  1. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of my fellow RealGMers, Hawksquawkers, Hawks.comers, Hoopshypers, and Insidehoopers. Enjoy today as much as I am or more and continue congregating amongst our community of Hawks faithful. LET'S go Hawks!!! Playoffs may not be out of the question....
  2. This overall equation just pissed me off so much that it damn near spoiled my X-Mas Eve (not X-Mas): FALCONS Poor play calling on critical downs (4th and OT) Horrible defense throughout the 2nd half Embarrasing sense of pride/ urgency (last 4 games) + Completely disasterous _______________________________ Sickening losses and shameful fall from contender to pretender in one month. Really crushed my feeling on what the Falcons are capable of accomplishing. SAD.
  3. Allen a bunch of games over the last 2 seasons, including almost half of a season when Flip Murray blew up and then blew out when Allen returned.
  4. NO need to trade young guys that have great attributes and high potential for an aging beast and an unproven, untested stiff (who has bust written all over him), huh? I'm not saying Darko isn't worth a trade, because I think he needs to leave DET and get some PT before it's too far in his career to even produce at his highest potential. I'm also not saying that we can't use Big Ben, because he brings exactly what we need most; TOUGHNESS, HEART, and EXPERIENCE. I'm simply saying we can't give up 2 key peices to what we've built so far.
  5. I feel ya. Big John even blocked a Shaq attempt, but of course.....Refs called a foul! But J-Ed didn't really back down too much from him though. I say it again. Big J-Ed would be a nice center if they can develop him properly. I think he could be very much like a poor man's Kevin McHale, but with Rik Smits-like stats. Now with a solid PF (Bosh/ Frye/ Garnett) starting next to Zaza, and J-Ed as a backup C, this season will have already done wonders for us inside and soildified our nucleus for the future. So I say it again. We need to develop Big John into a tougher, more aggressive low post threat, and better shotblocker. Because he has the size and ability.
  6. I kinda like that Marvin for Bosh proposal and I think both teams could have a potential star and come away happy. Bosh would be great here, especially if AL's traded. But to get Bosh without trading Smoove, JJ, Zaza, or Al. That a no-brainer, whether Marvin becomes a superstar or not. I say throw in Lue in as a filler. Then we could deal Al for Watson and Nene because Lue will be gone and Watson could get his desired starting spot and Nene could backup both Bosh and Zaza if he come back early from the injury. Bosh would give us a better low post alternative to giving Zaza 3-4 touches and then going away from him. C - Zaza/ Nene/ J-Edwards PF - Bosh/ Nene/Batitsta SF - Smoove/ Marvin/ Donta SG - JJ/ Chillz/ Salim PG - Watson/ Ivey
  7. The only Artest trade the Hawks should take part in is a beneficial 3-way trade that lands us either a significant PF or PG or both and sends Artest to a third party. Reason being is that Artest is not going to welcome a losing team, and he does not have a great "team" attitude nor does he have a sense of one. That will do nothing but hurt our team moral, chemistry (even more), and the development of our young guys. I like these 3-way trade ideas: 1. ATL/ INDY/ SAC ATL - trades Al + Delk and gets Peja + INDY's 1st INDY - trades Artest + 1st and gets Al SAC - trades Peja and gets Artest + Delk 2. ATL/ INDY/ LAL ATL - trades Al + Delk + Lue and gets Odom + INDY's 1st INDY - trades Artest + 1st and gets Al + Delk LAL - trades Odom and gets Artest + Lue 3. ATL/ INDY/ NYK ATL - trades Al + Delk + 1st and gets Frye + Tinsley INDY - trades Artest + Tinsley and gets Al + Crawford + ATL's 1st NYK - trades Frye + Crawford and gets Artest + Delk
  8. NO, I don't beleive he is. I think it was just Lue finally playing more like he did last year and finally producing at the PG spot. Even though Ivey and Lue played very good and we won, benching Salim [with his abiities] can bite us in the azz, because you never can not need his scoring. Lue almost blew the game byu constantly getting beat by Parker. So good to see us beat the best!!!
