THE DAILY (9-10-03). http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_5213.shtml Atlanta - France has had a relatively easy time so far in Eurobasket 2003 in Sweden, but today the Atlanta Hawks' Boris Diaw and his team face their toughest challenge yet - a Russian team led by Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko. Unfortunately for Atlanta, Diaw hasn't been much of a factor. .................................................................................... Jacque Vaughn Returns to the Hawks (9-9-03). http://www.jtthebrick.com/fanclub/nbafans/...BA&id=39678 .................................................................................... All that Jazz (9-9-03). http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_5189.shtml The Jazz are still weak at SG. Some of the better free agents that are left are SG’s. I’m just left scratching my head wondering why the Jazz haven’t picked someone up. Here is a list of the guys that the Jazz could go for that could help: Jason Terry: Hawks team is in disarray and if the Jazz acted right now they could pick him up. I doubt that the Hawks would match as there team is being sold and it doesn’t appear as if anyone is running the team. Terry could play both PG and SG for the Jazz. If one of the already signed guys steps up at that position then move Terry to the other. The only reason I see the Jazz not doing this is because they might not want to pay Terry too much and the Hawks might match. My vote is to try to sign him. He would really help the Jazz and would give them some scoring and somebody that can create shots for other people as well as himself. Dion Glover: Another former Hawk that is looking for a home. Glover has improved his game every year he has been in the league. He is able to play limited minutes at SF as well. Would be an excellent fit because he would come cheap and wouldn’t wine if he weren’t starting. He can shoot well from the outside and is good for a young veteran. DerMarr Johnson: Okay so the guy hasn’t played pro ball for a while because of a bad accident. He played great for the Grizzlies summer league and has a lot to prove now. He wants back into the game and is a great talent. I think that the Jazz should take a chance on him. He would fit in great with this team adding some athleticism to a dull team. So three Hawks are on this list of guys but I truly believe that the Jazz should sign at least two of them. I don’t believe that Terry will be signed by the Jazz but I really feel that Glover and Johnson would be great acquisitions.

Gray Mule
Now we know why the Hawks signed Vaughn. To take the place of J.T. Don't expect the Atlanta franchise match the offer. They don't want to spend the money. We have no owner, no J.T. and very little to look foreward to in the upcoming season. What a mess. Hawks and Phillips Arena tied together so that the potential new owner can't get the deal financed. There is probably no money to pay J.T. if we wanted to keep him. Can we trade the rest of the roster for future draft picks and sign up for a Development League Franchise for the upcoming season? Just maybe Atlanta could afford to support one of those teams {AND be competitive ! } We could re-enter the N.B.A. at the same time as the Bobcats of N.C. We would have several draft picks going in. A fresh start? That would give us that, at least.
