their middle name while their at the charity stripe? What about Sam Cassell, didn't he go to Florida State? Maybe do a Tomahawk Chop and Chant while he's at the line? This should be easy to get started, since a lot of us are Braves Fans and know the process. (BTW the Seminoles do this at their football games, I'm sure Sam is familar with it) Any good ideas?

  24. Quote: doleac is not that much better than waivers players that he's worth giving up part of our future (donta/2nd rounder)
  25. ATLANTA (AP) -- Investigators suspect Atlanta Hawks center Jason Collier died of a heart problem and will announce their findings Tuesday. The 28-year-old player died Oct. 15 after he had trouble breathing in his Georgia home. The autopsy was conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. GBI spokesman John Bankhead says the office performs all Forsyth County autopsies, and Bankhead said this autopsy showed the cause of death to be ``heart-related.'' The corner's office announced a news conference for Tuesday. ``It's a heart abnormality,'' said Collier's agent, Richard Howell. ``It certainly appears to be that. Signs point to that.'' Coroner Lauren McDonald III said his office pulled Collier's medical records from the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are wearing permanent black shoulder patches on their uniforms to honor the 7-footer, who was a part-time starter the last two seasons for Atlanta after three years in Houston. He began his college career at Indiana before transferring to Georgia Tech. The Hawks will leave Collier's uniform in his locker through the season.
