Not a surprising move.

Friday afternoon, word broke from Shams Charania of The Athletic that Atlanta Hawks forward Solomon Hill’s contract would be fully guaranteed through the end of the season.

As a seven-year veteran, Hill had earned $476,563 as of today, and is now guaranteed to earn the $2.1 million as reported by Charania this season.

Hill has played in every game this season for the Hawks, providing crucial depth in the absences of Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, Cam Reddish and others. The move is no surprise, as Hill has been fairly solid on both ends, providing a stabling presence when needed.

Hill agreed to a non-guaranteed pact with the Hawks this offseason, and that move has been one that has already proved fruitful. Even if he falls out of the rotation when Atlanta gets back to full strength, he has already provided immense value, and even started Wednesday vs. Detroit with both Reddish and De’Andre Hunter out. It’s certainly possible he starts more games going forward with the roster still ailing at the wing position.

Hill is shooting 34.5% from three, and has been able to guard multiple positions on the defensive end. This was an easy move to make for Atlanta, who needs as much help as they can find on the wing at the moment. Stay tuned.
