Talking points from Driven

Danny Ferry:

[*]Why Atlanta? - Sense of hunger from organization to get team going in a great direction, Atlanta is a great city that loves basketball and wants to give them a great team and make Philips Arena and exciting place to play

[*]Build team the right way with talent and hard working players

[*]Saw a good team but restricted going forward and would be hard to maintain even the good good team - if you have an opportunity to free yourself up to go for bigger and better things down the line, you do it

[*]Joe trade was hard to make as he was a big part of the success here

[*]Wants to build towards having a great organization from inside and build out, including scouting, player development, medical and metrics

[*]On Josh - he is a Josh guy, loves his passsing ability, competitive spirit, toughness, plays through injuries

[*]On Al - Unique and versatile 4/5, smart, defensively is always in right position, loves his ability around basket and his 15 footer, thinks 1-2 steps ahead.

[*]On Jeff - excited about him and thinks he can get better, still a young player establishing himself, with right focus has the potential to go 1-2 steps up in career

[*]On Shooters - shooting is more that half the game, you have to be able to put the ball in basket, it will open up court for Jeff, Devin, Josh and Al, will have wide open lanes

[*]On L.D. - working closely with LD, good working relationship, spent time talking about players, expects more wins that losses, NBA season is fragile so must work well together during the good as well as bad time, Work together to lead team in great direction.

Larry Drew:

[*]challenge for players to get grasp of new offense especialy the new players,

[*]new offense since everything ran through Joe before

[*]smaller but faster team, more uptempo team, more P-n-R, better passing team

[*]challenge will be on the defensive end

[*]on paper they may not look like they cannot defend but he has thrown the challenge out to the players to defend

[*]On Lou - scorer of the bench, successful teams have guys who can come in and score

Al Horford:

[*]feels good, excited to be healthy and back with team, ready for the leadership responsiblity, team has to play collectively to be successful, ready to run, he and Josh are excited about running but also have to focus on defending, wants to be a defensive minded team that runs, teams are either one or the either, they want to be both.

Lou Williams: - glad to be back home and excited about season

Devin Harris: - quality guys who can shoot at a high rate, big guys who can run and quick guys

Kyle Korver: - he has learned how to be a pro, take care of business, be ready to play, control the things you can, young team but hopefully learn to be pros.

Mike "The Stinger" Glen:

[*]Josh and Al has to show leadership

[*]Who gets ball at end of game for a game winning shot? Still to be determined, players will have to work towards that

[*]On Teague and Harris playing together - definitely, Harris is good at running an offense and Teague has shown he can play off the ball.

    [*]Excited about upcoming season.

Th..Th..That's All Folks....GO HAWKS!!!!!!

Just watched it on DVR, its a big fluff piece. But this fluff piece seems different partly because I cannot remember the last time we had a fluff piece on the Hawks. We also have not had a GM actually talk to the media since Babby.