  9. Josh Smith? Out for what? I missed the last 2 games...
  10. Andre Miller's game never sucked... + He only grew and got better and then ended up going to DEN where he does way more than just score... + Andre Miller is one of the league's best penetrating PG who know how to run a break, set guys up for shots, and make his team better... + He has the ability to get to the FT line like 5-6 times/ game and makes nearly 82%, which is really punishing late in games for opponents...(We all know that's where we a PG the most) + The guy avg. 14 pts, 4 rpg, 7 apg + 1.4 steals for his career... The Hawks don't have a veteran PG that can do those things on a nightly basis. He only makes a little bit more than Al's current contract, so we'd still have room to sign a Ben Wallace or Nene in the offseason.
  11. about the Toronto game, and it clearly proves that Woody can not coach these guys. Think about this: On Charlie Villanueva's layup, Childress was inches away (not super close, but inches nonetheless) from blocking it. Now ask yourself: "Why in the hell wasn't Smoove in the game (in Chillz's spot) and couldn't he have easily made that game-winning block?" "Why is Chillz always in the game at the crunch time, while Smoove is clearly the better defender?" Now, it's a given that Chillz has a better bball IQ and is a bit more tenacious. "Isn't Smoove is more athletic, quicker, and a lot more talented, defensively?" Woody just makes poor decisions in game defining moments, and his mistakes in those situations alone, have cost the Hawks at least 3 of the close losts. How long do we have to tough this disgusting situation out without a change?
  12. Here are TWO very possible ways to get Andre Miller... #1 Hawks get: Andre Miller Nene Nuggets get: Al Harrington Tony Delk or Josh Childress //////////////////// #2 Hawks get: Andre Miller Channing Frye Nuggets get: Quentin Richardson Tony Delk or Josh Childress Knicks get: Al Harrington Voshon Leonard Future ATL pick (if needed)
  13. Can someone please tell me why do teams need so many controversial calls to beat the Hawks this year? WTF is going on? Especially with Portland. Now I know basketball well enough to know that one play doesn't win or lose a game, but one play in a tied game with one a sec. left is devastating. That's twice the refs have given POR wins over the Hawks at the buzzer. WTF!!! WTF!!! WTF!!! Now some of us around the boards have been very suspicious of a NBA conspiracy against the Hawks and this really keeps my curiousity going a little more.
  14. Am I the only fan to think these all sound like coaching issues...
  15. Definately agree with that...Emphatically!!! I would rather us offer the "Reign Man" a contract rather than John Thomas. DAMN. Kemp used to be my favorite player next to Dominique.
  16. The above trade gives us the ability to: - give Marvin and Salim plenty of miutes to develop much more easily, without the pressures of starting either (even though Salim may could handle it) - let JJ play next to a pure PG once again - allow Salim to play off the bench much like Ben Gordon did in CHI last year - draft the best player this year without a need for multiple players/ we could focus on a shotblocker inside to develop behind Zaza and Nene, and so much more...
  17. Atlanta gets Andre Miller Nene Hillario Denver gets Josh Childress Al Harrington Now that's a trade that is very beneficial to both teams and could make us a lot better while staying young. Salaries nearly match and the trade fills needs for both teams. We may have to include a 2nd rounder to really swing DEN. Andre Miller: He's only 29 years old. One of the top all-around point guards in the league and he is a great playmaker who makes the whole team better. We definately need that and we can't get no better than Andre Miller at PG. A Miller + JJ starting backcourt!!! Whoa. Nene: Just an athletic beast when healthy. He plays hard and very aggressive most of the time and is tall and strong enough to play center at 6'11/ 265. Even though he is injured for the year, he and Zaza would make us very strong and tough inside next year. A huge difference in what we have now and well worth the wait. C - Zaza/ Edwards PF - Nene/ Marvin/ Batista (needs -> NBDL) SF - Smoove/ Donta SG - JJ/ Salim PG - Miller/ Lue/ Ivey (needs -> NBDL) Looks like a 2006-07 playoff team to me. Let's make it happen.
  18. Interesting... Keep in mind, we the fans, buy the tickets.
  19. He basically outplayed our so-called "leader" Al in the game tonight vs. MEM. AL's punk-@ss line: 6pts/ 5reb/ 1stl and 3 TOs in 25 mins. JOHN's line: 6pts/ 4reb (3 off)/ 1stl/ 1blk in only 13 mins. That's RE-DAYUM-DICULOUS!!!!!!!
