    OK...

My bad on the last post I was trying to do several things at once and post on another board didn't review it before sending... Anyway...Marvin is not in the same situation as Paul and his game is developing slowing because he is not counted on to be a main focus on the team. Once he has a full season under his belt and his game is integrated and especially if Al do decides to leave which is a good possibility and he is given a bigger role then we will see what he can do

    OK...

No, I am saying the kid has more to his game than just scoring which it seems like the only criteria for a NBA player. Look at the Bobcats...do you think they regret picking Okafor over Howard? Before you answer that Okafor scored more points than Howard...
  3. When the whole NBA community came down on him he is changing his story saying he wants to stay put, but I think the decision has been made to get rid of him now. web page

Marvin can rebound too, play defense, and he can find the open man. You can't just go by how many points he is going to score per game. I think his all around game will come out in the future and that's what's going to help this team reach it's goal.
  5. The one comment I have is "it shows we have a very coachable player here in Atlanta" I know Woody has been working on that part of his game and it seems he is taking to it.
  6. If Atlanta is gun shy of making any deals for crazy players after the Rider trade failed, then Portland is the last team who will go after Artest. They have a big mess up there now and to bring in Artest would have to give them the edge on the worst move in the NBA this year.

    OK...

The Hawks are rebuilding. They didn't pick Marvin to come in and lead this team to a Championship this year. He was pick in line with the rebuilding process and in a year or two he would come into his own and help this team reach and go deep into the playoffs. Granted, Paul came in more NBA, but he was put into a whole different position. He came in on draft day as the starting pg. If Marvin was thrown out there from day one as the starter and the team used him as a primary scoring option his numbers would be better for all of the stats people. It's just like a blockbuster trade we have to give it a year or two to see who got the better of the trade.
  8. You're right....whomever we go after should be young so he and the team can grow together. We do not need one or two year players running the team at the pg position.
  9. This interest is what might make Artest more valuable to us now. They may make the trade because their team superstar is talking to the media of what he wants......it may carry some weight
  10. Magic Johnson made a good point last night on TNT. He said, 'Whatever team Artest goes to this is his last shot in the NBA. If he goes and act up he could never get a contract and he would be out of the NBA in two years." If we do get Artest and he is on his best behavior this year, wouldn't he be worth more in a trade than AL at the end of the season. We are not going to the playoffs this year but Artest can get us a lot or major talent in a trade at the end of the year. (At least several draft picks)

SEARCH Pick NewspaperStar-LedgerTimes, TrentonJersey JournalGloucester TimesExpress-TimesBridgeton NewsToday's SunbeamHunterdon DemocratReporter, SomersetThe Warren Reporter FIND A BUSINESS More | Subscribe | 14-Day Archives (Free) | Long-Term Archives (Paid) Sixers hang tough, down lowly Atlanta Thursday, December 15, 2005 By JON MARKS Staff Writer PHILADELPHIA - The Sixers evidently knew something the fans didn't on a chilly night where they must have been counting arms and legs to come up with the announced crowd of 12,161 inside the Wachovia Center. The Atlanta Hawks, their now 4-17 record aside, aren't such a bad team. Coming off unlikely wins over the champion Spurs and the Cavaliers, the Hawks took the Sixers to the wire last night before Maurice Cheeks' team escaped with a 106-101 decision, its fourth straight win. Thanks to Andre Iguodala's tie-breaking free throw with 38.3 seconds remaining, then seven more freebies - including four straight by Chris Webber, the Sixers are back atop the Atlantic Division and back over the .500 mark, 12-11. The win didn't come easy. "Regardless of their record and regardless of what you think of them, they have a lot of young guys who can play," said the Sixers' Allen Iverson, who bounced back from his worst game of the season vs. Minnesota on Monday (19 points) with 39 points, shooting 15-for-30. "People see their record and expect us to blow them out. But they have pride. They go out and compete." Especially Hawks guard Tyronn Lue, who's been going at it with Iverson since their duel in the 2001 NBA Finals when Lue was a Laker. "I love him to death," said Iverson, after Lue came off the bench to help bring the Hawks from as much as 41-27 down in the second period to holding a 95-94 lead with just 2:33 left. "With Lue, I know he is going to come at me and play hard. "I'm used to it. I've seen a lot of Tyronn Lue in my life. I just take it on as a challenge and attack him." While Iverson was attacking Lue, Webber was having another big night in the paint, too, scoring 29, though he needed 23 shots to do it. That means 53 of the Sixers' 88 shots went up between Webber and Iverson, usually not the kind of balance Cheeks likes.
  12. Exactly....Some people want to keep our team down so they will have a team to humilate in the press.
  13. I read where O'Neal is lobbying for Harrington to come back. The one credit I can give Babcock in his last few years as GM is showing us what a trade for Rider did for our fanchise.
  14. I believe one of the main reasons we haven't seen more out of Marvin is the fact he did not come into a situation like Lebron. Nobody came out of high school and did the things Lebron is doing at his age. It took Garnett, Kobe, and McGrady a few years to come into their own. If Marvin was brought in as the main focus of the team and given majority of the time on the floor he would be more effective at this point or he would be more of a scorer, but not a better ball player. I truely believe Woody is bringing him along slowly so he can mix his talents with playing at this level. Given time we will get a better all around player.
  15. That would be the greatest off-season pick-up for the Braves a new owner. The one thing that's has to happen is a way to get people back in the stands so the new owner will be ready to raise the payroll and give JS more room to improve the team.
  16. I agree 100% (not about Diesel) BK won't give up what he is attempting to build for someone who we all know would not want to play here. I do have a concern that BK might make a knee jerk move because of all the pressure on him right now.
  17. I guess they are right since Slim is lightening up.
  18. Woody has been put in a bad situation to coach his first team. I don't know if he will be a good coach with the right personnel around him or not. When news of the inner sanctuary of the lockerroom become public, it's time to find someone new who can coach and keep team business; team business.
  19. Since the decision has been made he's not a part of the future of the team, we should be playing him to increase his trade value.
  20. on when Delk will be returning to play this season?
  21. I have said before that some of the assistants should be held accountable for the development of our team. I am tired of going to games and the only thing they are good for is keeping up with the fouls. We need someone on the bench who would pull a player to the side DURING the game and tell them what they are doing wrong or a better technique to play.
  22. We have to keep in mind if any coach comes in here they will have to have a philosophy for what this team is built for. We have a young team with someone pushing the ball can run. A coach who likes to slow the game down is not the one for this team.
  23. The one option I support is make a trade not a series of trades because this team has a good foundation. We just need a good veteran pg to run the team. I say get rid of Edwards and Thomas since they are not doing anything anyway and get some veterans on the bench to keep the team together. We can't put everything on AL and JJ's back to keep the team from imploding. We need some vetern leadership on the floor and in the lockerroom.
  24. I understand what you are saying about the atmosphere at the Spurs game, but put Babcock in the position of running that team and when he screws it up let's see how many people show up. If you put a winning team on the floor the people will show up. There are thousands of Hawks fans who do not want to pay the money to see the product on the floor. Once this team is complete and our winning turns around the fans will show up at the Phil.
  25. I have to give this one to JS. Regardless how you feel about giving up Marte, what we are paying for Renteria is a steal compared to what Fucal is making in LA.
