Proposed trade with Indiana

Guys - was reading hoopshype and ran across a rumor that I've been reading about sening O'Neal and #17 to Toronto for #1 and Villanueva.

Got me thinking....would it work and would we consider trading Al and the #5 pick to Indy for

O'Neal and the #17 pick

ATL gets

O'NEAL

#17 where we could pick up some depth or a PG

INDY gets

#5

Harrington is a FA, therefore he can't be traded on draft day or before. He can do an SnT after the negotiating moritorium is lifted sometime after the draft (I can't remember the exact date). Therefore, we can't do the deal.

So how could Sacramento send Bonzi Wells in a Sign-and-trade for Garnett including their draft pick this year?

I haven't seen this. Its not on any of the big sites. This must be a proposed trade by somebody. But from my understanding, you can't trade a free agent (which makes sense, since you don't have the rights to that person, only thier Bird-rights).

They can propose all they want, but Bonzi can't negotiate with any team until after the draft. Sac can't make any deals involving him, because he could choose to sign elsewhere, so they can't really even draft for Minny and trade the rights after.

At least that's how I see it.