  20. Maybe we trade Childress and could get either: Ely from CHA or Wilcox from LAC (Unlikely) or Gooden from CLE We may need to throw in Delk or a 2nd, but they'd be well worth it. But before we trade him I think we should try to bench him first and let Marvin start, and then give Donta a lot of his minutes until he improves. It seems to be working with Smoove (at least it did tonight) and if it doesn't, pull the trigger one any above trade if possible. Not too just say Chillz is holding us back, but Al is really supposed to be our leader and he put up 6/5 and though he hit a big shot or two, he was outplayed John Edwards who had 6/4 and a block in only 13 mins. JOHN EDWARDS? C'mon Al, WTF!!!!!!!!
  21. Even though I have only seen him this season and it's very early right now. You guys can call me crazy but, I DO see a little potential in John Edwards. OK, I know you are in awww a little bit, but close your mouth (before you drool) for just a second.... Now, don't get it twisted, he does suck right now and I don't see the heart, the mean streak, the strength, or the athleticism for him to be an allstar center, but... I DO SEE THAT: - (basketball IQ) he knows how to use his height effectively - (very coachable) he listens and makes changes in the game - (size) very big at 275 and is somewhat agile like Gasol - he is very weak right now, but with training and development, how many (non-Shaq) centers could push around 7'1/ 275lbs? - (starter potential) he may develop a desire to be good and that's when he'll make strides but he may not and just remain at the end of every bench he rides - (athleticism) he doesn't really need to be very athletic because of his size - (offense) he has a very soft touch and he has a few moves on the post - (defense) he could easily block shots just by trying, but he hasn't gotten much time to show that yet HE NEEDS TO: - be very agressive and play hard/ strong - polish the moves that he has and add a couple more on both sides kinda like "go-to" moves - really "want it" and really enforce his will and want to be dominant - contest any shot near him until he develops shotblocking timing and instincts - he'll definately need a little mean streak HIS CEILING: -(safe comparisons) if he develops all the above he may develop a R. Smits/ K. McHale "kinda" game but more like J. Pryzbilla -(stat projections) at best: 14pts/8reb/2bpg starter that looks good next to a Big Ben-type PF but without work + mean streak he'll probably end up being more like a 4pts/3reb/.5bpg backup Either way, I think he's a decent bargain at $1million per. I'm not promising anything from him, I just think BK and the coaches see some of these things in him and grabbed him for those reasons. But just like with Smoove, they both need to have a coach drive them acheive as much of their potential as possible. Woodson tries to, but I think the problem may simply be that he just doesn't know how.
  22. Quote: We are sorely missing a big body other than ZaZa and we should have signed Curry. Too many of the guys on here are getting things twisted with what the Hawks are in need of inside. We don't just need another big body inside with Zaza. Because if that was the case, we could simply start Edwards + Zaza and have Al start at SF. What we need is a very athletic PF that can score a little, run well, and blocks plenty of shots and together with Zaza makes a very formidable presence inside. That's all the more reason the Smoove should be our PF of the future. He just needs a a more patient, experience coach who knows how to mold players like Smoove into diamonds. We need someone right now to help us win and be more competitive and even though I hope Al will be resigned, I feel like Bosh, Wilcox, or Ely would fit perfect with Zaza. But with the exception of Bosh (who is the most unlikely) those guys are not as good as Al. So if we could send a good player Childress home to LA for Wilcox and move Al back to SF, we'd be good to go. I would love an Al for Bosh trade but we may have to add Childress or Delk + a 2nd for Bosh + Alvin. I think both teams could benefit and would have better looks. WE ALL WANT the Hawks to win and most of us see that a trade would really help us a lot. I'm sure we all feel like the Hawks just need a little bit more to put us over.
  23. I 2nd the Childress trade because he is decent and will be really good, but he's not a allstar or a big time talent, so why not use his value while it's exists. I like a trade of Al + Chillz for: - Bosh + (Alvin or Eric Williams) or - Darko + (Arroyo or McDyess) or - E. Watson + Nene
