DJlaysitup
First time I've watched a whole game for Auburn...Newton always looks good on ESPN highlights - but he looked awesome today. He should be a great pro. UGA put up a great fight (more on that later) too - and AJ Green was superb. But the real story IMO was how close the game was to being out of control most of the time. Many cheap shots by both teams. There could have many more penalties. Not a lot of sportsmanship. Towards the end of the game the UGA offensive line pulled a "Longest Yard" move on Auburn's #90 (who was already guilty of cheap shots earlier) and literally just plowed into him when he was on the ground - 3 or 4 of them!. Amazing. Before it was over Auburn had two D-Linemen kicked out for throwing punches (and suspended for the first half of the Alabama game). Now I realize that many of these guys aren't true "student athletes", but this is getting crazy  Edited November 14, 2010 by DJlaysitup
Moderators AHF Posted November 14, 2010 Moderators Report Share Posted November 14, 2010 Auburn can thank #90 for getting two of his players ejected after he plowed into Murray - yet again - with his helmet - yet again - way after he had released the ball - yet again. Since the refs weren't going to protect Murray they encouraged UGA to get some vigilante justice and then the refs let them get it. Just poor control to protect both sides in the end game. jhay610
He already is a great pro. :thumbsupsmileyanim: The officials lost control of this game; well, it didn't even look like they were trying to control it. Nick Fairley is a dirty dude -- he is out there trying to hurt guys every week. The SEC should be embarrassed of the latter stages of that game. dms269
Fairley is dirty. Saban won't put up with those cheap shots. If it was the NFL Fairley would be suspended for a game with the new policy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilMaBUWFP64 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkzzjTaOLHw Edited November 14, 2010 by dms269
GST
I am starting to think that last night's game may end up being Cam Newton's collegiate finale: http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20101113/SPORTS030102/11130348/Slow+Cam+Newton+reports+irk+SEC+s+Mike+Slive This mess is rapidly snowballing, and has the potential to make the entire SEC look bad. dms269
Slive is just mad that his star team who is #2 in the nation is about to be punished so he is pushing blame to every other possible team except for Auburn. Miss. State had a reason to be slow with their response. The NCAA has not yet ruled on Renardo Sidney's recruiting and force them to have him sit out his freshman season. The NCAA and SEC were both dragging their feet while Miss. State was waiting for that eligilbity issue to be resolved, which it wasn't being done in a timely manner. Plus they also had an AD change in may.
