Trading Theo to Dallas should be really easy NOW.

Seriously,

I'm thinking that Dallas would give us the world for Theo right now. If not the world, how about some love from PTL? Yes, the often picked on Blazer might give us some loving for a three way....

Let's try this for Grins....

If we sent Theo/Hendu/CC to Dallas.

Dalls sent Finley/Lafrentz to PTL.

Would PTL send us Rasheed/McInnis?

OK...

What about

same trade,

PTL sends us Bonzi/Davis/McInnis.

I happen to like that deal:

JT/McInnis/Bonzi/SAR/Davis would kick some butt.

OK, how about if we sent Theo/CC to Dallas.

They sent Finley to Memphis.

We get Lo/Person.

Actually, could Theo/CC get us Lo/Person without Dallas?

OK... What if :

Theo/CC/Hendu to Dallas.

Finley/Lafrentz to GS

Damp/Sura/Foyle/Richardson to Atlanta.

Excitement:

Damp/Reef/Diaw/Richardson/Terry.

This is the latest rumor with blazers... plus the NJ deal isn't dead despite published reports...

Blazing The Trail - Pau, Priest, Patterson, and Portland

Stuart Peschka

8/17/2003

Once again there was little to report on the trade front this week for the Blazers. I feel like we’re all stuck in a collective ice cube, being swirled around by a giant size Dean Martin in a highball glass while the rest of the world, i.e. the NBA, passes us by. More and more teams are making moves to improve themselves while we wind up and wind down faster than a sixty year old man in dire need of Viagra.

A couple of notable events struck home this week, though. Arvydas Sabonis has been officially waived and just in the nick of time. By doing so now, the team will save $7 million towards the cap and an extra $7 million they would have had to have paid in luxury tax. The only bad part of the deal, besides Sabonis not playing with the team, is that the Blazers weren’t able to use him as bait to lure in some unsuspecting Memphis bass…

Did I say bass? I meant brass. Trade talks have been rumored for awhile between Memphis and Portland. This week John Nash appeared on a local online radio broadcast which was perceived by some as the second coming, being such a rare occurrence. Essentially Nash stuck to the party line, making the central committee proud, refusing to divulge any secrets but hinting at a few things – notably the persistent Gasol for Wallace rumors.

As any mind numbed NBA fan who spends countless hours studying the Sanskrit collective bargaining agreement rules knows, it would be difficult to trade the two for each other as their salaries are so far apart. Other players would have to be included in the trade. While Gasol is a great talent in my opinion, though he’s a “tweener”, I think most Blazer fans would feel a little slighted if we had to throw in three other players to make the deal work. Unless, of course, the fans were allowed to vote for those players online (goodbye Patterson, Stoudamire, and the rights to Jennings).

I believe any trade that is going to go down now has to involve some legitimate form of backup center. Although I do hold some fancy to the idea of bringing Priest Lauderdale back from his current European road tour, if for nothing other than to see Lurch play basketball, I don’t think his body could hold up to any serious NBA minutes…After a couple of stairs the guy is moving enough wind to supply special effects in those cheesy Superman movies.

I also believe that we will eventually find yet another point guard somewhere. Damon is a leader-type, it’s just unfortunate that most of his leading is going downhill into a ravine across the river near the swamp. I honestly hope Damon pulls his act together long enough to make an entertaining show of it this year.

Some have also suggested that Jayson Williams be thrown in the Wallace – Gasol deal to make salaries match, to which I ask “Are you high?”. No seriously, I ask “Are you stupid?”. Jayson is flashier than a Vegas showgirl wearing nothing but sequins and dancing on top of the Luxor, but his play is inconsistent at best. Right now the only thing keeping him in line is the Jerry West secret police and the inhuman fear of the mummified form resembling Hubie Brown.

There was also some activity regarding Rasheed Wallace this week and a young fan with an autograph request. Rather than getting into the nitty gritty which has been lavishly pulled and pecked apart, I’ll just summarize by saying that some parents today need Ritalin worse than their children.

Next week, I Spy A Deal – John Nash and Steve Patterson reveal the enormous burden they have keeping a straight face while telling people they’re trying to deal players. Also, an update on Blaze the Blazer mascot – find out how you can help stop the madness.

The GRIZZLIES would have to throw in extra players to make the deal work, not the Blazers!

This guy is looney.

The truf... is that if Wallace were traded to Memphis... This would be the deal:

Wallace to Memphis.

Gasol/Brevin/Lo Wright/ and Watson to Portland...

Would Portland do it?

I suspect West would be after MORE than just this:

Wallace/Patterson to MEM

Gasol/Lo/Brevin/Dickerson to PTL

I say this because I believe that West wants Patterson as well. Didn't he draft Patterson. Patterson would be just the bad boy that Memphis needs to bulk up their toughness.

I imagine, in the end, MEM would have:

Nazr/Rasheed/Patterson/Posey/Bell as his starting 5.

This is a strong collection of talent if Nazr can play.

*(Nazr acquired from Nazr/CC for Person/Humprey).

Portland would have:

Damon/Bonzi/Gasol/Zach/Davis...

The interesting thing is Gasol's defense and his tweener ability could mean alot to this squad. Also, having Lo off the bench would be good for business too.

actually the rumor being bandied about most frequently is rasheed for gasol and jason williams and filler...

Supposedly West loves Rasheed and is very eager to get rid of williams contract which has 4-5 more years...

Personally I would love it if it went down, but who knows...

I do think that either this trade or the NJ will probably go down...
