Hoosier
Indiana will not make the playoffs, but will be better than the ten worst teams. Harrington was a desperation move for them, and will help assure their mediocrity for years to come. The Hawks on the other hand played their best basketball last year with Harrington on the bench. The young players they have now will defer to JJ and play well as a team, and with added maturity they get to the 8th or 9th spot in the East. The Hawks will have a better record than the Pacers, so our pick in '07 will be better than the Hawks own pick.
lush23
What are you smoking? Indiana will be one of the better teams in the east this year. This Hawks team will not win 30 games.
Premium Member Diesel Posted August 23, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 23, 2006 Al represents 2 things. 1. A desperate move. 2. A safety valve. First and foremost let's start with the acknowledgement of two things. Al is better than Peja. Peja is a walking disappearing act. Al is a ball of consistency. That means that Indy will be better than they were for the second half of the season. They still have lots of good pieces. They didn't loose anything. 2ndly, if the chemistry isn't working... I expect Bird to trade JO (as he has threatened before). That will send the team into the tank and they will be in the lottery. They will also get back a lot of nice assets. IF the chemistry is not working by January... Expect to see JO make his way to LAL for a lot of players and picks.
Lascar78
Indy will be a top 5 team in the East, but we will win more than 30 games easily. We will push for 40 and probably fall short.
Hoosier
The Pacers have gotten younger w/o the athleticism to go with it. They do not have any real leadership on the court, and yes Bird is going to have a mess on his hands, since the Pacer fans will not tolerate a loosing. Most of the bottom teams in the East have gotten better, producing almost utter parity except for Miami, Cleveland, Detroit, NJ, and Washington. That leaves about three playoff spots for possibly eight teams. Indiana has more talent than some of those teams, but the team is not constructed very well. Defenses will just pack it in on them and force them outside.
Popeye
All we have to do is pray that Pacers lose.
