Guest Walter
http://realgm.com/src_goaltending/129/2007...ams_are_making/ The 3 existing NBA head coaches with an NBA title all won their first NBA title within 3 years. Point 1) Woodson missed the cut Point 2) Will our next coach? Note: Larry Brown a notable near exception. W
DavidSomerset
I expect Woody to prove a lot of people wrong this year. He gets a bad rap because he was put into an awful situation. With the level of talent on his teams, could any coach have really won more than 13, 26, then 30 (with an injury ravaged team) games?? We have been the youngest team in the NBA the past three years...How are we supposed to win like that?? I am one of the few that thinks Woody is a fine coach...We have slightly overachieved on our record every year he's been here, except maybe last year, and that was due to injuries. coachx
What is your point. Did you fail to put any thought behind your post ? Did any of this even cross your mind ? The 3 active coaches that won championships walked into PERFECT situations: 1. Phil Jackson - The Jordan / Pippen Bulls team was one of the greatest basketball dynasties of all time. How can that situation be compared to the Hawks of 3 years ago. Oh, and by the way Jordan ws 28 before he won his first title. 2. Greg Popovich - He had 2 Hall of Fame 7 footers, David Robinson and Tim Duncan ! Wow ! Again that situation was nothing like Atlanta's 3 yeas ago. 3. Pat Riley - The names Magic, Kareem, Worthy, mean anything to you ? Again how can you compare that situation to Atlanta's 3 years ago.
Guest Walter
Quote: The 3 active coaches that won championships walked into PERFECT situations: No [censored]. However, there have been other "perfect situations" in which other coaches have not faired so well. Del Harris in LA, Van Gundy in NY, Hill(?) in Orlando (O'Neal/Penny), Flip Saunders in Detroit, others... Quote: What is your point. Did you fail to put any thought behind your post ? Perhaps there is something to these coaches. Ya think? IN THEIR FIRST THREE YEARS they won NBA titles. No matter what situation you enter into the coach matters and these coach's mattered VERY QUICKLY for their teamS. Note: In Pop's and Riley's case they can be somewhat if not wholely credited for making each his own "perfect situation" by drafting Duncan/Parker or drafting Wade and trading for Shaq.
