Official Statement from Hawks on Jason Terry's Contract Offer

On the afternoon of September 11, we received notification from the Utah Jazz indicating a contract offer had been extended to restricted free agent guard Jason Terry. We fully intend to consider the terms of the deal over the next 15 days, and while this process develops, we will not make any public comments regarding this matter.

8. Theo Ratliff, Atlanta Hawks: Before breaking his wrist in Philadelphia, getting traded to the Hawks, and injuring his hip and abdomen, he was one of the top young big men in the game. Now, he's still a good defender/shot-blocker, but hasn't improved as a rebounder or a scorer. He should be stronger this year.

It's hard to believe I'm writing this, but signing point guard Jacque Vaughn was a good move by Atlanta. Vaughn will push Dan Dickau for the No. 2 spot, which will only make both of them better. Of course, the sole reason the Hawks signed Vaughn is because they're not entirely comfortable with Dickau being Jason Terry's lone backup.
