G.Rob's effect on Hawks

I looked over the G.Rob's #'s and here's what I've found:

When he shoots:

1. 18+ shots, the Hawks are 12-27 (= .308)

2. 15-17 shots, the Hawks are 6-9 (= .400)

3. 12-14 shots, the Hawks are 8-5 (= .615)

4. Under 12 shots, 0-2

5. DNP, 7-3 (= .700)

The Hawks current winning percentage is .418, but it is .600 when Big Dog does not play or makes less than 15 shots. (25 game sample)

The two games (losses) where Big Dog shot less than 12 shots were:

1. The thrilling two point, 2OT loss to Portland

2. The recent 4 pt. loss to NYK where the Hawks nearly came back from 14 pts. down at the end of 3.

Also, one of the "DNP" losses was that three point loss in OT to Detroit when Billups hit the game winner.

The number are clear: Big Hog = no playoffs. We've already shown that the more Shareef scores, the more the Hawks win.

Trade Big Hog for Spreewell, who has taken 18+ shots in only 18 games this year for the Knicks - for a much more respectable 10-8 record in those games. And remember that Spreewell has been guarding SF in a lot of those games - one reason why NY would make the trade, since they already have Houston locked into the SG spot for the next century. Fill Big Hog's spot with a more defense-oriented SF and you have a playoff contender in the EC.

The Big Dog - Spree trade would leave the Hawks with the following holes:

1. Backup SG - filled by one or more of the following: Glover, DJ, Steve Smith, Eric Piatkowski, Jon Barry, Antonio Daniels?

2. Starting SF - someone mentioned Jumaine Jones? Maybe Newble, Walt Williams, or a draft pick as his backup?

JT/Dickau

Spree/Barry/Draft pick (SG/SF)

Jones/Williams

SAR/Hendu

Theo/Nazr/Summer camp invitee (C/PF)

IMO, the bench is a little weak, so a minor trade might be made - perhaps sending Dickau packing (since JT becomes the PG of the future?)...

In a recent poll I conducted here, Glover & Newble were

voted as the most improved Hawks.

They have done nothing since the poll to chang things

for them. Both have played some very good basketball

for us recently.

I think the Hawks would do well to retain these two for

next season and apparently those who voted for them

as the most improved Hawks would agree.

Also recieving votes were Theo, SAR & JT. If we keep

those five, they make a solid base for next season.

Removing the rest of the roster, or at least most of it

and adding a fully recovered DerMarr should be the

objective of the Hawks for next year.
