frankthetank966 Posted November 27, 2009 Report Share Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) I think Mike Woodson stared in a TV Show from the past tonight, "Watch out for Oblivious..." Mike Woodson must have been watching a different game. The Hawks went 3-25 in the second half and at one point scored 2 pts in 5+ minutes. But Woodson continued to play the same exact guys who were unable to make a shot, play defense against Anthony Johnson and box out Dwight Howard. If Jermaine O'neal and the Heat could box out Howard effectively why cant Smoove, Horford and Zaza play defense against this guy? It all has to do with coaching. A) The players do not know how to properly box out a player such as Howard which is why there were numerous loose ball fouls called in Howards direction...and B) Because there were no coaching changes made to counter Howard's attack. We have Jason Collins and Joe Smith on the bench, both of whom got less than 12 minutes combined. Smith should be earning 10-12 a game. Josh Smith does not need to be on the court 90% of the time unless he is on fire. Tonight that was not the case. He was unable to hit his layups and wasn't playing great defense. So an off night for Smoove, not upset at him but upset at the coach! Take him out...dont dig yourself a bigger hole which is exactly what Woody did by leaving Jamal, JJ, Bibby, Marv, Horford and Smith in the game. Those guys just weren't playing well so why not mix it up with Teague, Evans, JJ (for obvious reasons mainly depth, would remain in the game) Joe Smith and Jason Collins? We have those guys on the bench for a reason...Evans and Teague are seeing no playing time. Evans is still a threat from the perimeter and none of our normal scorers were hitting their shot but they remained in the game. There was no ball movement with any PG tonight yet when Teague was in for a few minutes he was able to exploit the lane. Just open your eyes and you can tell that it was an off night but Woody kept going at it with the same guys who shot 20% in the second half.... Great coaching.
