Spiral
Do you have the specifics of the JJ trade? The way I understood it is that we owe Phoenix two first round picks. The pick was lottery protected this year and top 3 protected next year. I was not aware that there were any other provisions.
a1aa0
Nice idea.... But the trade states it has to be Atlanta's OWN pick... Therefore not one that the Hawks have received from another team... "The Suns will receive Atlanta's own first round pick no later than the 2008 NBA Draft. That pick which is "lottery" protected (1-14) in 2006, has protection through No. 3 in 2007 and has no protection in 2008." So it's a pretty safe bet they'll get it in 2008. Nicholasp27
we've already had this idea and found out that the two picks are specified precisely pick 1: the boston/la pick that we got for walker pick 2: OUR pick this year (lotto protected), OUR pick next year (top 3 protected: enough for oden), OR OUR pick in the following year (no protection) what would be interesting is if we traded al and got a decent lotto pick this year and then gave phoenix our pick this year even if it's in the lotto...then we use the pick we got for al this year to get rondo or another pg or a defensive big...so we basically then traded al/walker/diaw for jj/delk/(whatever else we get for al) dre/1st would be awesome al to chicago for duhon/nyk's pick would be amazing; we'd get a true pg and we'd have a top 10 pick and then just give phoenix ours this year (unless it's #1/2 and we get aldridge/williams)

According to him if we resign Al we won't be in the lottery next year and the Suns will get next years pick, which will be 17 or higher.
